Chicago Sun-Times: Nude cyclists are peddling threadbare ideas

Perusing reports of this month’s World Naked Bike Ride in San Francisco, I was impressed by
the way the acres of sagging mottled flesh stayed ruthlessly on message: “RE-ELECT GORE” was the slogan on one man’s bottom, as fetchingly dimpled as a Palm Beach chad, while beneath the “GORE” of his butt his upper thighs proudly proclaimed “NO WAR” (left leg) “FOR
OIL” (right). “I’D RATHER HAVE THIS BUSH FOR PRESIDENT” read one lady’s naked torso with an arrow pointing down to the presidential material in question. What a bleak comment on the bitter divisions in our society that even so all-American a tradition as nude bicycling down Main Street should now be so nakedly partisan. It’s as if the republic itself is now divided into a red buttock and a blue buttock permanently cleaved by the bicycle seat of war.

OK, this metaphor’s jumped the bike path. Let me see if I can find some historical analogy.
Ah, here we go: Back in 1559, devastated by the loss of her last continental possession, Mary Tudor, England’s queen, said that when she died they would find “Calais” engraved on her heart. When the Democratic Party dies, you’ll find “NO WAR FOR OIL” engraved on its
upper thighs. Despite the Republicans’ best efforts to self-destruct, I can’t see the Democrats taking either the House or Senate this November. As I said a few months back, even a loser has to have someone to lose to, and the Dems refuse to fulfill even that minimum requirement. It may be true that on critical issues such as Iraq and immigration the GOP is divided. But it’s a much bigger stretch to conclude that the beneficiary of those divisions is likely to be the Democratic Party, which is about the last place one would look for a serious position on either issue.

ASSociated Press: North Korea Appears Close to Missile Test

North Korea appeared close Sunday to test-firing a long-range missile capable of reaching the United States, prompting the White House to warn of an appropriate response and Japan to threaten a “fierce” protest to the United Nations.

North Korea was silent on the issue but vowed to bolster its “military deterrent” in a burst of fiery rhetoric carried by its state news agency.

A test launch of what is believed to be a Taepodong-2 missile would inflame a region already tense over the North’s continuing nuclear weapons program.

“There are signs” of an imminent missile launch, Jung Tae-ho, a spokesman at the South Korean president’s office, told The Associated Press. He added that security officials were “closely watching the situation.”

Does the United States and Japan have Aegis Cruisers with anti-ballistic missiles on the ready?

Will the United States and/or Japan shoot this missile down?

Will the United States bomb North Korea in retailiation for resuming missile tests?

The grandson of Ayatollah Khomeini, the inspiration of Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution, has broken a three-year silence to back the United States military to overthrow the country’s clerical regime.

Hossein Khomeini’s call is all the more startling as he made it from Qom, the spiritual home of Iran’s Shia strand of Islam, during an interview to mark the 17th anniversary of the ayatollah’s death.

It won’t happen but remember the son of the Shah has been calling for regime change.

Los Angeles Times: Insurers Denying Claims from Holistic Dentists

Patients, insurers and regulators are attacking a ‘holistic’ practice that entails what they say are unnecessary extractions of teeth and bone.

Rebecca Lindsay had a toothache. Dentists told the 36-year-old Irvine woman that her dental fillings were slowly poisoning her and that she should attack the problem at the source. Her teeth had to come out.

Over the next three months, the dentists, James Shen and his wife, Rily Young of Huntington Beach, extracted nine of Lindsay’s teeth — and much of her jaw.

They didn’t stop there. They yanked 18 of her mother’s teeth after Lindsay referred her to them. “You just put your trust in doctors,” said Lindsay, a sales rep for a pharmaceutical company. “I thought, if I don’t do this, I can die.”

The treatment left Lindsay so disfigured that a new team of surgeons has since transplanted bone from her hips to reconstruct her jaw. New plastic teeth are allowing her to eat normal food. Now, she said, after years of shame about her appearance, “I am going to have to learn how to smile again.”

Lindsay and her mother, Lyndel McKay, 67, are suing the dentists for malpractice. They are among a long list of patients who have been subjected to “holistic” or “biological” dentistry, a controversial practice that urges wholesale extractions of teeth and surgery to remove “decaying jawbone.”

Holisitic or Biological dentistry is CRAP DENTISTRY that fraudulantly cheats the public and the insurance companies are justified in withholding any type of payments. The patients are justified in suing the S**T out of these dentists who fraudulantly diagnose/treat and financially take advantage of them.

And where is the California Dental Board?

Well, former and RECALLED Governor Gray Davis stacked the dental board with holistic and holistic dentist apologists and enforcement stopped. With Governor Schwarzenegger this situation has been somewhat corrected but there is continuing worry about what the 2006 elections may bring.

