Dentistry Today: NHS Dentistry Near Collapse?

The Daily Mail has NHS dentistry ‘may collapse’

Britain is moving to the point where there will be an absolute collapse of National Health Service dentistry, shadow health secretary Andrew Lansley has claimed.

But his claims on BBC Radio 4’s The World at One programme were dismissed later in the programme by junior health minister Lord Warner as “nonsense”.

Mr Lansley, questioned about the Government’s new deal for dentists, to be introduced next April, said: “We have got more than half of our population not registered with an NHS dentist and a significant number of people not seeing a dentist regularly at all.”

So, it might be time for the Labour Government of Tony Blair to begin privitization of U.K dentistry.

Canada, South Africa and Australia – all members of the Commonwealth – have private dentistry with safety net programs (except South Africa) for the poor, elderly and disabled.

He said that at the general election, the Tories were proposing renegotiating the contracts with dentists which would have ensured registration between patients and dentists and a capitation fee. The benefit of that, he claimed, would have been a direct incentive for dentists to promote good oral health.

Mr Lansley said: “It is scandalous that Mr Blair said in 1999 that everybody would have access to an NHS dentist by 2001. Well, frankly, we are moving to the point where there will be virtually an absolute collapse of NHS dentistry.”

The Tories are wrong with a capitation type program but NOT wrong about the collapse of the socialized NHS.

The Labour Government should not postpone the inevitable and immmediately begin the weening of the U.K public off of the public dental trough of the NHS.

California Special Election Watch: Propostion 73 Parents Right To Know Meetings

On July 30, 2004, Diana Lopez received a call from her daughter’s middle school, informing her that her 13-year-daughter hadbeen taken to the hospital because she wasbleeding. By the time Diana found out where her daughter had actually been taken, a Planned Parenthood abortion center, her young daughter was already undergoing an abortion — orchestrated by her boyfriend’s mother and Planned Parenthood staff. Diana had not known that her daughter was pregnant or contemplating an abortion. Had Diana known of her daughter’s pregnancy, she would have encouraged and assisted her to have her baby rather than undergo a secret abortion.

Flap supports Proposition 73, the Parents Right To Know initiative. and urges its passage at the California Special Election, November 8th.

Harriet Miers Watch: Bush Confident of Confirmation

Crystal Camacho, with her mouth covered in red tape with the words ‘Life’, protests with other members of ‘Bound4Life’, an anti-abortion group, in front of the Supreme Court, rear, in Washington Friday, Oct. 7, 2005. Supreme Court nominee Harriet Miers’ footprints on contentious social issues suggest a moderate position on gay rights, an interest in advancing women and minorities and sympathy for anti-abortion efforts.

The ASSociated Press has Bush Predicts Miers Will Be Confirmed.

President Bush predicted Friday that the Senate would confirm Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court, even as a Republican senator said she had much work left to ensure that outcome. A former Republican nominee called her nomination “a disaster.”

he displeasure from some on the right with Miers — they cite lack of experience or any record clearly identifying her as a strong conservative — has led to calls for the president to withdraw her nomination.

Asked about those suggestions, Bush did not answer directly. He instead suggested that withdrawal wouldn’t be necessary, voicing confidence that she would be confirmed.

“She is going to be on the bench. She’ll be confirmed,” Bush told reporters after an Oval Office meeting with Hungarian Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsany.

Among conservatives, William Kristol, editor of The Weekly Standard, and the anti-abortion group Operation Rescue called for Bush to withdraw the Miers nomination. Former federal judge Robert Bork — whose nomination to the Supreme Court the Senate rejected in 1987 — described the choice of Miers as “a disaster on every level.”

OK…… Tantrum by the RIGHT must end.

Harriet Miers may not be Flap’s first choice or the first choice of others but……..

Arnold Schwarzenegger Watch: Governor Signs Bill Barring Nutritional Supplements

Central Valley law enforcement officials watch as California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, center, signs rural crime prevention bill SB 453 during a ceremony in his office at the Capitol in Sacramento, Calif., Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2005. The author of the bill, Sen. Charles Poochigian, R-Fresno, is at the right.

The ASSociated Press has Schwarzenegger Signs Supplement Use Bill.

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on Friday signed a bill barring high school athletes from using certain nutritional supplements, a year after he vetoed similar legislation.

The law prohibits high school athletes from taking three nutritional supplements: synephrine, ephedra and DHEA. It also requires students to sign a pledge not to use the supplements, and bars supplement manufacturers from sponsoring school events.

