Iran Watch: Governor Mitt Romney Orders Massachusett’s Agencies to Refuse Assistance to Mohammad Khatami

    irannukesept5gweb

Former Iranian President Mohammad Khatami , right, and Desmond Tutu, left, the Archbishop of Cape Town participate in a high-level group of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations meeting at United Nations headquarters Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2006.

Boston Globe: Romney orders state agencies not to cooperate with Iranian leader

Gov. Mitt Romney on Tuesday ordered all state agencies to refuse any assistance — if it is requested — when the former president of Iran visits Massachusetts this weekend.

The Republican chief executive, a potential candidate for his party’s 2008 presidential nomination, said Mohammed Khatami oversaw torture and the murder of dissidents, as well as Iran’s secret nuclear program, while in office from 1997 to 2005.

“State taxpayers should not be providing special treatment to an individual who supports violent jihad and the destruction of Israel,” Romney said in a statement.

The U.S. State Department will be providing security for Khatami during his visit Sunday to the Boston area, which will include a speech at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. Romney’s action, however, means Khatami will be denied an official police escort and other VIP treatment when he is in town.

    Good for Governor Romney.

Maybe this action will wake up Nicholas Burns or Condoleezza Rice over at Foggey Bottom. The Islamofascist Khatami should NEVER have been granted an American Visa in the first place.

Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney delivers his annual State of the Commonwealth, January 18, 2006.

    And you ask why?

Romney cited a litany of hateful actions by Khatami, including his support for violent jihadist activities:

    • During the period of time he was in office, from 1997 to 2005, Khatami presided over Iran’s secret nuclear program. Currently, the Iranian Government under President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is snubbing the international community’s request to cease nuclear weapons production.
    • In the recent conflict along the Israel-Lebanon border, Khatami described the terrorist group Hezbollah as a “shining sun that illuminates and warms the hearts of all Muslims and supporters of freedom in the world.”
    • Khatami has endorsed Ahmadinejad’s call for the annihilation of Israel.
    • During Khatami’s presidency, Iran refused to hand over the Iranian intelligence officials who were responsible for the attack on the Khobar Towers that killed 19 U.S. military personnel.
    • In his own country, Khatami oversaw the torture and murder of Iranian students, journalists, and others who spoke out for freedom and democracy. Khatami relaxed freedom of speech laws giving democracy reformers a false sense of security only to engage in one of the largest crackdowns in the country’s history.
    • In Khatami’s Iran, there was no religious tolerance. According to the U.S. Office of International Religious Freedom, Iran was one of the worst offenders of religious persecutions. Minorities, such as Evangelicals, Jews, Catholics and others, have suffered.

“Khatami pretends to be a moderate, but he is not. My hope is that the United States will find and work with real voices of moderation inside Iran. But we will never make progress in the region if we deal with wolves in sheep’s clothing,” said Romney.

Sounds like a run of the mill Islamic terrorist leader THUG to Flap.

Why should the United States State Department give Khatami a platform for his militant Iranian propaganda?

Illegal Immigration Watch: Miller Brewing Company Sponsoring Illegal Alien Protest – The SPIN Part II

Michelle Malkin: Brew your own beer

I’m getting tons of reports from readers and bloggers who are receiving stock e-mail replies and blog comments posted by Miller Media Relations denying that they sponsored the Chicago illegal alien march this weekend and claiming that the company supports the full enforcement of immigration laws. I also received the boilerplate CYA statement.

    Flap received two boilerplate responses:

I thought you would be interested in receiving the following official statement from Miller Brewing Company regarding the immigration issue:

Miller Brewing Company has never supported illegal immigration and we have always supported the full enforcement of current U.S. laws.

Miller did not sponsor the Labor Day immigration march held in Chicago.

Going forward, Miller will closely review all requests for support from community and charitable organizations to ensure that we are not indirectly funding or associating our name with advocacy efforts on the immigration issue.

We plan to stick to the business of brewing, marketing and selling great beer.

Thanks for your interest in this topic.

    Comment by Miller Media Relations

But, wait a minute. Actions speak louder than words.

The company is being flat-out disingenuous. As I pointed out yesterday, the suits at Miller went out of their way in the springtime to appease pro-illegal alien groups angered at the company PAC’s donation to GOP Rep. James Sensenbrenner, author of HR 4437, the true immigration law enforcement bill. The company caved in and strayed far afield from the business of making and selling beer–throwing its corporate weight against HR4437, pledging to support scholarships for illegal alien students, and vowing to work for the protection “for the rights of undocumented immigrants.”

