quarterpounderweb1mw Quarter Pounder With Meth

This police officer received something extra with his Quarter Pounder with Cheese - Methamphetamine:

DESLOGE, Mo. — The police officer’s Quarter Pounder with Cheese tasted a little funny, and for good reason: It was laced with methamphetamine.

The incident happened in December in Desloge, Mo., about 50 miles southwest of St. Louis, but was not made public until Friday.

Police Chief James Bullock told KMOV-TV in St. Louis that the officer went to McDonald’s the day after Christmas and bought the sandwich, then took it back to the police station.

“He thought it tasted kind of funny so he looked at the burger,” Bullock said. “It looked like it had a foreign substance on it.”

The burger was sent to the Missouri Highway Patrol crime lab for testing and tested positive for meth.

I suppose this officer had knowledge of the correct taste of the Quarter Pounder with Cheese.

In a statement from McDonald’s, John McCook, who owns and operates the Desloge restaurant, said safety and well-being of customers and employees “is always is our top priority.” He said the chain is fully cooperating with the investigation.

No charges have been filed, though Bullock said a young man who used to work at the restaurant is being scrutinized. That man’s friends had trouble with the same officer years ago.

Missouri is among the nation’s hardest-hit states in terms of meth production and arrests. Police in Desloge and the surrounding counties make hundreds of meth arrests every year.

First Fingers in Wendy’s Chili and now Meth in Quarter Pounders.

Supplying exotic extras with your food is getting carried away.

smcpinkshirt Capito Vs. Byrd?Shelley Moore Capito R-WV 2nd

Vs.

2004-12-12-byrd Capito Vs. Byrd? Senator Robert Byrd R-VW

A new poll shows the Byrd - Capito race too close to call:

A new poll shows Sen. Robert Byrd and Rep. Shelley Moore Capito would run neck and neck in a possible campaign for the Senate seat now held by Byrd.

An RMS Strategies Poll released today reports that 46 percent of 401 registered voters in West Virginia would vote for Byrd if the election were held now.

A total of 43 percent picked Capito, R-W.Va., though she has not announced her intention to run.

And 11 percent said they were undecided — a percentage that could sway the vote either way.

Byrd, a powerful Democrat in his seventh term, dismissed the telephone poll conducted between May 11 and 18 as one of many attempts to predict the outcome of a race a full year and a half in the future.

“They’ll all be different,” Byrd said. “But no poll can change my job of fighting for West Virginians. People have more important things to worry about right now than that election — Social Security and health care and taking care of their children.

“My job is to use my experience, seniority and know-how to fight for the people of West Virginia each and every day.”

But, the poll results foretell trouble ahead for a forty year plus veteran of the U.S. Senate.

Political analyst Robert Rupp of West Virginia Wesleyan College said the poll could indicate such a race would be very tight.

“It is basically a tie,” Rupp said. “This shows it’s surprisingly close. This means by just putting her name out, she has done very well with this snapshot.”

Because Byrd has never been strongly challenged during his nearly half-century in office, the potential campaign would cover “all new territory for West Virginia,” Rupp said.

“This poll shows it might be a harder race than what some proponents suggest,” he said.

This race bears scrutiny and would affect Blue and Red state balance in the Senate.

Byrd is vulnerable.

But, will Capito give up a safe seat and roll the dice?

rcbcfinh2de Capito Vs. Byrd?

This West Virgina Site has a great take on the Robert Byrd Re-election race.

Michelle Malkin has the Vulnerable Bobby Byrd:

Lots of political blogs buzzing about new poll results showing that Sen. Robert Byrd’s re-election bid won’t be smooth sailing:

A new poll shows Sen. Robert Byrd and Rep. Shelley Moore Capito would run neck and neck in a possible campaign for the Senate seat now held by Byrd.

An RMS Strategies Poll released today reports that 46 percent of 401 registered voters in West Virginia would vote for Byrd if the election were held now. Don Surber
fills us in on Capito.

Daly Thoughts
provides more polling background and says “if the poll is spot on (or if sampling error is actually in Byrd’s favor) then, ladies and gentlemen, there is a very strong possibility of an upset in West Virginia of monumental proportions.”

Red State declares: Byrd jumps the shark.

Outside the Beltway has Robert Byrd in Re-Election Trouble?

