Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Manouchehr Mottaki arrives at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, September 19, 2006. Mottaki said on Friday there was no ‘reason or logic’ to suspending Iran ‘s nuclear work and talks were the only way to resolve a standoff with the West, according to state TV.

AFP: Iran rules out suspending nuclear activities

Iran has said there was no reason to suspend its nuclear activities, maintaining a tough line despite talks with the European Union aimed at persuading Tehran to halt uranium enrichment.

“Iran does not see any reason to suspend nuclear activities,” state television quoted Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki as saying Friday, a day after another key round of talks between Iran and the European Union ended in Berlin.

Mottaki’s comments appeared to refer to uranium enrichment, a sensitive nuclear process that the West wants Iran to suspend as proof that it is not seeking nuclear weapons.

A suspension at least of temporary nature is a key demand of the European Union and United States. Enriched uranium can be used both to make nuclear fuel and, in highly enriched form, the explosive core of an atomic bomb.

But Mottaki said Western countries “have found out that threatening language and a referral to the United Nations Security Council is not efficient and there is no way for them now but to negotiate.”

Now, Mottaki is mocking the feckless European Union and their FAILED negotiations with Iran.

Stop the negotiations and refer this matter to the United Nations Security Council.

Nothing meaningful will happen there with regards to sanctions but the UNSC may inconvenience Iran sufficiently to delay their uranium enrichment program.

Ultimately, the United States and Israel will militarily deal with Iran and their nuclear facilities.

Stay tuned…….

Telegraph.co.uk: Beijing secretly fires lasers to disable US satellites

China has secretly fired powerful laser weapons designed to disable American spy satellites by “blinding” their sensitive surveillance devices, it was reported yesterday.

The hitherto unreported attacks have been kept secret by the Bush administration for fear that it would damage attempts to co-opt China in diplomatic offensives against North Korea and Iran.

Sources told the military affairs publication Defense News that there had been a fierce internal battle within Washington over whether to make the attacks public. In the end, the Pentagon’s annual assessment of the growing Chinese military build-up barely mentioned the threat.

“After a contentious debate, the White House directed the Pentagon to limit its concern to one line,” Defense News said.

The document said that China could blind American satellites with a ground-based laser firing a beam of light to prevent spy photography as they pass over China.

According to senior American officials: “China not only has the capability, but has exercised it.” American satellites like the giant Keyhole craft have come under attack “several times” in recent years.

Although the Chinese tests do not aim to destroy American satellites, the laser attacks could make them useless over Chinese territory.

China is an ADVERSARY. Make NO mistake about it.

China has been unwilling or unable to contain North Korea’s nuclear amibtions and ICBM program.

China has been the chief apologist for Iran developing/acquiring nuclear weapons.

China is undertaking a massive military build-up and now directly attacks United States Spy Satellites.

What can it ALL mean?

China is NOT our friend and a Bamboo Cold War which has been underway since the 1940′s is blossoming.

The United States MUST be prepared for the coming confrontation.

Stay tuned……..

Iran ‘s top nuclear negotiator, Ali Larijani(R) and Euroepan Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana face each other during their first day of talks. The two went into a second day of talks, aimed at persuading the Islamic republic to agree to a nuclear deal offered by world powers.

Reuters: EU, Iran resume nuclear talks

The European Union and Iran resumed talks over Tehran’s nuclear ambitions on Thursday as Washington warned time was running out for a deal to avert economic sanctions.

EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana met Iran’s chief nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani for more than five hours in Berlin on Wednesday for talks aimed at resolving the dispute.

“The only thing I can say is that talks were very intense,” Solana’s spokeswoman Christina Gallach said after the dinner meeting at a suburban lakeside villa broke off.

But…….

In the meantime in Iran……..

AP: Ahmadinejad: We Won’t Forgo Nuke Rights

Iran‘s hard-line president said Wednesday Iran won’t give up “one iota” of its right to pursue a peaceful nuclear program.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad reiterated his uncompromising stance as Iran’s top nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani held talks with European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana in Berlin, described by an EU official as “very intense.”

The Quote:

“In negotiations, they tell us to suspend (uranium) enrichment even for a day on the pretext of a technical problem so that they continue talks,” state-run television quoted Ahmadinejad as saying Wednesday. “Our response to them is that no one has the right to give up the rights of the Iranian nation.”

Now, even Ahmadinejad is “MOCKING” the fecklessness of the EU in their negotiations.

The United States in NOT desperate to reach a negotiated settlement with Iran. The American position is Iran can either suspend uranium enrichment or face sanctions.

Let’s move on folks……

The P-5-Plus-1 Proposal is DEAD.

AP: Little pressure on Hezbollah to disarm

Six weeks after the end of the Lebanon war, the militant Hezbollah group is facing little on-the-ground pressure to give up its weapons and disarm — despite a U.N. cease-fire resolution demanding just that.

The leaders of a U.N. peacekeeping force in south Lebanon say the job is not theirs. And Lebanon’s ill-equipped army, some of whose soldiers wear tin-pot helmets and carry outdated M-16 rifles, shows no signs of diving into a confrontation with battle-hardened Hezbollah fighters.

For now, all sides say it’s likely full disarmament will happen only in the future as part of a political solution — despite the U.N. resolution that ended the 34-day war on Aug. 14 and required disarmament.

This demonstrates the fecklessness of the United Natiions and how ineffective United Nations Security Council Resolutions are. The controling resolution is UNSCR 1701 whose text is here.

Just like Flap said the first time.

Since Hezbollah is not disarming a new war with Israel is inevitable.

Stay tuned as both sides rearm……
