Cindy Sheehan Watch: Cindy to Speaker Nancy Pelosi – Impeach Bush or I’m Running Against You

Cindy Sheehan considering a run against Pelosi

Cindy Sheehan, the soldier’s mother who galvanized the anti-war movement, said Sunday that she plans to run against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi unless she introduces articles of impeachment against President Bush in the next two weeks.

Sheehan said she will run against the San Francisco Democrat in 2008 as an independent if Pelosi does not seek by July 23 to impeach Bush. That’s when Sheehan and her supporters are to arrive in Washington, D.C., after a 13-day caravan and walking tour starting next week from the group’s war protest site near Bush’s Crawford ranch.

“Democrats and Americans feel betrayed by the Democratic leadership,” Sheehan told The Associated Press. “We hired them to bring an end to the war. I’m not too far from San Francisco, so it wouldn’t be too big of a move for me. I would give her a run for her money.”

Cindy is back. She gave us an inkling a week ago or so.

And she wrote this foreboding piece about her return and her displeasure with Democrat Speaker Nancy Pelosi:

It has been recently reported that Nancy Pelosi said that impeachment is not “worth it.” Her faulty reasoning is that impeachment would take too much time because they don’t have the votes. If they could “whip” their own Democratic caucus into shape to defend and protect our Constitution and the people of Iraq and our soldiers as they whupped, cajoled,
threatened and browbeat the caucus into attaching “non-binding” time lines onto the last war funding bill, then impeachment would not only be possible, but likely.

The recent commutation of I. Scooter Libby’s sentence, however, was the straw that broke my camel’s back of exhausted ennui.

But, Cindy has threatened running against an established California Democrat politician previously:

California Senator Dianne Feinstein after hearing that Cindy Sheehan might run against her in 2006

American peace activist Cindy Sheehan, whose son was killed in Iraq, said Saturday she is strongly considering running for office against U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein because the California lawmaker will not support calls to immediately bring the troops home.

Sheehan, who was visiting Venezuela for the World Social Forum along with activists from around the world, said she has been thinking of challenging Feinstein for her seat for some time.

And she pulled out.

Antiwar activist Cindy Sheehan said at a news conference Thursday Feb. 9, 2006, in San Francisco’s Civic Center that she would not run against Dianne Feinstein in the Democratic U.S. Senate primary.

So, Cindy’s credibility on this issue is suspect. But, the media whore that she is – it gets her news and publicity. Flap doesn’t think San Fran Nan will lose my sleep over this threat.

The election campaign would be interesting though…….
