    gallowayjuly22aweb

Azzam Tamimi, George Galloway and other leaders form the frontline of the protest.

SCUM George Galloway praises Hezbollah at a protest in London today.

    gallowayjuly22bweb

George Galloway was one of about 20 speakers, and he tried to be as controversial as possible.

    Quoting him:

“What I’m about to say is illegal in this country …

Hezbollah has never been a terrorist organisation. I am here to glorify the Lebanese resistance, Hezbollah, and to glorify the resistance leader, Hassan Nasrallah …”

    Galloway is JUST SCUM…….

Look at more photos of the protest here (note some photos may not be appropriate for children).

Senator Joe Lieberman Watch: New Poll – Lamont Beating Lieberman 51% to 41%

    liebermanjuly22aweb

Ned Lamont, who is challenging incumbent U.S. Sen. Joseph Lieberman for the Democratic nomination for the U.S. Senate in Connecticut, left, talks to supporter Harriet Geragosian of New Britain, right, during a news conference outside Grove Hill Medical Center in New Britain, Conn., Thursday, July 20, 2006. Lamont now holds a slight lead over Lieberman among likely Democratic voters, according to a new Quinnipiac poll.

New Rasmussen poll: Lamont, 51%: Lieberman 41%

Rasmussen is to release a new poll on CT senate primary. According to this poll, Lieberman is going to face a crushing defeat losing to Lamont by 41% to 51%.

In an anticipated three-way race in which Lieberman runs as an independent, the result is a deadheat:

    Lieberman(I): 40%, Lamont(D): 40%, Cand(R): 13%.

Looks like Joe will be running as an independent.

Will the GOP aid Lieberman, running as an independent?

    Perhaps…..

John Bolton Watch: Senate Republicans Schedule Confirmation Hearing for United Nations Ambassador Bolton

    boltonjuly22ajpgweb

John Bolton, United States Ambassador to the United Nations , addresses the Security Council meeting on the situation in the Middle East. Speakers at a UN Security Council debate demanded a quick end to the bloodshed in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip as UN relief coordinator Jan Egeland announced a trip to the region to assess a worsening humanitarian crisis.

Reuters: White House moves to confirm Bolton to UN post

Senate Republicans on Friday scheduled a confirmation hearing on John Bolton, who is serving as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations on a presidential appointment, as the White House renewed its bid to get Bolton approved by the Senate.

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee announced it will hold a hearing with Bolton on July 27 and top Senate Republicans said they would move quickly to confirm President George W. Bush’s pick.

The President is correct in pusing a vote on Bolton’s confirmation before the Fall elections. Bolton has done a credible job as United Nations Ambassador and he is who the President wants in this job. This is not a life-tenure appointment and the threshold for presidential courtesy is extraordinarily petty politically.

Bush bypassed the Senate and appointed Bolton during a congressional recess last year after Democrats blocked his confirmation amid accusations he had used his position as the top U.S. diplomat for arms control to bully intelligence analysts.

The White House moved again for a Senate endorsement after Ohio Republican Sen. George Voinovich (news, bio, voting record), who joined Democrats in blocking Bolton last year, said on Thursday he now backs him.

Senate Republicans and the administration expressed confidence Bolton would be approved this time, particularly with the need for an experienced hand at the United Nations during the Middle East crisis.

Will the President be successful this time with the Senate?

    Possible…

But, at the very least, there will be GOP controlled hearings painting the Dems as weak on supporting America’s international interests by obstructioning the President. The Pro-Israeli lobby would also, most likely, way into the campaign for Bolton’s confirmation and these folks are already pissed at Lefty Democrats who are attacking Senator Joe Lieberman in Connecticut.

Several Democrats said they still opposed Bolton, a harsh critic of the United Nations known for an abrasive manner.

Sen. Joseph Biden (news, bio, voting record) of Delaware, top Democrat on the Foreign Relations Committee, said on Thursday Senate should not vote on Bolton unless the White House turns over documents that the Democrats sought last year.

Biden also said Bolton’s U.N. performance “confirms my conviction he is the wrong person for this job” and the administration should find someone else.

Senate Democrats have not yet discussed whether to try to block a vote on Bolton, a spokesman for Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada said.

White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said there was a desire to move to a Senate vote because “people have seen the fruits of John Bolton’s labor at the United Nations,” and said he was “doing a tremendous job.”

Slow Joe Biden who wants to be President will bloviate (as usual) to entertain the lefty netroot NUTTERS who have abandoned Hillary Clinton and Joe Lieberman for their Iraq War positions/votes. And besides good lefty theater who benefits from the obstruction of John Bolton besides the self-serving Democrat Senators who want to please Kos and Huggington?