Sure sounds like support for illegal immigration to me. Maybe Miller should stop playing spin the media bottle and deal with consumers straight.

Indeed, Miller is disingenuous and maybe a few less purchases by AMERICAN consumers will emphasize the point: SUPPORT THE IMMIGRATION LAWS AND STOP PANDERING TO ILLEGAL ALIENS AND THEIR PROTESTS.

Iran Nuclear Watch: President Bush Calls Iran President Ahmadinejad a “TYRANT”

    irannukeseptember5bweb

AFP: Bush brands Iran leader a ‘tyrant’

US President George W. Bush branded Iran’s president a tyrant and compared leaders in Tehran to Al-Qaeda terrorists who cannot be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons.

“America will not bow down to tyrants,” he said in the second of a series of election-year speeches defending his handling of the war on terrorism and Iraq. “The world’s free nations will not allow Iran to develop a nuclear weapon.”

President Bush has decided to step up the rhetoric against Iran.

Will this be a war of media cycles between Bush and Ahmadinejad?

    Probably

And what about some action like United Nations sanctions?

    irannukeseptember5cweb

The time has come for sanctions on Iran over its atomic program, the US ambassador to the UN nuclear watchdog, Gregory Schulte, pictured March 2006, said

Bush accused Iran of funding the Lebanese Shiite militia Hezbollah and other groups “to attack Israel and America by proxy” and said Hezbollah was second only to Al-Qaeda in the number of US citizens it has killed.

“Like Al-Qaeda and the Sunni extremists, the Iranian regime has clear aims. They want to drive America out of the region, to destroy Israel, and to dominate the broader Middle East,” said the US presidents.

But, he said, Shiite extremists have done something Al-Qaeda only dreams of by taking over Iran in 1979, “subjugating its proud people to a regime of tyranny and using that nation’s resources to fund the spread of terror and to pursue their radical agenda.”

“The Iranian regime and its terrorist proxies have demonstrated their willingness to kill Americans, and now the Iranian regime is pursuing nuclear weapons,” said Bush.

The US president quoted Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as saying, in an August 15 speech, “If you would like to have good relations with the Iranian nation in the future, bow down before the greatness of the Iranian nation and surrender.”

“If you don’t accept to do this, the Iranian nation will force you to surrender and bow down,” he quoted the Iranian leader as saying.

“America will not bow down to tyrants,” he replied.

    irannukeaugust21aweb

    Indeed, America WILL NOT.

Dentistry Today: Politically Correct Burka Scrubs?

    burkascrubsweb

Daily Express: The new look for Britain’s hospitals

THIS is the latest look coming to our NHS hospitals – a burka-style gown for patients.

Instead of standard issue clothing, women who want to cover up because of their faith are to be offered the striking turquoise garment.

Although welcomed by doctors as a breakthrough to encourage Muslim women to seek treatment, critics last night said the move was “another example of political correctness”.

The “Inter-faith gown” is being piloted at Royal Preston Hospital after complaints from women that regulation dress was too revealing. Hospitals across the country are also being offered the £12 burkas by an NHS clothing supplier. Doctors say that many women do not show up for vital operations because they fear the procedure will mean them breaking strict Islamic law.

The hooded “Inter-faith gown” is designed to reveal nothing but the patients’ eyes and hands and yet allow access for surgeons.

    Oh!

Flap thought this was a new surgical scrub. This burka style certainly obviates a face shield, mask and peripheral eye protection – just kidding Dirka Dirka.

    How stupid and politically correct.

“This may be viewed as a reasonable request from one particular group of patients but what I would like to ask is where does that request lie in a hospital’s priorities?” he said. “It is another example of political correctness because it is the sort of thing that has been brought in because the words ‘faith’ and ‘race’ have been mentioned.

“The average patient on a ward will look at this and be resentful because they will say to themselves: ‘This has been brought in because it is a Muslim request’.

“They themselves may have other requests, like more visiting hours, more flexible meal times or a brighter lamp for their bedside table, but they know they’ve got less chance of achieving this. A burka-style hospital gown is only high on the priority list because of the politically correct world we live in.”

