Some enforcement results on the War Against Methamphetamine: The Unnecessary Epidemic.

Chinese drug lord Zhuang Chucheng (2nd-L) stands for trial at the Intermediate People’s Court of Shenzhen in south China’s Guangdong province June 22, 2005. Zhuang was sentenced to death and executed Wednesday for making and selling huge quantities of the drug methamphetamine hydrochloride, known as ‘ice’. Between August 1996 and July 2000, Zhuang’s ring manufactured 31.125 tons of solid and liquefied ‘ice’ in the south of China, local media reported.

Thailand’s Public Health Minister Suchai Charoenrattanakul holds a bag of methamphetamine pills during a ceremony to destroy more than 2,700 million baht ($65.55 million) worth of narcotics in Ayutthaya province, nearly 80 km (50 miles) north of Bangkok, June 24, 2005. About 2,264 kg (4991 lbs) of drugs were destroyed. More than half were methamphetamine, marijuana, heroin, and raw opium. Thailand’s Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra launched his government’s third war on drugs in April 2005, vowing to wipe out the drug trade.
And on the local front:

Man Sold Iodine From Tack And Feed Shop In Fountain
The first man convicted under a Colorado law targeting suppliers of materials used to make methamphetamine is sentenced to probation.
62-year-old Nneil Cizek sold iodine in large quantities from his shop, Cherokee Tack and Feed, in Fountain.
Sales from Cizek’s shop cost up to four times the going rate and prosecutors said he made $10,000 $30,000 dollars a month on the iodine sales.
Receipts from iodine purchased at his shop turned up at more than 20 area meth labs.
Drug enforcement agency agents had even warned Cizek about the law after discovering he was selling such large quantities.
More precursor chemicals to methamphetamine stopped equals less potent and less quantities of Meth on the street.
Congrats to the many law enforcement officers in many countries who are working on The Unnecessary Epidemic.

Flap previously posted Huffington: FLAP Over Cheney’s Health
Now Arianna Huggington says that some of the comments were inappropriate and has deleted them:
Arianna Huffington
Some of the comments posted to the Cheney news story are highly offensive, and we will therefore delete them. While we at the Huffington Post believe that the public has the right to know what the Vice President was at the Vail hospital for, we only wish him the best of health.
So much for freedom of expression over at Huffington’s Post.
Here are some of the new comments:
Ms. Huffington,
You’d be taken alot more seriously if you actually ALLOWED posts that were critical of some of your posters positions. Not offensive, but those that disagree. Right now all your are is DU lite, only without some of the intelligence tahat occasionaly slips through the filters over there.

Howard Dean addressed the National Association of Latino Officials yesterday in Puerto Rico and told both appointed and elected officials that the Democratic Party is losing more and more Hispanic voters to the Republicans and must cultivate them if it is to win the 2008 presidential victory.
More than 7 million Latinos — of Central and South American, Mexican, and Puerto Rican descent — voted in the 2004 presidential race.
But with each successive race, a higher percentage of the growing number of eligible Hispanics has voted for the Republican Party candidate. In 1996, there was a 51 percent gap between Sen. Robert Dole and President
Bill Clinton, who won 72 percent of the Hispanic vote. In 2004, there gap narrowed to 20 percent between
President George W. Bush and Sen.
John Kerry, who won nearly 60 percent of Hispanic votes.
To win Latinos back, “We need a 50-state strategy,” Dean told several hundred elected and appointed Hispanic officials belonging to the National Association of Latino Officials.
Now, how does this pandering for voters help Hillary Clinton’s strategy for fueling border state discontent over illegal immigration?
Does this show a sign that the Democrats will be supporting some amnesty plan for Hispanic illegal aliens?
Democrats lost Hispanic votes in the last election because the Republican Party presented itself as the party of “moral values,” said Dean, 56.
But “this (Democratic) party stands for social and economic justice,” he said, criticizing the Bush administration’s health, education, and social security policies.
“We are Democrats because of our moral values,” he said.
A majority of Hispanics are Catholics and the values of Democrats and the Roman Catholic Church coincide for the most part, he added
But, how does this moral values strategy square with the Democrat’s platform and Hillary’s stand on abortion? Tthe Democrats do NOT line up and share the same moral values with the Roman Catholic Church on abortion! Or with Gay Marriage for that matter!
The lefties have a long way to go to attract Hispanic voters who are social conservatives and naturally attracted to conservative and Republican candidates.