The answer is NO ONE BESIDES THEMSELVES.

Flap handicaps that John Bolton will win confirmation as United Nations Ambassador after the September recess.

    boltonjuly22bjpgweb

United States Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice (R) sits with U.S. Ambassador to the UN John Bolton as they meet in New York, July 21, 2006, with a three member United Nations team who just returned from Israel and Lebanon to discuss the current crisis in the region.

    Captain Ed has Bolton Redux

Don’t expect too many of his caucus to attempt to force a filibuster to block Bolton. This time around, they will only expose themselves as obstructionists, dangerous obstructionists in a time of war. Bolton has already shown them up once, and the Democrats would be well advised to avoid it a second time.

    Stay tuned……

Iran Nuclear Watch: Russia Reneges on Iran United Nations Security Council Resolution

    irannukejuly22cweb

Iran’s former President Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani delivers a sermon during Friday prayers ceremonies in Tehran, Iran April 28, 2006. The U.N. Security Council risks committing ‘a historic act of tyranny’ against Iran if it passes a resolution demanding Tehran stop making nuclear fuel, Rafsanjani said on Friday.

AP:Russia now opposes key parts of Iran draft

Russia is unexpectedly opposing key parts of a U.S.-backed Security Council draft resolution on
Iran’s nuclear program, threatening international unity on how to handle Tehran’s defiance, U.N. diplomats said Saturday.

Particularly vexing to the United States and its allies is Moscow’s refusal to endorse language demanding that Tehran freeze uranium enrichment or face potential sanctions. That refusal appears to contradict previous signals suggesting Russia was ready to support a tougher line against Iran.

The diplomats may be surprised but Flap is NOT surprised and most Americans are NOT surprised. The Russians and Russia President Vladimir Putin are just pissed off at President Bush’s refusal to allow WTO membership (at last weeks G-8 summit in St. Petersburg). Hell, Bush should have kicked Putin to the curb on G-8 (7) membership but he hasn’t – so far.

    irannukejuly22bweb

Russian President Vladimir Putin gestures during the session of the State Council in Moscow, Friday, July 21, 2006.

As recently as July 12, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov delivered a veiled warning to Tehran on enrichment and its refusal to respond to an international offer to negotiate its nuclear program, saying the Security Council “will consider steps appropriate to the situation” if the Islamic republic does not comply.

The diplomats, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the dispute, told The Associated Press there was no indication what was dictating the apparent change in Russian tactics.

But it could be as simple as Moscow’s belief that Tehran would not give up its right to enrichment. If so, any resolution demanding it do so and threatening penalties if it does not would escalate the confrontation — something the Russians fear could lead to military action.

The Russians and Chinese have NEVER supported UNSC sanctions against Iran. Only fools in the State Department or international diplomatic corps could believe something so preposterous.

China receives over 40 per cent of their oil from Iran and Russia makes Iran petro dollars by selling Iran nuclear reactor technology and services. Neither of these countries have an economic incentive to “cut their nose off to spite their face” economically. And there is a bonus: Iran is glad to poke the United States in the eye every chance it gets and tie up American resources.

    irannukejuly22aweb

A general view shows the Bushehr nuclear power plant in the Iranian Persian Gulf port of Bushehr, 1,200 Kms south of Tehran, in June 2006. France circulated a revised draft resolution in the UN Security Council that legally requires Iran to suspend all uranium enrichment and reprocessing activities.

A draft resolution drawn up by Britain and France and circulated last week among most members of the 15-nation council demands that Tehran “suspend all enrichment-related and reprocessing activities … and suspend the construction” of its heavy water reactor, which can produce plutonium.

One of the diplomats said that demand reflected the agreement among Russia and the five other nations at the July 12 meeting in the French capital but Moscow now was “trying to distance itself from the Paris declaration.”

“They now want to water down the text,” the diplomat said.

Should the United States continue this charade of negotiations?

    Maybe

Only if President Bush allows John Bolton to force a tough Chapter 7 resolution against Iran in the UNSC. If China and Russia wish to veto the resolution then let them veto it. No compromise resolution like North Korea. The USA must force the issue in the United Nations and if a vote fails then impose more strict American sanctions with Britain and possibly France.

As Flap has maintained from the beginning when a “point of no return” in Iran’s nuclear enrichment program occurs and it becomes imminent that Iran will achieve a nuclear weapon, it will be the United States and Israel that will stop them.

In the meantime, the centrifuges continue to enrich uranium in Natanz.
