Ex-President of Iran to Visit U.S. Amid Tensions Over Tehran’s Nuclear Program

Despite mounting tensions between Washington and Tehran over the latter’s nuclear program, the Bush administration issued a visa for Khatami yesterday, as well as for about a dozen family and staff members, for a visit lasting about two weeks, the State Department confirmed. Khatami is expected to arrive in the United States tomorrow.

Khatami, a reformer who served as president from 1997 to 2005, is scheduled to speak at the Washington National Cathedral on Sept. 7. His schedule may include speeches at the University of Virginia and to an Islamic group in Chicago. He may also pay a private visit to Thomas Jefferson’s home at Monticello, according to sources familiar with his trip. He will begin his visit in New York at a U.N. conference on the dialogue of civilizations.

The White House said yesterday that Khatami had been invited by private organizations and is not part of the current Iranian government.

“Mr. Khatami is free to meet with who he chooses and is able to speak freely in the United States — the very freedoms that do not exist in Iran,” a White House official said on the condition of anonymity.

The question is WHY?

Carter is a MORON and the Mullahs must REALLY be laughing their ASSES OFF.

I couldn’t agree with Suzie more. I am shocked that Mohammed Khatami is allowed on US soil, much less to spread his hate-filled ideology!I suggest that everyone reads the book entitled, The Life and Religion of Mohammed by Rev. J.L. Menezes.

This is truly insane. This man wants to create a one-world government where Islam rules and would consume the USA. Question: Does this remind you of Adolf Hitler? Or maybe Nikita Krushchev;s famous declaration that “We will bury you without firing a shot”? This truly an evil man wanting to erode the American way of life by changing our fundamental philosophie of freedom of religion and “In God we trust”. We need to think this all the way through and not be confused or brainwashed by this evil. We need to recognize this evil if we don’t already and realize his trip is not to dialogue for peace, but rather an attempt to divide America. He actually stated in a speech that his goal is to convert America to Islam and destroy us from within. Wake Up America.

Why is Mohammed Khatami in the USA? As far as I am concerned, this Iranian is persona non grata…

Iran is the Third Reich with a beard, in my book.

    I say kick Khatami out!

I just finished watching Mr Khatemi on C-Span, what an intelligent person. He gave a speech on peace, tolerance and the use of non violence to solves the world’s problems. He also took questions from the audience which topics ranging from the nuclear technology to the holocaust. All his answers were truthful and conveyed a message of forgiveness and peace for the world.I am so happy he was invited to Harvard.
