Does Mirthala live in Sherman Oaks or Studio City? And why is a city lobbyist and political contributor to the Mayor having anything to do with where the Mayor’s girlfriend lives or her mother lives or they both live?

Has KNBC pursued legal action to obtain the Mayor’s calendar and his Blackberry e-mails, like they promised?

Now, the LAPD is stonewalling the press citing security concerns on whether the Mayor’s police bodyguards were with him ( at public expense) when he was visiting/screwing/having dinner with Telemundo political reporter Mirthala Salinas.

Villaraigosa was asked at a news conference this month if taxpayers subsidized his relationship with Salinas and he answered with two words: absolutely not. He did not elaborate.

The mayor has set a high benchmark for accountability for himself: “Honesty and ethics in City Hall start at the top,” he said a few days after being sworn in 2005, when he imposed reforms intended to ensure integrity in city government.

Across the nation, law enforcement routinely takes extensive measures to protect the security of high-profile public officials. Last year Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said the Hispanic mayor received death threats during the national debate on immigration reform.

Robert McCrie, a professor of security management at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York, said the city can reasonably argue that dates, locations and times for upcoming travel can be regarded as private for security reasons. But there is no threat to the mayor by confirming after the fact that he was accompanied on a trip by a police security detail, he said.

“It’s an expenditure of the public purse to accompany the mayor on such trips. It’s therefore a matter that reasonably can be provided to the public,” McCrie said.

Stonewall and cover-up are the norm for a Los Angeles Mayor who pledged honesty and ethics in City Hall.
