San Jose Mercury News: Teachers union president slams Schwarzenegger over `core values’
Barbara Kerr, president of the 335,000-member California Teachers Association, got a lot of laughs at Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s expense Saturday.
``This governor talks, then he changes his mind, then he talks, then he changes,” said Kerr, addressing 400 educators at the union’s Urban Issues Conference at the San Jose Marriott. “He has no core values whatsoever.”
Gee……Kerr sounds like Arnie Steinberg………….

Muhammad Caricature Watch: “Death to America”
Pakistani Shiite Muslim women hold anti U.S. placards during a rally to condemn the bombing on the Golden Mosque, one of Shiite Islam’s holiest sites in the Iraqi city of Samarra, in Karachi, Pakistan, Sunday, Feb 26, 2006.
ASSociated Press: Thousands Protest Drawings in Karachi
About 25,000 people — some chanting “Death to America!” — rallied against the Prophet Muhammad caricatures in Pakistan’s largest city Sunday, but police prevented a rally in the eastern city of Lahore by arresting the religious ringleader and detaining scores of supporters.
And really what does America have to do with the Muhammad Caricatures and their publication? There were only three newspapers in the entire country that published them and the authors (all twelve of them) were from Denmark.
Now, this blog and others, well, we have published them. And many of us are based in America.
Pakistani Shiite Muslim women take part in a rally to condemn the bombing on the Golden Mosque, one of Shiite Islam’s holiest sites in the Iraqi city of Samarra, in Karachi, Pakistan, Sunday, Feb 26, 2006.
In Karachi, Pakistan’s largest city and economic hub, where the provincial government has not banned such rallies, protesters also chanted “Down with the blasphemer!” and “End diplomatic ties with European countries!” No violence was reported.
About 25,000 people joined the downtown rally organized by Tahafuz-e-Khatm-e-Nabuwat, a Sunni Muslim religious group, said Shaukat Shah, a Karachi police officer.
The protest was the biggest in the port city since 40,000 rallied there Feb. 16 against the cartoons, which first appeared in a Danish newspaper in September but have been reprinted across Europe since.
Now, why protest America when it was Iraqi Muslim terrorists who destroyed the Golden Mosque in Samarra?
These rallies across Pakistan were organized by the Mullahs and friends of the Taliban who wish “Death to America.”
But, if these Islamo-fascists and Mullahs want a war then……….BRING IT ON!
Chief of Pakistan’s opposition Islamic alliance Qazi Hussain Ahmed (C) addresses supporters in Lahore February 26, 2006. Police fired tear gas to disperse around 100 young Islamists who tried to stage a protest over cartoons lampooning the Prophet Mohammad on Sunday in defiance of a government ban on such rallies in central Pakistan.
In Lahore, clerics, opposition lawmakers and religious school administrators were among 150 people arrested or detained without charge Saturday and Sunday in a bid to thwart the illegal protest, police official Amir Zulfiqar said.
Pakistan banned such rallies in Lahore after several demonstrations turned deadly.
Police blocked all streets leading to a central Lahore mall where the protest was to be held. Some 15,000 policemen and 3,000 paramilitary troops were deployed in the city, guarding major traffic intersections, government buildings, mosques and foreign consulates, Lahore police chief Khawaja Khalid Farooq said.
Qazi Hussain Ahmed, a leader of a coalition of six radical Islamic parties, attempted to lead the rally but was taken away in a police vehicle after trying to break through a barricade, Zulfiqar said.
A Pakistani police officer detains a injured protestor, who along with others were trying to hold a rally to condemn the publication of cartoons depict Islamic Prophet Muhammad, Sunday, Feb. 26, 2006 in Lahore, Pakistan.
Meanwhile back in Karachi………
Supporters of a Pakistani religious party take part in a rally to condemn the publication of cartoons depicting the Islamic Prophet Muhammad, Sunday, Feb. 26, 2006 in Karachi, Pakistan.
Supporters of a Pakistani religious party burn the Danish flag and effigy of the Prime Minister during a rally to condemn the publication of cartoons depicting the Islamic Prophet Muhammad, Sunday, Feb 26, 2006 in Multan, Pakistan.
Protests targeting President Gen. Pervez Musharraf, the United States and the caricatures are scheduled for March 3 — a day before President Bush visits Islamabad.
Why, of course, the Mullahs view President Bush and the United States as impediments to them regaining a religious Muslim fundamentalist theocracy in Pakistan.
Stay tuned……..
Mulana Fazal-ur-Rehman, Secretary-General of the main Islamist alliance Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA), speaks during a news conference in Islamabad February 26, 2006. Thousands of Islamists rallied in southern Pakistan on Sunday against cartoons depicting the Prophet Mohammad, but police quickly snuffed out a protest in Lahore, where two people died in earlier unrest.

Iran Nuclear Watch: Iran and Russia Have Reached a “BASIC” Agreement on Uranium Enrichment
Iranian Vice President Gholamreza Aghazadeh, who is head of Iran ‘s Atomic Energy Organization, attends a joint news conference with the head of Russia’s atomic energy agency, Sergei Kiriyenko, at the Bushehr nuclear power plant in Iran, Sunday, Feb. 26, 2006. Iran’s nuclear chief said Sunday that Tehran had agreed in principle on Moscow’s offer to host Iran’s uranium enrichment program, Russian news reports said. Gholamreza Aghazadeh, who heads the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, said he and Russian nuclear chief Sergei Kiriyenko ‘agreed in principle on the Russian offer, but details still need to be worked out,’ the ITAR-Tass news agency reported.
Reuters: Iran says it has basic atomic agreement with Russia
Iran has reached a “basic” agreement with Russia on a joint venture to enrich uranium and will contine talks in coming days, Iran’s nuclear chief Gholamreza Aghazadeh said on Sunday.
It was unclear what this basic agreement involved. The original Russian proposal had been for Iran’s uranium to be enriched in Russia, allaying Western fears that the atomic fuel could be diverted into a weapons program.
However, Iran has always insisted upon its right to enrich its own uranium on its own soil and it is unclear how the original Russian proposal could be tailored to please Tehran.
“Regarding this joint venture, we have reached a basic agreement. Talks to complete this package will continue in coming days in Russia,” Aghazadeh told reporters in the southern Iranian port of Bushehr.
He said there were still obstacles to a full agreement.
YAWN……….
The devil will be in the details and Flap handicaps more than a 50% chance Iran walks away from the talks.
It appears that Iran is in a short-term stalling game now. Why?
Are they close to announcing they already posses one or two nuclear bombs? Or are they 98% there?
Stay tuned……
An unidentified Russian technician rides his bicycle in front of the main reactor of the nuclear power plant in Bushehr, Iran , Sunday, Feb. 26, 2006. Iran and Russia have agreed in principle to establish a joint uranium enrichment venture, a breakthrough in a proposal that it is hoped will appease global concerns that Iran wants to build nuclear weapons. But it is still not known whether Iran will entirely give up enrichment on its own soil, a top demand of the West.
