Harriet Miers Watch: James Dobson – White House Made NO Promises
Reuters has Miers supporter says White House made no promises.
A prominent conservative supporter of U.S. Supreme Court nominee Harriet Miers said on Tuesday White House advisor Karl Rove did not give him assurances on how Miers would vote on Roe v. Wade or any other social issues.
“Karl Rove didn’t tell me anything about the way Harriet Miers would vote on cases that may come before the Supreme Court,” said James Dobson, chairman of Focus on the Family, a conservative group.
“We did not discuss Roe v. Wade in any context or any other pending issue that will be considered by the Court.”
In a transcript of a his radio show airing on Wednesday, Dobson said he was now free to speak about a talk he had with Rove before the nomination because Rove had given him permission “to go public.”
The Transcript of Dr. Dobson’s radio show is here.
Flap believes Dr. Dobson.
The Senate Judiciary Committee should call him to testify to clear the air if they wish.
He will testify very willingly.
Harriet Miers will be confirmed in any case.

California Special Election Watch: The Los Angeles Times on Schwarzenegger and McCain
At a news conference at a Burbank hotel, Sen. McCain was questioned about Schwarzenegger’s fundraising record.
Definitely NO LOVE from the Los Angeles Times spin of the Schwarzenegger – McCain campaign events yesterday in Burbank and Oakland.
Previously on Flap, California Special Election Watch: Schwarzenegger and McCain The Burbank Event
The Los Angeles Times has McCain Joins Gov. to Push Ballot Measures.
Two try to boost interest in initiatives. But in light of Schwarzenegger’s fundraising, some question the senator’s backing.
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who has collected more than $76 million in contributions since running in the recall election two years ago, campaigned Monday with U.S. Sen. John McCain, who once called former Gov. Gray Davis’ push to raise $26 million “disgraceful.”
McCain appeared with the governor at campaign events in Burbank and Oakland, touting the initiatives that Schwarzenegger wants passed in the Nov. 8 special election. By bringing in a senator who built an identity challenging the status quo, Schwarzenegger was trying to stoke interest in the ballot measures, which have been trailing badly in public opinion polls.
Contrast this Peter Nicholas and Robert Salladay written piece with that of the San Francisco Chronicle, written by Michael R. Blood, Associated Press Writer.
And where is the pool reporting written by the Los Angeles Times’ Robert Sallady? And the Los Angeles Times wonders why it has lost circulation?
How do you spell BIAS?

Hillary Clinton Watch: Condi Vs. Hillary
The New York Daily News has Condi vs. Hillary?
New book sez only Rice could keep Clinton from White House
There is only one force on Earth capable of preventing Sen. Hillary Clinton from winning the White House in 2008 – and her name is Condoleezza Rice.
That is the thrust of a new book by former Bill Clinton adviser-turned-nemesis Dick Morris and his wife, Eileen McGann. A copy was obtained by the Daily News.
In “Condi vs. Hillary: The Next Great Presidential Race,” Morris and McGann paint a potential presidential catfight as a struggle between good and evil – and New York’s junior senator is wearing the black hat.
“There is one, and only one, figure in America who can stop Hillary Clinton: Secretary of State Condoleezza ‘Condi’ Rice,” they write.
Rudy Giuliani will be the next President of the United States. George Allen will be the Vice President.
Condi will continue to be Secretary of State or return to Stanford.

Yahoo! Watch: Blogs Side by Side With MSM News on the Web
Reuters has Yahoo puts news, blogs side by side on the Web.
Yahoo Inc. said on Monday it will begin featuring the work of self-published Web bloggers side by side with the work of professional journalists, leveling distinctions between the two.
Yahoo News, the world’s most popular Internet media destination, is set to begin testing on Tuesday an expanded news search system that includes not only news stories and blogs but also user-contributed photos and related Web links.
The move will further stoke the debate between media traditionalists who want to maintain strict walls between news and commentary and those who argue such boundaries are elitist and undervalue the work of “citizen journalists.”
Blogs, short for Web logs, are easy-to-publish Web sites where millions of individuals post commentary from political analysis to personal musings, creating a grassroots publishing medium that challenges the authority of established media.
Yahoo said its move to combine professionally edited news alongside the work of grassroots commentators promises to enrich the sources of information on breaking news events.
“Traditional media doesn’t have the time and resources to cover all the stories,” Joff Redfern, product director for Yahoo Search said. “It really does add substantially to what you are looking at when you are looking for news.”
Well, Yahoo! considers bloggers as journalists.
Someone should e-mail Senator Lugar this piece.
