Iran Nuclear Watch: Ambassador John Bolton – “U.N. Security Council to Send a ‘Strong and Clear Signal’ to Tehran”
Surrounded by lawmakers, Iran’s top nuclear negotiator, Ali Larijani, center, who is also Iran’s Secretary of Supreme National Security Council, speaks with them, prior to an unofficial and closed session of parliament in Tehran, Iran, Thursday, March 16, 2006. Iran’s top nuclear negotiator said Thursday that Tehran was ready to open talks with the United States over the Iraqi issue, marking a major Iranian foreign policy shift.
ASSociated Press:Bolton: U.N. Will Send Iran Strong Signal
U.S. Ambassador John Bolton said Thursday the
U.N. Security Council appears determined to send a “strong and clear signal” to Tehran about its suspect nuclear program, after a meeting of the powerful U.N. body that he described as the best so far.In an informal gathering of the 15 council members, diplomats agreed to hold the first formal Security Council consultations on Friday — a sign that a split between Britain, France and the United States on the one hand, and China and Russia on the other, may have closed somewhat.
In addition, senior officials from six key countries involved in negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program will convene Monday to try to hammer out a final deal and discuss what the council ought to do after it makes its first statement on Iran.”I would describe today’s meetings as the best we’ve had so far,” Bolton said after the talks, the full council’s second informal meeting on Iran. “The mood of the discussion is certainly in the direction of a strong and clear signal to Iran on the part of the Security Council.”
Oh, diplomats and the spin……..
It makes little difference what the United Nations Security Council decides. U.N. sanctions arfe meaningless. Iran has the choice of either standing down their nuclear program or face the wrath of a military operation by the United States and Israel.
Stay tuned……

Iran Nuclear Watch: Iran Wants IAEA Supervision and Inspections
Reuters: Iran flexible on inspectors, not core nuclear issueÂ
Iran on Thursday offered more access to U.N. inspectors if their watchdog agency, not the U.N. Security Council, dealt with its nuclear dispute with the West.
But top negotiator Ali Larijani gave no ground on Western demands that Iran stop trying to produce fuel that can be used in nuclear power stations or, if highly enriched, in bombs.
 The Quotes:
“The most logical way was to have the case with the agency and to have the agency’s supervision,” Larijani, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, told reporters.
“We think it is not too late to accept this. It is to their benefit, which means that the agency’s inspectors can become active. But if they (Western countries) want to use another path, their supervision will be reduced and other problems will come up,” he said. He did not elaborate.
Iran is just throwing a bone to the United Nations Security Council. Their plans to begin full scale uranium enrichment inside Iran are crystal clear.
In the meantime the lobbying of Security Council members continues.
Russia and China called for a peaceful solution to the standoff with Iran, while the United States said diplomacy must succeed to avert a confrontation with the Islamic Republic.
Britain, one of three European Union powers whose talks with Iran proved fruitless, again ruled out military action.Nothing new here either.
The United States and Israel will decide the issue.
Stay tuned……

Arianna Huffington Watch: George Clooney – “I Feel Abused”
New York Daily News: Clooney & Huffington’s blog of war
George Clooney is spitting mad at Arianna Huffington – and the blogosphere is wobbling on its axis.”She said some things that I won’t share, but she did tell me that this could be bad for me – bad for my career. Well, screw you!” the movie star told me yesterday about a conversation he had with the doyenne of Huffingtonpost.com. “I’m not going to be threatened by Arianna Huffington!”
Clooney, in his only interview on the subject, took off the gloves in his fight with Huffington over a blog purportedly written by the “Syriana” Oscar-winner and posted on her Web site Monday.
“I feel abused,” he said.
Flap feels sick.
Both MORONS……

President 2008 Watch: Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist Assures Feingold Censure Resolution Will Have Vote in the U.S. Senate
Hugh Hewitt: Majority Leader Frist Guarantees a Vote on Feingold’s Folly
Majority Leader Bill Frist assured my audience that one way or the other, a vote will be taken on the Feingold censure motion, though it appears it will have to come through the Judiciary Committee, which means a delay of a couple of weeks.
The Republican majority on the Judiciary Committee should refuse all amendments to the Feingold resolution, and vote it to the floor with a recommendation of defeat. The Senate Democrats may not wish to vote on the censure resolution but are not beyond exploiting the FLAP.
Check out what Howard Dean is doing:
Powerline: Dean: “Russ Feingold Is A Traitor”
It looks as though the Democrats are trying to deflect attention from their own embarrassment over Feingold’s blunder by changing the subject to purported attacks on Feingold’s patriotism.
Flap says UP OR DOWN VOTE!
