Democrats Block Bolton Nomination

Senate Democrats today blocked the nomination of United Nations Ambassador appointee, John Bolton.

Despite last-minute lobbying by the White House and public pressure from Bush, Republicans failed to muster the 60 votes they needed to break a Democratic filibuster of the nomination. The vote to cut off the debate on Bolton was 54-38.

Question: On the Cloture Motion (Upon Reconsideration, Motion to Invoke Cloture on the Nomination of John R. Bolton, of Maryland, to be Representative of the United States to the United Nations )
