Election 2006 Watch: Contribute to GOP Senate Campaigns?
Hugh Hewitt: $500 for the Future? UPDATED
Are you willing to invest $500 in the future by contributing to the nine GOP Senate candidates that are best positioned to either retain their seats or take a blue seat red?
It is a lot of money, but the stakes are incredibly high, including success in the war and the ability to confirm good judges to the Supreme Court and the lower federal courts.
In fact, no matter what the problem is, the answer can’t be more Democrats.
Please go online and send $50 to each of these nine candidates, and then pick your favorite and send $50 more. (UPDATE: Just added Jon Kyl’s campaign, so it is 10 campaigns with $50 all around.)
If that’s just too much, then how about $25 each, or $10 each? It all matters.
A Senate majority is a terrible thing to lose, and a wonderful thing to strengthen. Dig deep:Hugh must be out of his mind.
Let these politicos come onto the blogs and tell us why they merit our support. No more lock step.
No more being taken for granted.
We have seen how the President and GOP Senate have SOLD OUT conservative ideals on illegal immigration and border security.
Hugh, make these politicians work for financial support and our votes.
NOT ONE DIME OR VOTE UNTIL THEN.
Here are the races from H/H as well.
New Jersey: Incumbent Democrat Menedez v. the GOP’s Tom Kean.
Maryland: The GOP’s Lt. Governor Michael Steele v. the battered winner of the Mfume-Cardin slug fest.
Pennsylvania: GOP Incumbent Rick Santorum against Bob Casey Jr.
Ohio: GOP Incumbent Mike DeWine v. Congressman Sherrod Brown
Missouri: GOP Incumbent Jim Talent v. Claire McCaskill
Montana: GOP Incumbent Conrad Burns v. either John Morrison and Jon Tester.
Minnesota: GOP Congressman Mark Kennedy v. Amy Klobuchar
Nebraska: Pete Ricketts v. Democratic incumbent Ben Nelson
Washington State: Mike McGavick v. Democratic incumbent Maria Cantwell
And maybe this chart does spell more long-lasting victories. The fact is the Republican Congress has NOT performed well and until they prove their worth – why bother?
Sorry, Hugh….NOT A DIME!
Steve Frank of California Political News agrees.
But, Pennsylvania last Tuesday should have been the two by four to every GOP candidate and office holder in the nation. At least 14 incumbent GOP office holders, including the top two in the State Senate were defeated in a Republican primary, by Republicans. The good news is that if they had not been defeated, many GOP voters would have stayed home in November. This is a lesson for us in California, and the nation, GOP voters have had enough of Republicans acting like Democrats. Our candidates need to stand for GOP principles, then vote and govern that way once in office.
No longer will GOP voters settle for, “well at least they have a “R” after their name.” There is a revolt going on in GOP ranks and it is moving across the nation.
And Mike Dewine in Ohio? Come on Hugh, what, are you joking? PoliPundit has the truth:
If there is one senator in a close race who deserves to lose because of his support for illegal immigration, it is Mike DeWine (R-OH).
A new Rasmussen poll shows DeWine falling behind his Democrat opponent for the first time. Ohio conservatives would be well advised to let DeWine stew. Not only is he a firm supporter of illegal immigration, he also sits on the Judiciary Committee, and was instrumental in brokering the Gang of 14 deal.
RightWingSparkle has I’m asking for money.Â
Flap will say the same BLEH to sparkle. NO WAY!

Iran Nuclear Watch: Iran Rejects Plan Floated by United Nations Security Council
Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki speaks during a press conference in Kuwait on Saturday, May 20, 2006. Mottaki rejected on Saturday the latest idea being floated to resolve his country’s standoff with the international community saying that Tehran would not give up uranium enrichment even if its file is withdrawn from the U.N. Security Council.
ASSociated Press: Iran Rejects Plan Floated by Sec. Council
World powers are considering dropping U.N. Security Council discussion of Iran’s nuclear program if Tehran agrees to suspend uranium enrichment, but could push for sanctions backed by the threat of force if the Islamic state refuses, diplomats said Saturday.
Later Saturday, Iran’s foreign minister rejected that possible approach to resolving its standoff with the international community, saying that Tehran would not give up uranium enrichment.
Manouchehr Mottaki, speaking in Kuwait, told journalists that Iran supports halting talks in the council, but “suspending nuclear activities goes against our legitimate rights and is not part of the NPT (Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty).”
The draft proposal on Iran is being considered by the five Security Council nations plus Germany and could still undergo revision before the six powers sit down Wednesday to approve it, said one of the diplomats, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to reveal elements of the draft.
As it stands now, the proposal says the international community will “agree to suspend discussion of Iran’s file at the Security Council,” if Tehran resumes talks on its nuclear program, suspends enrichment during such talks and lifts a ban on intrusive inspections by the U.N. nuclear watchdog.
It also offers help in “the building of new light-water reactors in Iran,” offers an assured supply of nuclear fuel for up to five years, and asks Tehran to accept a plan that would move its enrichment program to Russia.
If Iran does not cooperate, the draft calls for banning travel visas; freezing assets; banning financial transactions of key government figures and those involved in Iran’s nuclear program; an arms embargo, and other measures including an embargo on shipping refined oil products to Iran. While Iran is a major exporter of crude it has a shortage of gasoline and other oil derivatives.
“Where appropriate, these measures would be adopted under Chapter VII, Article 41 of the U.N. Charter,” says the draft, referring to provisions that add the implicit threat of military force to a Security Council resolution.
But, Iran does NOT want to dance. Ahmadinejad and the Mullahs have been quite CLEAR – they want to enrich their own uranium – and why?
FOR NUCLEAR WEAPONS MANUFACTURE.
Negotiations now are becoming LUDICROUS.
Stay tuned…….

Illegal Immigration Watch: Secure The Border?
Arizona Daily Star (Via Drudge): Tip leads Border Patrol to 91 illegal entrants in truck
Border Patrol agents discovered 91 illegal entrants who were smuggled into the country in the back of a box truck Thursday night southwest of Sonoita, an official said Friday.
Around 10 p.m., the Border Patrol received a call from a concerned citizen about possible illegal activity, said Jesus Rodriguez, a spokesman for the agency’s Tucson sector. The caller said they believed the truck was picking up illegal entrants.
Border Patrol agents from Nogales and Sonoita pulled the truck over on Highway 82 around Milepost 26, at which time the driver got out and ran into the brush, Rodriguez said.
Inside the truck, agents found 91 illegal entrants, most of whom were from Mexico but some were from Central America, he said.
No injuries were reported and the driver of the truck was not found, Rodriguez said.
The illegal entrants were detained and taken to the Nogales processing center, he said.
Come on…..the President should stop bloviating, move the National Guard down to the border and secure it.
There is more discussion in the Senate to make the illegal aliens, legal than securing our own borders.
The politicians had better get busy or we will vote them ALL out of office.