Arianna Huffington has this piece from Vail, Colorado:
Arianna Huffington
I just landed at Vail airport, right next to the Vice President’s Gulfstream jet (actually, there were two Vice Presidential planes, not one… how much of an entourage does one VP need?). He’s here to speak at the World Forum at Beaver Creek, sponsored by the American Enterprise Institute, and held, of course, behind closed doors. The guy sent to pick me up by the Vail Valley Institute (where I’m speaking) told me that he had seen the VP’s motorcade speed towards the local hospital. Being an intrepid HuffPost reporter, I asked him to take me straight there. Upon our arrival, we encountered a high level of security — and a lot of zipped lips: “We cannot tell you anything,†“No comment,†“That information is not available…†But one hospital staffer, obviously not schooled in the secretive ways of Cheney, let it slip: “He’s no longer hereâ€. And since you cannot “no longer†be someplace you’ve never been, we can deduce — though not confirm — that Cheney did, in fact, pay a visit to the local hospital. The reason? Over to you AP…
UPDATE: Cheney’s Health: What is the White House Hiding?
VAIL — Why is the White House still insisting that the only health issue Vice President Cheney dealt with today is an old football injury to his knee, visiting renowned orthopedist Dr. Richard Steadman? At the Vail Valley Institute dinner tonight, I kept asking what those in the know here knew. Little by little, here is the story I pieced together: After the Secret Service secured the Vail Valley Medical Center, including the parking lot, the Vice President arrived under his own power and checked in at the orthopedic center under the name “Dr. Hoffmanâ€. He was immediately whisked to the adjacent cardiac unit, suffering from what was described to me as “an angina attackâ€. The security was so high that a Secret Service agent wouldn’t let an ER nurse out of the bathroom that she had gone into just before the Veep arrived. “Get back in there,†the agent told her. Confounded, she called her husband on her cell phone, telling him “something big†was going on. And indeed it was… but you wouldn’t know it from the White House. It appears that not only doesn’t the public deserve to know what is really going on in Iraq (“last throesâ€?) we don’t deserve to know what is going on with our Vice President’s health.
For more on the long history of the the administration’s obfuscation regarding Cheney’s heart condition, read my March 7, 2001 column.
It appears that this scoop by Arianna is unsubstantiated and unconfirmed:
Cheney Visits Orthopedist in Colorado
(06-24) 18:21 PDT Vail, Colo. (AP) –
Vice President Dick Cheney visited a renowned orthopedist Friday while in town for a forum held by a conservative think tank, his spokeswoman said.
Cheney met with Dr. Richard Steadman to evaluate an old football injury to his knee, Cheney spokeswoman Lea Anne McBride said.
Steadman focuses primarily on sports medicine, and his Steadman Hawkins Clinic has treated a number of famous athletes. In 2003, Los Angeles Lakers player Kobe Bryant was in Vail for knee surgery at the clinic when he was accused of raping a hotel worker.
Cheney was scheduled to attend the American Enterprise Institute World Forum, which was started in 1982 by former President Gerald Ford.
Liberals Decide to Show Their A$$
Last night a handful of us conservative bloggers were spinning trying to confirm or deny an Arianna Huffinton story that said that Vice President Cheney was rushed to a Vail, Colorado hospital for heart problems.
Apparently, that story was poppycock. But, that’s not stopping those darn liberals from saying that the White House isn’t telling the truth and wishing death on the Vice President.
Despite the only facts in the case that Arianna Huffington could muster are highly speculative and also despite the fact that the VP was on a scheduled visit there these liberals still think the White House is lying.
As of noon Pacific time Flap has seen no confirmation of these reports from Vail.
However, the comments coming from the Huffington post either accusing the White House of lyingand/or covering tis story up, ridiculing the Vice President health or wishing the vice President ill will are startling. Flap includes a sample here:
I’ve been telling people since the election that Cheney would not finish out the term.
What will happen is, Cheney will hang on for another year, then sometime around the 2006 elections, they’ll figure out a way to replace him with a more feasible candidate for president.
Bush-Bush, anyone? After all, Jeb will be free about then…

Come on Eric, there are enough pathetic losers to go around. Remember when Bill Clinton went into the hospital? The conservative blogs were pretty well lit up.
I can’t stand Cheney, but I have no hopes of him dying.

To susan:
“My guess is that he had one of those Guidant AICDs (implanted defibfillator) that was recalled, so he got his reprogrammed or replaced. just my bet.”
It might have been something more minor than that. The sad part is that no one in this administration can come clean about anything and its up to Arianna to do the leg work on this story ***her own self**** to get the truth out. Kudos, Arianna. GREAT WORK.
To “Eric”:
“I wonder how many regular readers to this pathetic, self-important blog are hoping that Cheney comes out with a sheet over his head…?”
Oh, I don’t. In fact, Dick Cheney’s inherent creepiness has always reflected badly on the President. And will continue to do so as long as he sticks around. Viva, Veep!

Senator Pat Roberts, R-Kansas, says he now expects United Nations Ambasssador nominee John Bolton be be given a recess appoinment by President Bush.
Mr. Roberts had sought until now to serve as an intermediary between the White House and Senate Democrats in the matter. But he said he believed that the administration had gone far enough, and that a recess appointment expiring in January 2007 and perhaps renominated after that, would be preferable to the potential security risks of providing Congress with wider access to names in the N.S.A. reports.
In those reports, Mr. Roberts said, “it is very easy to determine specific time, place and action, so you can get yourself in a lot of trouble real fast by talking about specific intercepts.”
Flap agrees.
The President should appoint Bolton during the upcoming Congressional recess and reappoint him in January 2007, if desired by both Bolton and the President.
The Democrats when suppiled the additional intelligence information will leak it trying to discredit Bolton and Bush. This, while a great disservice to the United States intelligence community, will be well within the Lefties mantra of Smear America First.