Don Surber points us to new polling data showing West Virginia’s answer to Emperor Palpatine down to a three point lead–i.e., a statistical dead heat–over his presumptive Republican opponent in 2006, Shelley Moore Capito.

My strong guess is that Byrd will either choose not to run for health and family reasons or that he’ll manage to win another term when all’s said and done. While he’s a characature of a Senator, he’s brought home smokehouse after smokehouse full of bacon for his state, all of it stamped with his brand.

 Limbaugh Vs. Dean Vs

newdaanapgallery Limbaugh Vs. Dean

First it was Howard Dean:

Howard Dean, appearing before the Take Back America convention, denounced the idea of having to stand in line 8 hours to cast a vote. Agreed. He then continued:

“Republicans, I guess, can do that ’cause there are a lot of them that have never made an honest living in their lives.”

Then…it is Rush Limbaugh:

Nationally syndicated radio host Rush Limbaugh declared that the Democratic Party’s plan to make Election Day a national holiday, outlined by Democratic National Committee chairman Howard Dean at the June 2 “Take Back America” conference, won’t “help them that much” because “[m]ost of their voters don’t work anyway.”

From the June 2 edition of The Rush Limbaugh Show:

LIMBAUGH: The two to three big opportunities so far mentioned by Howard Dean — pension portability and changes to election laws. … So portability of pensions. What’s the second one? Oh, yeah, Election Day a holiday. And well, you know — I don’t know why they need to do that. Most of their voters don’t work anyway, so I don’t know how that’s going to help them that much. At least in a percentage basis.

So, both have big mouths and have put their respective foots in it.

The difference though……

Rush is an entertainer ….. and Dr. Howard Dean is the Chairman of the Democrat Party.

Update #1

The good Professor Bainbridge has this post on Howard Dean:

Buy Dean a Paper

Democrat leader Howard Dean:

Howard Dean was defending another of his comments Friday after telling liberal activists a lot of Republicans “have never made an honest living in their lives.” (Link)

Somebody really ought to buy Dean a newspaper, so he can keep up on stories like this:

The Democratic Party, the self-proclaimed defender of the middle class, was trounced by Republicans among those voters in the 2004 election, according to a Democratic advocacy group that says the party faces “a crisis with the middle class.”

A report released yesterday by Third Way says support for Republicans begins at much lower income levels than researchers had expected: Among white voters, President Bush got a majority of support beginning at an income threshold of $23,300 — about $5,000 above the poverty level for a family of four.

It’s not just that Dean’s obnoxious, it’s that he’s either an idiot or a liar.

Professor, how about the term MORON?

IAmNotAPartisanHackSaysRather Dan Rather: In Denial

Dan Rather is in denial:

If you didn’t see Dan Rather on Larry King last night, you missed what will surely become a classic of journalism seminars for decades to come. The transcript is here.

Rather emerged from hiding, probably thinking it would be safe to join in the Mark Felt-triggered reunion of the veterans of the Nixon Wars.

But Larry had the bad taste to ask him about the Texas Air National Guard forgeries, and Rather’s filibuster of many minutes was nothing short of remarkable. The key excerpt regarding the Rathergate forgeries:

“KING: Are you saying the story might be correct?

RATHER: Well, I’m saying a prudent person might take that view.

KING: Do you have that view?

RATHER: Well, I’m saying a prudent person might take that view.

Number two, it’s important, the panel said that this story was not — the story was not born of any personal or political bias. Now, that’s not all they said. They were very critical of CBS News, of “60 Minutes Weekday,” and of myself, very critical of us for all kinds of things that they believe we should have done that we didn’t do. And with some of those things, I do agree.

But I do hope people will keep in mind that two of their findings were what I just described to you. Wasn’t born of political or personal bias, and they could not determine whether the documents were fraudulent or not.”

RATHER: Well, I’m saying a prudent person might take that view.

WHAT?

The fact is the documents were clearly forgeries and your CBS News Divison was not prudent in checking the story.

CBS News and Dan Rather had a BIAS, a preconceived indictment of President Bush and ran with the story even though it was NOT true.

Dan, please retire, spare us Larry King intervies, and take your assinine views and blog over at Huffington’s Post. You will find a home there with the other Moonbats from the Leftie MSM.

Captain Ed over at Captain’s Quarters has this take here.
