FoxNews.com: Dixie Chicks’ Maines Says U.S. President Owed ‘No Respect Whatsoever’

The Dixie Chicks’ Natalie Maines apologized for disrespecting President George W. Bush during a London concert in 2003. But now, she’s taking it back.

“I don’t feel that way anymore,” she told Time magazine for its issue hitting newsstands Monday. “I don’t feel he is owed any respect whatsoever.”

As war in Iraq loomed in 2003, Maines told the London audience: “Just so you know, we’re ashamed that the President of the United States is from Texas.”

The Chicks new album is due out Tuesday and already the singles are not doing very well in play or sales.

Could this be a publicity STUNT to boost controversy/notice for the band.

Probably.

Will it be successful?

NOPE.

ASSociated Press: Filing: Tape Shows Lawmaker Taking Money

A congressman under investigation for bribery was caught on videotape accepting $100,000 in $100 bills from an FBI informant whose conversations with the lawmaker also were recorded, according to a court document released Sunday. Agents later found the cash hidden in his freezer.

Cold hard cash in the representative’s freezer.

Time to resign!

At one audiotaped meeting, Rep. William Jefferson, D-La., chuckles about writing in code to keep secret what the government contends was his corrupt role in getting his children a cut of a communications company’s deal for work in Africa.

As Jefferson and the informant passed notes about what percentage the lawmaker’s family might receive, the congressman “began laughing and said, ‘All these damn notes we’re writing to each other as if we’re talking, as if the FBI is watching,’” according to the affidavit.

Jefferson, who represents New Orleans, has not been charged and denies any wrongdoing.

As for the $100,000, the government says Jefferson got the money in a leather briefcase last July 30 at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Arlington. The plan was for the lawmaker to use the cash to bribe a high-ranking Nigerian official _ the name is blacked out in the court document _ to ensure the success of a business deal in that country, the affidavit said.

All but $10,000 was recovered on Aug. 3 when the FBI searched Jefferson’s home in Washington. The money was stuffed in his freezer, wrapped in $10,000 packs and concealed in food containers and aluminum foil.

Federal prison awaits this MORON.

Ehud Olmert, pictured, has said that Iran could obtain a nuclear bomb in “months” and vowed that Israel would take the “necessary measures” to stop this occurring.

ASSociated Press: Olmert: Iran Close to Atomic Bomb Know-How

Iran is just a few months away from acquiring the technological know- how that will allow it to build an atomic bomb, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said in an interview broadcast Sunday.

Olmert flew to Washington on Sunday for his first meeting as prime minister with President Bush. The two leaders are expected to discuss Iran’s nuclear ambitions.

Olmert told CNN’s “Late Edition” that the key issue regarding Iran was not when it builds a nuclear bomb, but rather when it acquires the knowledge they need to manufacture such arms.

“This technological threshold is nearer than we anticipated before. This is because they are already engaged very seriously in enrichment,” Olmert said.

“The technological threshold is very close. It can be measured in months rather than years,” Olmert added, repeating statements previously made by other senior Israeli officials.

Olmert said the world could not take Iran’s nuclear ambitions lightly because Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has repeatedly called for Israel’s destruction. However, he said it was unlikely Israel would act on its own, diplomatically or militarily, to deal with the problem.

The “POINT OF NO RETURN” for Israel and the United States is imminent.

Flap handicaps a joint Israel-USA military operation by Labor Day unless Iran stands down their uranium enrichment program and allows full IAEA inspections of their nuclear facilities.

In 1981, Israel’s air force attacked the Iraqi nuclear reactor at Osirak, destroying the facility. But Olmert said the situations cannot be compared, and Israel will try to persuade the Western world to impose sanctions on Iran.

Iran has so far rejected European proposals to back off the idea of U.N.-imposed sanctions if Tehran agrees to freeze its uranium enrichment program. Another proposal the Europeans are preparing will apparently include a clause saying that if Iran refuses, it could face sanctions backed by the threat of force.

Iran, which insists its nuclear program is for peaceful, civilian purposes, says it has the right to enrich uranium.

Olmert expressed confidence that Bush would “lead other nations in taking the necessary measures to stop Iran from becoming a nuclear power.”

“We will certainly try to convince other countries that, at this time, before they cross the technological threshold, that the measures will be taken to stop them,” Olmert said.

Olmert realizes that any action against Iran will involve full scale war against Israel, including chemical weapon missile attacks against Israeli civilians. Although Israel and the United States have been preparing anti-missile defenses against Iran and its Shabab-3 missiles, no defense is absolute.

However, Flap knows that should Iran attack Iran with chemical and/or biological agents, then Israel would use Israeli nuclear weapons on Tehran.

1 in 7 Mexican workers migrates — most send money home

The current migration of Mexicans and Central Americans to the United States is one of the largest diasporas in modern history, experts say.

Roughly 10 percent of Mexico’s population of about 107 million is now living in the United States, estimates show. About 15 percent of Mexico’s labor force is working in the United States. One in every 7 Mexican workers migrates to the United States.

Mass migration from Mexico began more than a century ago. It is deeply embedded in the history, culture and economies of both nations. The current wave began with Mexico’s economic crisis in 1982, accelerated sharply in the 1990s with the U.S. economic boom, and today has reached record dimensions.

It is unlikely to ebb anytime soon.

Oh, illegal immigration will STOP soon – at least to the degree the folks are flowing unstopped across the border.

What the Chronicle piece fails to journal is how fed up Americans are with the open border sentiment of the MSM, the U.S. Senate and the President.

Border security will take precedence when the Senate bill reaches the House-Senate conference committee and walls, barriers, fences, virtual fences, surveillance and border patrol officers will all be in place by the November 2006 elections or the politicians will be sent packing……and this will occur to both Republicans and Democrats.

The flow of illegal aliens from Mexico has to STOP. If this results in economic displacement in Mexico, so be it. Americans can deal with economic hardships with foreign policy initiatives, including economic development in Mexico and Central America. What is NOT acceptable is unfettered assulat on our southern border.

Flap handicaps an illegal immigration bill as a 50-50 chance as it is now written in the U.S. Senate. If more amendments are not forthcoming this week, Flap predicts the entire comprehensive reform bill will die.

However, the President has committed to 6000 National Guard troops, more border patrol officers and securing the border with fences and other means. So, the status quo will not remain. Additional legislation securing the border and funding the National Guard will go forward and pass by the November 2006 elections.

If not, many incumbent GOP House members will be looking for work in January 2007.
