Iran Nuclear Watch: Iran Rejects Terms of United Nations Security Council Resolution

    irannukejuly30dweb

Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad speaks at Tehran University July 30, 2006

Reuters: Iran rejects terms of UN resolution

The people of Iran are entitled to produce their own nuclear fuel, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Sunday, rejecting the terms of a draft U.N. resolution that demands it give up its nuclear work.

“The people of Iran, in accordance with international norms and laws, have the right to take advantage of peaceful nuclear technology,” he told a news conference in Tehran.

The United Nations Security Council will consider, debate and vote upon the French sponsored Chapter 7 resolution regarding Iran’s nuclear program sometime this coming week.

But, Ahmadinejad has already rejected this resolution before it is EVEN adopted.

And the Iran President is threatening more……surprise…. surprise…….

AFP: Iran warns UN over nuclear resolution

Iran has threatened to bin an international proposal over its nuclear programme if the UN Security Council passes a resolution demanding that Tehran freeze sensitive uranium enrichmen.

Foreign ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi also said Tehran could “revise” its policies — implicitly warning that future access for United Nations inspectors could end — and said the proposed UN resolution would “worsen the crisis in the region”.

“By putting pressure and trying to intimidate Iran, no country will achieve anything. On the contrary, the situation will worsen,” Asefi warned on Sunday.

“If tomorrow they pass a resolution against Iran, the package will not be on the agenda any more,” he said of an international proposal offering incentives to Iran in return for a suspension of uranium enrichment.

The proposal was drawn up by the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany.

How preposterous. This is such a shallow threat……

Iran will NEVER adopt the P-5-Plus-1 proposal because they will NEVER voluntarily cease uranium enrichment?

    Why?

They covet nuclear weapons……so they can slip a few to their Hezbollah buddies and wipe Israel off the face of the earth – like Ahmadinejad has said.

Oh, the French Chapter 7 resolution will be adopted this coming week. But, the resolution has NO teeth and Russia and China will NEVER sanction Iran. Where does that leave the United States?

Where America was many months ago.

Israel and the United States will deal with Iran militarily when a “point of no return” is reached for the development of an Iranian nuclear weapon.

    Stay tuned…..

    Cox & Forkum: Usual Suspects

    Cox & Forkum: Usual Suspects

CNN: Suspect ticketed before Jewish center shootings.

Three of the shooting survivors were in serious condition, according to Harborview Medical Center; the other two victims were in satisfactory condition, including a woman who is five months pregnant. Police said she was shot in the arm while covering her abdomen. …According to [Police Chief Gil] Kerlikowske, Haq was upset over three world events: U.S. involvement in Iraq; the U.S. backing of Israel; and what Haq said was the mistreatment of the Pakistani people.

Haq found the Jewish center by researching “something Jewish” on the Internet, Kerlikowske said.

    Seattle PI article:

“He said ‘I am a Muslim American, angry at Israel,’ before opening fire on everyone,” [Marla] Meislin-Dietrich said. “He was randomly shooting at everyone.”

Any characterization of this attack on something other than a terrorist type attack is ludicrous.

The FBI should be monitoring known Islamic fundamentalists and profiling them in their activities for potential terrorist activism in the United States.

Israel at War Watch: Israel Agrees to 48 Hour Suspension Of Aerial Activity

    israeljuly30jweb

Lebanese Shiite children holding anti Israel signs demonstrate in front of United Nations building in downtown Beirut, Sunday, July 30, 2006. Protesters were angry over the deaths of 56 people, more than half of them children, who were killed Sunday in an Israeli airstrike that crushed a building, the deadliest attack yet of the campaign against Hezbollah.

AP: Israel OKs suspension of aerial activity

Israel has agreed to a 48-hour suspension of aerial activity in south Lebanon while it investigates an attack on a Lebanese village that killed a number of children, U.S. State Department spokesman Adam Ereli said Sunday.

The airstrike killed at least 56 Lebanese, mostly women and children, when it leveled a building where they had taken shelter. The deadliest attack in nearly three weeks of warfare forced Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to cut short a Mideast mission and increased world pressure on the United States to back an end to the fighting.

Ok, lets take a look at why Qana Village was attacked by Israel in the first place.

    israeljuly30gweb

Cities on which rockets were fired from Qana.

