Illegal Immigration Watch: The Issue the Democrats Dread

Men, stripped down to their underwear, walk back into Mexico across the Rio Grande river separating the U.S. and Mexico in Laredo, Texas. Carrying their clothes in plastic bags the men were trying to swim into the U.S. when they spotted the U.S. Border Patrol watching them and then turned back. Hundreds of illegal aliens cross the river each day trying to sneak into the U.S.

Why do the Democrats dread the issue of illegal immigration?

1. Wrong on the issue – hurts them in fed-up White suburban communities who see tax dollars flying out to pay for social welfare entitlements at their expense.

2. Racial pandering of Latinos hurts them in the African-American community.

Wow, that is a no-brainer.

As was demonstrated this past Tuesday when Hillary Clinton attempted to STRADDLE the issue of driver’s licenses for illegal aliens, the Democrats will not be able to play the issue both ways. Either they will be for illegal alien amnesty (which they ARE) or NOT.

Illegal immigration will be the WEDGE ISSUE for the 2008 Presidential campaign.