The Republican governor vetoed similar legislation last year, but Schwarzenegger spokeswoman Margita Thompson said this year’s version corrected flaws in the old bill. She said the banned substances were not clearly defined in the earlier version.

The Governor did the RIGHT thing in signing the legislation.

But, the LEFT will say that he was pressured to sign the bill because of the exposure of his contracts with muscle magazines.

    Doubtful……..

Dentistry Today: Body Snatching for Replacement Bone

The New York Daily News has Body snatchers of New York, How ghouls have been stealing parts from corpses in city funeral homes.

A ghoulish ring trafficking in bones, tissue and other body parts illicitly harvested from corpses at funeral homes throughout the city is under investigation by the Brooklyn district attorney’s office, the Daily News has learned.

The enterprise potentially raked in millons of dollars selling tendons and ligaments for surgical replacement and bone for dental implants and orthopedic reconstruction procedures, sources familiar with the investigation said.

Big Bucks for Body Parts, including jaws and bone for grafting.

CNN Money has Body snatchers tied to allograft firms? Alleged New York-area ring investigated for selling parts to corpse tissue harvesters.

First, it is corpses, then aborted fetuses and then finally harvested humans.

Will cloning for parts and stem cells be too far in the future?

This reminds Flap of Michael Crichton’s COMA.

Stay tuned for more horrific revelations in the body parts business.

California Special Election Watch: Schwarzenegger Asks Television Stations to Pull Proposition 74 Ads

The ASSociated Press has Governor’s campaign asks stations to pull anti-74 ads.

Television commercials released this week by the California Teachers Association ask voters to reject Proposition 74, the teacher tenure initiative promoted by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Proposition 74 would increase the probationary period for new teachers from two years to five. It also would change the way districts can remove veteran teachers. Those with permanent status could be fired after two consecutive poor evaluations.

On Flap previously, California Special Election Watch: New Television Ads = “The Big Lie”

    The Videos are here.

Watch the new No on 74 commercial “Record.”

Watch the new No on 74 commercial “Stop Playing.”

Let’s look at the “Big Lie (s)”

    Commercial #1

Teacher: Governor, you’ve already broken your promises on education. Now you’re sponsoring Proposition 74, a ballot measure that allows one principal to fire a teacher without giving a reason – or even a hearing. While doing nothing to improve teacher training.

Parent: Parents like me are voting no on Prop 74 to send the Governor a message: Stop playing politics with our schools. And get to work on smaller class sizes, up-to-date textbooks, and restoring music and art classes—the things our kids really need.

Proposition 74 official title and summary is here.

    • Increases length of time required before a teacher may become a permanent employee from two
complete consecutive school years to fi ve complete consecutive school years.
    • Measure applies to teachers whose probationary period commenced during or after the 2003–2004
    fiscal year.
    • Modifies the process by which school boards can dismiss a permanent teaching employee who receives
    two consecutive unsatisfactory performance evaluations.

LIE: Proposition 74 does not allow one principal to fire a teacher without giving a reason – or even a hearing.

Current California law gives a school district the right to terminate a probationary teacher already. Proposition 74 will lengthen the probationary period from two to five years.

    Commercial #2

    NARRATOR:
Before taking Governor Schwarzenegger’s word that his Prop 74 is good for schools…

    … look at his record:

Schwarzenegger borrowed two billion from our schools and broke his promise to pay it back.
He wants to reduce school funding by another four billion and give himself the power to make more cuts without consulting anyone else.
Now his Prop 74 allows a principal to fire a teacher without giving a reason – or even a hearing.

Prop 74. Another bad Schwarzenegger idea that hurts our schools.

LIE: Proposition 74 DOES NOT allow a principal to fire a teacher without giving a reason – or even a hearing. The principal can recommend the school board do that now to a probationary teacher.

LIE: Governor Schwarzenegger has actually budgeted increased funding for California Schools to the tune of $3 Billion.

Flap is looking forward to Governor Schwarzenegger’s reply.

Well, the Governor has replied and is demanding these LIES be removed from TV-Land.

A letter written by attorneys for the campaign asked stations to pull the plug on the ads.

“We encourage you to exercise your rights under the Federal Communications Act by requiring the No on Proposition 74 Committee to validate the claims made in its advertisement. We believe they will not be able to,” the letter said.

The Sacramento Bee has Ad Watch: Spot targets teacher tenure plan.

It is doubtful that the televison stations will turn down the advertising revenue, but the word is getting out about the LIES promulgated by the Leftie public employee unions, like the California Teachers Association.

    Stay tuned.
