Illegal Immigration Watch: California State Senate Supports Mexican “NOTHING GRINGO” DAY

ASSociated Press: State Senate Supports Immigrant Walkout On Monday

California’s state senators on Thursday endorsed Monday’s boycott of schools, jobs and stores by illegal immigrants and their allies as supporters equated the protest with great social movements in American history.

By a 24-13 vote that split along party lines, the California Senate approved a resolution that calls the one-day protest the Great American Boycott 2006 and describes it as an attempt to educate Americans “about the tremendous contribution immigrants make on a daily basis to our society and economy.”

“It’s one day … for immigrants to tell the country peacefully, ‘We matter … (we’re) not invisible,'” said Senate Majority Leader Gloria Romero, D-Los Angeles, the resolution’s chief author. She said immigrants make up a third of California’s labor force and a quarter of its residents.

Opponents said the nonbinding resolution was misleading because it failed to mention a goal of the boycott was pressuring Congress to legalize millions of undocumented people.

The Great American Boycott 2006 is nothing more than a Mexican “Nothing Gringo” campaign.

Will it be successful?

Yes and no…

The unions will put their folks on the street and all of the Hispanic students in the Los Angeles schools will walk out.

But……even as the LEFTIE organizers obtain a turn-out, there will be a massive backlash.

Chicago Tribune: `Nothing Gringo’ boycott risks backlash, U.S. group says

U.S. lobbyists lashed out Wednesday at the Mexican “Nothing Gringo” campaign timed for May 1 to coincide with the “Day Without Immigrants” boycott in the United States.

The American Chamber of Commerce in Mexico said organizers are risking a backlash and foolishly targeting some of their best allies, since U.S. corporations have lobbied the U.S. Congress for immigration reform including legalization for many of the estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants.

Mexicans’ refusal to “buy American” on May 1 could further polarize the debate and make reform supporters seem anti-American just as lobbyists are trying to persuade lawmakers in Washington to pass a bill that would benefit immigrants, said Larry Rubin, the chamber’s chief executive.

“This is like shooting oneself in the foot,” Rubin said. “U.S. companies have been the first to lobby, launching a huge lobbying effort for immigration reform. … Why hurt something that is helping you?”

Immigrants and their supporters in the United States are being encouraged to skip work and school and not spend money for one day to demonstrate the immigrants’ importance to the U.S. economy.

South of the border, Mexicans are targeting American stores and chain restaurants. “That means no Dunkin’ Donuts, no McDonald’s, Burger King, Starbucks, Sears, Krispy Kreme or Wal-Mart,” reads one e-mail making the rounds.

Let them protest but the Congress will get the message. Do immigration reform wrong like President Bush and the Kennedy-McCain immigration amnesty bill and you will have more protests later……

But, we AMERICANS vote too.

So, contact the White House, your United States Senators and Congressmen/women tell them:

BORDER SECURITY FIRST, ENFORCE IMMIGRATION LAWS and NO ILLEGAL ALIEN AMNESTY in pending immigration reform bills.

A cross-section of Hispanic groups is not supporting the May Day walk-out:

Pajamas Media: ‘You don’t speak for me’

With the the May 1 illegal immigrants boycott approaching—a boycott of jobs, schools and business (‘Nothing Gringo’ Day to some)—another group plans to make its collective voice heard on the subject. This group is planning a press conference on the same day, featuring “a cross section of the Hispanic American community: lawyers, doctors, teachers, scientists, former government and military officials, who are immigrants and children of immigrants.”

The ill-conceived idea (by International ANSWER) to conduct this nation-wide boycott on May Day, a holiday celebrating socialism and communism, is “a sure fire way to upset American citizens,” says James Hudnall. Unfortunately, this proposed event is bringing out the worst in already twisted individuals.

California is a part of the United States of America, and is in no way connected to Mexico.
There is a border between the two, and it is meant to be crossed in a legal manner.
If a person enters the United States with no legal right, then that person is committing a crime.
Those who are committing these crimes, are the very people that California is putting up with.
Better known as illegal aliens, they are the people who are making you wait for long periods of time in hospitals because they over-crowd waiting rooms with no means in which to pay for health care.
They have no legal rights to work, housing, education, and welfare, and yet we give them part, most, or all of those things at your expense.
Illegal means to break the law.
These people are breaking the law by even being in California!
Why are we paying their way?
There is increasing crime in our schools, on the streets, and even on our properties because of illegal aliens who come here with little or no money, and who do not care.
We now have teachers who speak the many languages of these illegal aliens because they do not speak english.
    WAKE UP PEOPLE!!
    This is America!
    We speak english!!
If they can’t speak our language, then what are they doing here?
Every time they cross the street they break the law because they are illegals, and that means against the law!
An elderly American woman was given a ticket in Los Angeles because she could not make it from one side of the street to the other on time, due to her age.
Yet we allow every illegal to cross every street.
    This is insane.
    Where are our leaders?
Why are our borders open while we are at war?
Why are we putting up with this?
While I write this, I must point out that many of my friends over the years have come from other countries.
They are the Latinos and others who came here under legal means.
They are hard working, good, honest people who are proud to call America their home.
I am just as proud to call them my friends!
They are angry at those who come here expecting a free pass.
    This should not be happening.
We want answers from Sacramento, Washington, and our town and city leaders.
This is an election year, and if we do not get answers from those in office about the questions of why there are illegals here, and why are we paying their way, then we will take it upon ourselves to clean things up, by sweeping those in office, out of office, and replace them with people who put the interests of California first!
    I am,
    George Vreeland Hill
