259318358 bbda4274f2 o Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert Watch: RESIGN, Mr. Speaker

House Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill., speaks to reporters regarding the resignation of Rep. Mark Foley, R-Fla., Monday, Oct. 2, 2006, on Capitol Hill in Washington. Hastert said Monday that no Republican leaders saw lurid Internet exchanges from Foley to pages and that he would have demanded the Florida Republican’s expulsion if he had known about them.

Matt Drudge: WASHINGTON TIMES ON TUESDAY WILL CALL FOR SPEAKER HASTERT’S RESIGNATION

Editorial titled: ‘Resign, Mr. Speaker’: ‘House Speaker Dennis Hastert must do the only right thing, and resign his speakership at once… Mr. Hastert has forfeited the confidence of the public and his party, and he cannot preside over the necessary coming investigation, an investigation that must examine his own inept performance’… — Washington Times, October 3, 2006…

Washington Times: Resign, Mr. Speaker

The facts of the disgrace of Mark Foley, who was a Republican member of the House from a Florida district until he resigned last week, constitute a disgrace for every Republican member of Congress. Red flags emerged in late 2005, perhaps even earlier, in suggestive and wholly inappropriate e-mail messages to underage congressional pages. His aberrant, predatory — and possibly criminal — behavior was an open secret among the pages who were his prey. The evidence was strong enough long enough ago that the speaker should have relieved Mr. Foley of his committee responsibilities contingent on a full investigation to learn what had taken place, whether any laws had been violated and what action, up to and including prosecution, were warranted by the facts. This never happened.

Read it ALL.
Flap says Hastert has to go.

And Bill Frist can resign too.

God, the GOP is full of MORONS and do NOT deserve to control the Congress.

A good ol’ fashion Republican blood-letting is on the horizon.

Hear that Mr. President?

The Ryskind Sketchbook: Nags of Our Fathers

The battle for the 8 square mile island lasted about a month. 7,821 Marines were killed on Iwo Jima–5,418 more than died at Pearl Harbor. Americans outnumbered Japanese 5 to 1. If only the Japanese had Nancy Pelosi and Jane Harman to inform us that the War in the Pacific was a failure. Or Dick Durbin and John Murtha to compare Marines to Nazis for using flame throwers, now prohibited under the Geneva conventions or even Harry Reid and Hillary to demand the removal of Secretary of War Henry L. Stimson…

Indeed……

UPDATE: From MKH: From a spokesperson at Frist’s VOLPAC:

The Senator was misquoted. We will have a blog post addressing the AP story very shortly.

Hmm, I’m gonna need a pretty good explanation on this one, but check the VOLPAC blog for updates. I’ll have it up here as soon as I get it, too.

Senator Frist’s Blog post is here and THE MORON did not help himself much.

I’m currently overseas visiting our troops in Afghanistan, but I wanted to take a moment to address an Associated Press story titled, “Frist: Taliban Should Be in Afghan Gov’t.” The story badly distorts my remarks and takes them out of context.

First of all, let me make something clear: The Taliban is a murderous band of terrorists who’ve oppressed the people of Afghanistan with their hateful ideology long enough. America’s overthrow of the Taliban and support for responsible, democratic governance in Afghanistan is a great accomplishment that should not and will not be reversed.

Having discussed the situation with commanders on the ground, I believe that we cannot stabilize Afghanistan purely through military means. Our counter-insurgency strategy must win hearts and minds and persuade moderate Islamists potentially sympathetic to the Taliban to accept the legitimacy of the Afghan national government and democratic political processes.

National reconciliation is a necessary and an urgent priority … but America will never negotiate with terrorists or support their entry into Afghanistan’s government.

Written by Bill Frist, M.D.

Senator Frist do yourself a favor and retire back to being a heart surgeon. As far as your candidacy for the presidency – save yourself the grief.

YOU DON”T HAVE A CLUE!

Captain Ed CRAWLS back for Frist with Frist Didn’t Surrender To The Taliban

So what happened? I think that someone confused “Taliban” with “Taliban supporters” at some point, and whether that was Frist or the reporter will probably remain a point of contention between the two. At any rate, Bill Frist is not calling for the return of the Taliban and an end to democracy in Afghanistan.

And Flap does not buy Ed’s analysis of what the ultimate end game will be in Afghanistan. The end game should be the end of Afghanistan as a safe haven for terrorists that wish to attack the United States. The United States does not have to democratize every country it must subdue. Frist wants to play “hearts and minds.” Flap is more inclined to a more resolute approach.

fristoctober2awebnb6 Global War on Terror Watch: U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist Bring Taliban into Afghan Government

U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist awards a Purple Heart medal to 42-year-old Capt. Jacqueline E. King of Tinton Falls, New Jersey during his visit to Qalat ,the provincial capital of Zabul province of Afghanistan on Monday, Oct. 2, 2006. King suffered burns and other injuries when her Humvee was struck by a suicide bomber’s vehicle in Qalat, southern Afghanistan, June 28. ‘I got blown out of the vehicle and burned and beat up,’ King said. ‘But I’m tough. I got back up. It’s rough. They’re not exactly thrilled to see us here.’

AP: Frist: Taliban should be in Afghan gov’t

U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist said Monday that the Afghan war against Taliban guerrillas can never be won militarily and called for efforts to bring the Islamic militia and its supporters into the Afghan government.