Israel apologized for the deaths but blamed Hezbollah guerrillas, saying they had fired rockets into northern Israel from near the building. Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said the campaign to crush Hezbollah would continue, telling Rice it could last another two weeks.

“We will not stop this battle, despite the difficult incidents this morning,” he told his Cabinet after the strike, according to a participant. “If necessary, it will be broadened without hesitation.”

The fact is the Israeli Defense Forces bombing of Qana Village resulted from the continuing Hezbollah rocket barrage into northern Israeli cities. These rocket attacks originated from the region around Qana.

The Israeli Defense Force reiterates “All the villages in the area, including Qana, were warned in advance against staying in areas from which rockets are fired.”

It is regrettable that Lebanese civilians, including children are paying Hezbollah’s price for an “assymetric” war with Israel. Hopefully, during this 48 hour pause additional civilians can be escorted out of the battle zone, if Hezbollah allows them to leave.

The Israeli campaign MUST continue and with more ground troops to clear out Hezbollah strongholds – to disarm Hezbollah.

Any cease-fire without meeting this objective is a defeat for Israel.

Israel at War Watch: U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan Calls For An Immediate Cease-Fire in Lebanon

    israeljuly30bweb

Israeli soldiers look at smoke rising from Lebanon, in the northern Israeli town of Metula Sunday July 30, 2006. Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert expressed ‘great sorrow’ Sunday for the airstrikes that destroyed houses in the Lebanese town of Qana and killed dozens of people, many of them children, but blamed Hezbollah guerrillas for using the area as a base for launching rockets at Israel.

AP: Annan calls for end to fighting in Lebanon

U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan called again for an immediate halt to violence between
Israel and Hezbollah, telling the U.N. Security Council he was “deeply disturbed” that his previous appeals went unheeded.

Annan condemned an Israeli airstrike that killed at least 54 people in Lebanon early Sunday, telling an emergency council meeting that it must demand an end to the violence.

“We meet at a moment of extreme gravity first and foremost for the people of the Middle East but also for the authority of this organization and especially this council,” Annan said. “Action is needed now before many more children, women and men become casualties of a conflict over which they have no control.”

The council been unable to take a stand on the fighting since it began three weeks ago. That is partly because the United States, unlike other members of the council, has refused to back Annan’s calls for an immediate cease-fire.

The United States should and MUST veto any resolution calling for an immediate cease-fire against Hezbollah. Will calling for Israel to lay down its arms be reciprocated by the terrorist Hezbollah?

    There is NO gurantee.

There is NO international force that will fight and disarm Hezbollah.

An immediate cease-fire assures Hezbollah a VICTORY in the Global War on Terror.

    israeljuly30aweb

Red Cross paramedics evacuate an injured Lebanese man recovered from the rubble of a demolished building that was struck by Israeli ware plane missiles at the village of Qana near the southern Lebanon city of Tyre, Sunday, July 30, 2006. At least 50 people, including scores of children, were killed Sunday in an Israeli airstrike on this southern Lebanon village _ the deadliest attack in 19 days of fighting. Infuriated Lebanese officials canceled a planned visit by U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, adding a major new hurdle to efforts to bring a cease fire.

In unusually frank terms, Annan said the council risked undermining its own authority if it does not take action.

“People have noticed its failure to act firmly and quickly during this crisis,” Annan said.

Lebanese special envoy Nouhad Mahoud criticized the council for its lack of action.

“Israel is committing atrocities against humanity,” Mahoud said. “The fact that such massacres are yet … to be taken up by resolutions of this august council, condemning an israeli airstrike that killed at least 54 people and that fact does not mean that the truth is to remain hidden.”

Israel is NOT committing atrocities against humanity.

Hezbollah started the conflict and continues to shoot rockets ATTEMPTING to kill Israeli civilians. Israel did not attempt purposely to kill these Lebanese civilians but why the hell are there still civilians in southern Lebanon anyway?

Israel was attacking Hezbollah “cowardly blended” terrorists who were using this area to stage rocket attacks on Israel civilians.

    A cease-fire?

NO WAY – until Israel continues their campaign to seriously weaken and disarm Hezbollah. Anything less will be a defeat for Israel and protracted, yet postponed, continuing warfare with Hezbollah, Syrian and Iran.

    Stay tuned…..
