Giuliani Poll Watch: Nevada – Rudy Leads Latest Poll

Republican presidential hopeful, Rudy Giuliani, speaks at the old town hall during a campaign stop in Exeter, N.H., Sunday, Oct. 14, 2007

Mason Dixon Nevada Poll

  • Rudy, 28 percent.
  • Fred Thompson, 23 percent.
  • Mitt Romney, 17 percent.
  • John McCain, 9 percent.

More good news for Hizzoner.

This is not good news for Mitt Romney since the conventional wisdom has him easily winning Nevada because of its large Mormon population and proximity to Utah.

Nevada looks like a competitive GOP caucus state with the Mayor leading the pack.

In the general election portion of the poll there is additional good news for Rudy:

Clinton does not fare well in a hypothetical general-election matchup against any of the top three Republicans. Against Giuliani, the former New York mayor would win 51 percent to 44 percent. The poll also showed former Tennessee Sen. Thompson ahead of Clinton, 50 percent to 44 percent. Republican voters’ third preference, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, also bested Clinton, 49 percent to 43 percent.

The Real Clear Politics Nevada GOP Poll Averages are here.