Indeed and Flap wonders how much the NHS in Britain will pay for these gowns? Or will the patients have to pay privately?

Iran Watch: Iran President Ahmadinejad Calls for PURGE of Liberal and Secular University Teachers

    irannukeseptember5aweb

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, arrives at his office in Tehran, Iran, on Tuesday Sept. 5, 2006. Iran’s hard-line president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Tuesday called for an anti-liberal campaign in universities, another step back to 1980s-style radicalism, the official Islamic Republic News Agency reported.

AP: Iranian president wants to purge profs

Iran’s hard-line President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called Tuesday for a purge of liberal and secular teachers from the country’s universities, urging students to return to 1980s-style radicalism.

“Today, students should shout at the president and ask why liberal and secular university lecturers are present in the universities,” the official Islamic Republic News Agency quoted Ahmadinejad as saying during a meeting with a group of students.

Ahmadinejad complained that reforms in the country’s universities were difficult to accomplish and that the educational system had been affected by secularism for the last 150 years. But, he added: “Such a change has begun.”

The president, in his role as head of the country’s Council of Cultural Revolution, does have the authority to make such changes. But his comments Tuesday seemed designed more to encourage hard-line students to begin a pressure campaign on their own, thus forcing universities to oust the teachers.

Iran retired dozens of liberal university professors and teachers earlier this year. And last November, Ahmadinejad’s administration for the first time named a cleric to head the country’s oldest institution of higher education, Tehran University, despite protests by students.

And if the Mullahs wish to assure their grip as a THEOCRACY why not stifle dissent at the universities where reform movements may grow from the free discourse of ideas.

Yet, Harvard is entertaining Mohammad Khatami – the propagandist for the Mullahs.

    Unbelievable….

Flap wonders if the academic freedom, but politically correct crowd at Harvard University will confront Khatami and the Iranian Mullahs on this PURGE?

Illegal Immigration Watch: “Today We March, Tomorrow We DON’T Vote”

    illegalimmigrationseptember

Juana Contreras, 67, from Berkeley, Calif., is pushed in her wheelchair Monday, Sept. 4, 2006 with others through downtown San Francisco during a rally supporting amnesty for illegal immigrants living in the United States. Thousands of immigrant rights supporters march in cities across the country to call for support of illegal workers but draw significantly smaller crowds overall than the massive demonstrations that showed the pro-immigration movement’s growing political strength this spring.

Washington Times: Rallies fail to energize Hispanic turnout

Immigration protests that drew hundreds of thousands of flag-waving demonstrators to the nation’s streets in the spring promised a potent political legacy — a surge of new Hispanic voters.

“Today we march, tomorrow we vote,” they proclaimed.

But an Associated Press review of voter registration figures from Chicago, Denver, Houston, Atlanta and other major urban areas that had large rallies found no sign of a new voter boom that could sway elections. There was a rise in Los Angeles, where 500,000 protested in March, but it was more of a trickle than a torrent.

Protest organizers — principally unions, Hispanic advocacy groups and the Catholic Church — acknowledge it has been hard to translate street activism into voting clout, though they insist they can reach their goal of 1 million new voters by 2008.

“I was anticipating a huge jump in registration. I didn’t see it,” said Jess Cervantes, a veteran California political operative whose company analyzes Hispanic voting trends. “When you have an emotional response, it takes time to evolve.”
It’s impossible to count exactly how many new registrants were inspired by the demonstrations because counties typically don’t ask for race or ethnicity.

New registrations were up this year compared with last year, but they were well below the numbers in 2004, and the increase is no surprise at a time when Democrats and Republicans are struggling for control of Congress. Even without that factor, the numbers don’t indicate the watershed awakening advocates had envisioned.

Well, most of the protesters in in the Spring were here ILLEGALLY. And as a consequence they are not eligible to register to vote under any circumstance. Most of the protesters have NOT bothered to immigrate legally into the United States and accept the responsibility of voting.

Are the illegal alien protesters better off today after their protests last Spring?

    NO

The protests in the street highlighted the divisions of the country between East and West and GOP and Democrats.

The Democrats are looking for new lockstep voters and GOP owned mega-businesses are looking for cheap labor, resulting in a stalemate.

As Flap has stated before, illegal immigration will be decided by the next President.

And apparently the GOP Congressional leadership has RIGHTLY discovered this as well. There will be NO immigration reform bill prior to the November election.
