ASSociated Press: Grand Jury to Hear McKinney Run-In Case

A federal grand jury will soon begin hearing evidence about Rep. Cynthia McKinney’s run-in with a Capitol Police officer, a lawyer familiar with the case said late Wednesday.

The lawyer, who declined to be identified because of grand jury secrecy, confirmed that federal prosecutors had agreed to get involved in the case in which a black lawmaker is accused of striking a white officer after he tried to stop her from entering a House office building without going through a security checkpoint

U.S. Capitol Police Chief Terrance Gainer said McKinney turned the officer’s failure to recognize her into a criminal matter when she failed to stop at his request, and then struck him.

“He reached out and grabbed her and she turned around and hit him,” Gainer said on CNN. “Even the high and the haughty should be able to stop and say, ‘I’m a congressman’ and then everybody moves on.”

“This is not about personality,” added House Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill. “It’s not about racial profiling. It’s about making this place safer.”

Just charge and arrest this NUTTER. Let her tell it to the grand jury and/or a judge.

For her part, McKinney wasn’t backing down from the argument. She charged anew that racism is behind what she said is a pattern of difficulty in clearing Hill security checkpoints.

“This has become much ado about hairdo,” she said Wednesday on CBS’ “The Early Show.” McKinney, a Georgia Democrat, recently dropped her trademark cornrows in favor of a curly brown afro.

The police aren’t the ones who are racist, one Republican said.

“Cynthia McKinney is a racist,” Rep. Tom DeLay, R-Texas, said on Fox News Channel’s “Fox and Friends,” a day after abandoning his reelection bid under a cloud of ethics charges. “She has a long history of racism. Everything is racism with her. This is incredible arrogance that sometimes hits these members of Congress, but especially Cynthia McKinney.”

AJC (Via Donkey Cons): State GOP seizes on McKinney

U.S. Rep. Cynthia McKinney, already in the spotlight for striking a Capitol police officer, became part of the Georgia governor’s race Monday.

The state Republican Party painted McKinney as “the face of the state Democratic Party,” while Democrats accused the GOP of resorting to “gutter politics” for trying to use her as an issue at the outset of the campaign season.

Ok, it seems that McKinney is a loose cannon that the Democrats are either afraid or embarassed to support.

Political observers say it’s just the opening round in what will be a volatile campaign season with the control of Congress, the Legislature and the governor’s office up for grabs.

McKinney has had a penchant for making headlines since her election to Congress in 1992. She accused President Bush of having prior knowledge of the 9/11 terror attacks and doing nothing to stop them. She has backed the Castro regime in Cuba. And after her 2002 loss to Denise Majette, her father, a former state lawmaker, blamed “J-E-W-S” for her loss.

ASSociated Press: N.Y. Sen. Clinton says immigration bill would make her a criminal

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton charged Wednesday that a House GOP immigration bill would make her and her Senate aides criminals, and warned of a “ticking time bomb” lurking in the U.S. economy.

Clinton’s latest comments on the immigration debate in Congress follow earlier remarks in which she said the bill, written by Reps. James Sensenbrenner, R-Wis., and Peter King, R-N.Y., would probably criminalize “even Jesus himself.”

Speaking to the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, she claimed her work on behalf of New York constituents would run afoul of the House bill setting penalties for anyone who knowingly assists or encourages illegal immigrants to remain here.

“I realize I would be a criminal, too. My staff would be criminal. We help people with all kinds of problems,” said Clinton, D-N.Y., prompting titters in the audience.

First to Blacks (remember Bill’s office is in Harlem) and now to Hispanics……..

Rep. Peter King charged Clinton is the one spreading misinformation, saying the only way his bill would make her a criminal is if she was a “coyote,” another term for an immigrant smuggler.

“I hope that Sen. Clinton is not suggesting that she and her staff are members of an alien smuggling gang, or that she is a coyote posing as a senator,” said King.

Nahhhh, Representative King not a coyote……something worse…….political hack.

ASSociated Press: Clinton Praises Romney Health Care Plan

A Massachusetts plan that blends the Democratic goal of universal health care with the Republican philosophy of personal responsibility could be a model for politicians nationwide — and a presidential launching pad for its chief sponsor, GOP Gov. Mitt Romney.

The proposal, approved Tuesday by Massachusetts’ Democratic-led Legislature, won Romney cautious praise from Democrats, including a longtime champion of health care overhaul: Sen.
Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York.

“To come up with a bipartisan plan in this polarized environment is commendable,” said the former first lady, who led President Clinton’s failed health care campaign.

She embraced the Massachusetts measure’s most striking aspect — requiring people to purchase health insurance — but questioned Romney’s plans to eliminate a fee on companies that do not provide health insurance for employees.

“That would unravel the plan,” Clinton said.

Of course, the LEFT and Clinton like this compulsory state sponsored plan – they want national universal care and this is a step toward their goal.

Hugh Hewitt calls this bill a “Home Run” for Governor Mitt Romney.

Romney’s health care plan is another socialistic attempt to nationalize medicine. Why would ANY conservative support this fiasco?

As for Hillary……she will have to debate health care with Rudy Giuliani in the 2008 Presidential debates not a light weight (who has decided to NOT run for re-election) like Mitt Romney.

Recent military activity inside Iran offers proof of Tehran’s willingness to brook international isolation in pursuit of its nuclear ambitions, a White House spokesman said.

ASSociated Press: Iran Test-Fires ‘Top Secret’ Missile

Iran said Wednesday it has successfully test-fired a “top secret” missile, the third in a week, state-run television reported.

The report called the missile an “ultra-horizon” weapon and said it could be fired from all military helicopters and jet fighters.

The tests came amid war games being held since Friday by the elite Revolutionary Guards in the Persian Gulf and the Arabian Sea at a time of increased tension with the United States over Tehran’s nuclear program.

Iranian television called it a “turning point” in its missile tests but gave no other details.

At the same time, the head of the Revolutionary Guards, Gen. Yahya Rahim Safavi, said the United States must recognize Iran as a “big, regional power.”

Oh PLEASE…..

Of course, Iran can sink some ships in the Straits of Hormuz and disrupt the world oil flow but guess who this hurts worse……Iran.

Speaking on state television, Safavi said Iran could use the Straits of Hormuz to apply pressure on foreign powers. About two-fifths of the world’s oil supplies pass through the 34-mile-wide entrance to the Gulf.

“The Straits of Hormuz are a point of control and economic pressure on the energy transfer route for those foreign powers that might want to undermine regional security,” Safavi said.

He reiterated that Iran could defend itself against any invasion and added: “I advise Americans not to move toward a military strike against Iran.”

Just more bloviations from Iran.

Iran MUST stand down their uranium enrichment program or face the consequences.

Tell Ms. Mckinney to ‘get thee to a physician’ in order fix her possible thyroid issues. It may not change her politics, but at least she might become a bit more sane and coherent. Okay, maybe not, but letting her know that she might have a correctable problem is the *right* thing to do—both for herself and for the rest of us.