Jerry Brown as Governor in the late 1970′s and early 1980′s appointed these same holistic dentists to the California Dental Board and is currently running for Atorney General, where he would have direct supervision over the prosecution of dental board enforcement actions. Likewise, Democrat Gubernatorial candidate and California Treasurer Phil Angelides is being supported by these same holisitc folks.

ASSociated Press: Iran says U.S. hinders nuclear compromise

Iran accused the United States on Sunday of pushing Europe away from a possible compromise on Tehran’s disputed nuclear program.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi said the U.S. insistence on placing conditions on negotiations over a Western package of incentives has narrowed the scope of possible talks and made it tougher for all parties to reach a solution.

The incentives are meant to persuade Iran to stop enriching uranium, a process that can make nuclear fuel for a power plant or fissile material for an atomic bomb.

“We feel that the Americans are trying to take Europe to a point that the case could not be easily solvable,” Asefi said. “The U.S. said it gave a deadline to Iran to respond to the package, but that is not correct. Again, they mix different issues and that is not appropriate.”

Asefi reiterated that enriching uranium was his country’s unalienable right, and that talks must be unconditional. He said Iranian officials were reviewing the package, and Iran would propose amendments to the deal.

“We have formed different committees to review the package. When the committees have concluded, we will send our answer to the Europeans immediately,” Asefi said.

Iran is just blustering again for the Sunday talk shows and the Western media cycle. The Mullahs and President Ahmadinejad have NO intention to accept the Big 6 proposal. They covet nuclear weapons and will NEVER agree to halt Iranian uranium enrichment.

This is an attempt to “demonize” the United States and to sway the European populace who desire appeasement regardless of the foreign policy consequences (and how many world wars does the USA have to fight and win for Europe?).

But, the Big 3 (Britain, France and Germany) is already distrustful of Iran. After all, it will be their capitals that would be within range of Iranian nuclear armed missiles and they do not possess (as of yet) the missile defense capacity of the USA.

So, nothing has changed. Iran will drag out the process, enrich more uranium in the process and ultimately be faced with a deadline after the G-8 meeting in mid-July.

ASSociated Press: Sheehan Supports U.S. Deserters in Canada

A group of American military deserters publicly embraced their new lives in Canada on Saturday with the support of “peace mom” Cindy Sheehan, who said she wished the son she lost in Iraq was among them.

“I begged him not to go to Iraq,” the anti-war activist said through tears at a rally in support of the former soldiers, who wore black T- shirts emblazoned with “AWOL.” “And I wish he was standing up here with these people because he didn’t want to go.”

But, Sheehan’s son, Casey, volunteered to go and do his duty. He was not a coward and deserter like these MORONS.

Sheehan was making her second visit to Canada in support of sanctuary for those fleeing the U.S. military. The Canadian government has so far denied political asylum to U.S. soldiers who have sought it but appeals are pending.

“They’re trying to deport me,” said Darrell Anderson of Lexington, Ky., who arrived in Canada by way of Niagara Falls in January 2005. He spent seven months in Iraq with the Army’s 1st Armored Division and received a purple heart following a roadside bomb attack before deciding during a leave he would not go back.

“When I was in Iraq, we were killing innocent people for oil. It was obvious they didn’t want us there,” said Anderson, 24, who is petitioning to remain in Canada.

Anderson is a COWARD despite his Purple Heart which he dishonors with his desertion. If he had any “CAJONES” he would return to the United States and serve a prison term for his political views.

Remember Anderson joined the United States Armed Services as a volunteer. He took an oath. If he wishes to rescind his participation then he should accept his punishment. The Army would be glad to get rid of anyone who does not wish to serve – but with punishment and a “DISHONORABLE” discharge for desertion.

The gathering at a park in the town of Fort Erie, across the border from Buffalo, N.Y., was organized by peace groups on both sides of the border.

About 20 former U.S. soldiers, referred to as war resisters, have applied for refugee status in Canada. Organizers estimated there may be as many as 200 soldiers in the country who have not yet sought formal protection.

“They say we’re traitors, we’re deserters,” said former Marine Chris Magaoay, 20, of the Hawaiian island of Maui. “No, I’m a Marine and I stand up for what I believe in, and I believe the Constitution of the United States of America is being pushed aside as a scrap piece of paper.”

But, Magaoay’s statement is an EXCUSE. He volunteered to serve. No one forced him to sign up and certainly no one expects a 20 year old kid to be deciding United States foreign policy. He deserted and should pay the penalty and then resume his life.

Canada should deport these MORONS and allow the United States military deal with them according to established due process of law. They are not entitled to anything more.