The Tennessee Republican said he learned from briefings that Taliban fighters were too numerous and had too much popular support to be defeated on the battlefield.

“You need to bring them into a more transparent type of government,” Frist said during a brief visit to a U.S. and Romanian military base in the southern Taliban stronghold of Qalat. “And if that’s accomplished, we’ll be successful.”

Is Senator Frist out of his FREAKING mind?

First, he is WRONG about the Taliban fighters being too numerous – since Coalition forces have driven most of them out of Afghanistan into refuges on the Pakistani-Afghanistan border.

Second, Senator, we are in a war and naturally Coalition forces may not be popular. But, remember, what the mission is? To prevent an attack on the United States and Western Democracies by Taliban sponsored Al Qaeda terrorists.

Lastly, the Taliban do NOT want to be part of any government. They want to BE the government.

For the life of me, I have not heard more MORONIC statements by a GOP Senate Majority leader. Except maybe the following…….

The top U.S. military commander in Afghanistan, Lt. Gen. Karl Eikenberry, told
Pentagon reporters last month that while the Taliban enemy in Afghanistan is not extremely strong, their numbers and influence have grown in some southern sections of the country.

The senator said he was warned to expect attacks to increase. There appears to be an “unlimited flow” of Afghans and foreigners “willing to pick up arms and integrate themselves with the Taliban,” he said.

He said the only way to win in places like the volatile southern part of the country is to “assimilate people who call themselves Taliban into a larger, more representative government.”

“Approaching counterinsurgency by winning hearts and minds will ultimately be the answer,” Frist said. “Military versus insurgency one-to-one doesn’t sound like it can be won. It sounds to me … that the Taliban is everywhere.”

Flap agrees wtih Allah and Ace. Perhaps we need to withdraw our troops from Afghanistan and leave the folks there to the Taliban ala Bill Frist. You know win over the “Hearts and Minds.” But…….

258852463 be49c6cb01 o Air America Watch: Sheldon and Anita Drobny Poised to Announce their Takeover of Air America?

The Radio Equalizer (Via Michelle Malkin): TO THE RESCUE?

Apparently riding to the rescue with an eleventh- hour bid for beleaguered liberal talk radio network Air America Radio are controversial co- founders Sheldon and Anita Drobny. Poised to announce their takeover imminently, the Drobnys are said to be acquiring the long- suffering operation for mere pennies on the dollar, the Radio Equalizer has learned.

Other buyout efforts by parties close to the network were said to have failed because of difficulties in putting together the necessary funds. Accepting this bid was seen as a last- ditch way to avoid a complete collapse, which appeared to be just days away (for more on the network’s severe dire straits, watch for an upcoming follow- up to this report).

Sheldon Drobny is an eccentric Democrat Party fundraiser, author and Huffington Post contributor whose past sympathies with the beliefs of Lyndon LaRouche were documented in 2003 by National Review’s Byron York.

And Jerry Springer is gone. What can it all mean?

There is NO market for the crap spewing forth from Air America.

You think?

At least last week Air America was forced to cough up the money to charity from the Gloria Wise rip-off FLAP of last year.

alqaedaseptember30awebcd8 Al Qaeda Watch: Video of 9/11 Murderers Pre 9/11

The JAWA Report: Video of 9/11 Murderers

A copy of a videotape depicting a pre-9/11 party attended by the key players in the hijackings has surfaced.

From TimesOnline.co.uk:

It is the first time that a videotape has appeared of Mohammed Atta — who flew an American Airlines plane into the north tower of the World Trade Center — at a training camp in Afghanistan. It fills in a significant gap in the timing of the build-up to the attacks on the United States.Dates on the tape show Atta was filmed on January 18, 2000, together with Ziad Jarrah, the pilot of United Airlines flight 93, which crashed in Pennsylvania after the passengers apparently stormed the flight deck.

[ ... ]

The high quality, unedited film shows Bin Laden addressing his followers at the mud-walled complex near Kandahar. One of the main figures in the September 11 plot, Ramzi Binalshibh, is identifiable in the crowd, as is a bodyguard whose task was to kill Bin Laden with two bullets to the head if he faced capture.

Dating on the tape indicates that the Al-Qaeda leader was filmed on January 8, 2000, 10 days before Atta and Jarrah recorded their wills.

The videos are here.

alqaedaoctober2awebqt2 Al Qaeda Watch: Video of 9/11 Murderers Pre 9/11

Mohammed Atta is shown in this undated photo originally released by the State of Florida Division of Motor Vehicles Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2001. A previously unseen video made by Mohammed Atta, ringleader of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks on the United States, has been obtained by Britain’s The Sunday Times, the newspaper reported Saturday, Sept. 30, 2006.

alqaedaoctober2bwebnr5 Al Qaeda Watch: Video of 9/11 Murderers Pre 9/11

A British newspaper claimed it had obtained a copy of a film showing 9/11 hijackers Mohammed Atta and Ziad Jarrah, seen here in an undated photograph released by the US Department of Justice, reading martyrdom wills at Al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden’s headquarters.

These videos tie in the involvement of Atta and Jarrah with Bin Laden and the Afghan Taliban. And the 9/11 conspiracy folks?

Out to lunch……….
