Hugo Chavez Watch: Chávez Attacks Bush as a “Genocidal” Leader

    chaveznovember9aweb

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez speaks during a meeting with the foreign media at the Miraflores Presidential Palace in Caracas, Venezuela, Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2006. Chavez said that Democrats made strong gains in U.S. congressional elections thanks to a ‘reprisal vote’ against U.S. President George W. Bush . The picture in the background is the Venezuelan liberator Simon Bolivar.

Venezuela’s president continued his criticism of President Bush after the pro-Chávez legislature declared that the 9/11 attacks were `self-inflicted.’

Miami Herald: Chávez attacks Bush as a ‘genocidal’ leader

When Venezuela’s leftist President Hugo Chávez called President Bush ”the devil” in a U.N. speech in September, many thought his ”anti-imperialist” rhetoric had reached rock bottom.

But fresh depths have since been plumbed. The Venezuelan government, to judge from recent events, officially regards Bush as a genocidal Nazi who arranged the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks to justify aggression against other nations.

In a speech Tuesday, Chávez criticized the decision of an Iraqi court to sentence former dictator Saddam Hussein to the death penalty. ”If sentencing is to be done,” Chávez said, “the first one to be given the most severe sentence this planet has to offer should be the president of the United States, if we’re talking about genocidal presidents.”

    NUTTER, NUTTER, NUTTER

His comments, which were fairly typical of his recent attacks on Bush, came shortly after the publication of a resolution by Venezuela’s legislative National Assembly describing the 9/11 attacks as ”self-inflicted” and after an exhibition at the Foreign Ministry building in Caracas in which Bush was portrayed as a Nazi storm trooper.

The resolution, which appeared in the official government gazette in mid-October, primarily criticized Washington’s decision to build a wall along the Mexican border to keep illegal immigrants out.

But in its fourth paragraph, it calls on the U.S. Congress to “demand that the government of President Bush explain the self-inflicted attack on the World Trade Center and its victims, the supposed aircraft that crashed into the Pentagon and the links between the bin Laden family and the Bush family.”

The resolution, drafted by the deputy chairman of the Foreign Affairs Commission, Carlos Escarrá, was passed unanimously by the 167-member assembly, all of them Chávez supporters after an opposition boycott of elections last December.

Both Chávez and Foreign Minister Nicolás Maduro have referred several times in the past to suspicions that the 9/11 attacks were planned by the Bush administration, and have called for an inquiry.

But this appears to be the first time that the term ”self-inflicted attack” has been used without qualification.

Asked how the legislature had reached that conclusion, Escarrá said that ”evidence and testimonies” had emerged in the United States and that ”for the rest of the world, there is no longer any question” that 9/11 was not an al Qaeda attack.

About the time the lawmakers were approving the resolution, an exhibition called ”Truths About the Empire” was on display in the foyer of the Foreign Ministry. It included a photo montage showing Bush dressed in the uniform of the German SS.

Flap wonders if John Conyers will pick up on this………

Senator Joe Lieberman Watch: Liberman’s Victory – A “Declaration of Independence From Partisanship.”

    liebermannovember9bweb

Senator Joe Lieberman (D-CT) celebrates his victory in Hartford, November 7, 2006.

The Day: Lieberman’s Independence May Not Include Democratic Party

Sen. Joe Lieberman’s press conference Wednes-day at the Goodwin Hotel had been billed as a chance for the senator to elaborate on what he’d proclaimed the night before — that his re-election as an independent would send him back to Washington shorn of his obligations to parties and political concerns.

But if the press conference was any indication, the nature of Lieberman’s new role is a work in progress.

On the one hand, the senator, repeating a line from his victory speech Tuesday night, pronounced his win a “declaration of independence from partisanship.”

Moments later, however, he was assuring reporters that he was still a member in good standing of the Senate Democrats, still in line to retain the perks that partisan affiliation provide, such as his position as ranking member and potential chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Committee.

The Senate Democrat Leadership will give Lieberman whatever he wants. If not…….The GOP takes back control of the United States Senate.

Joe has Harry Reid et. al. by the short hairs……

John Bolton Watch: President Bush Resubmits Bolton Nomination – DEAD ON ARRIVAL

    boltonnovember9gweb

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton listens to statements concerning the Middle East during a Security Council meeting at the U.N. headquarters on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006.

AP: Bolton unlikely to win Senate approval

Prospects for extending John Bolton’s job as U.N. ambassador essentially died Thursday as Democrats and a pivotal Republican said they would continue to oppose the nomination.

It was another blow to President Bush two days after Democrats triumphed in elections that will give them control of Congress next year. On Wednesday, Bush had announced that Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld, a polarizing figure and face of the Iraq war, would step down.

On Thursday the White House resubmitted Bolton’s nomination to the Senate, where the appointment has languished for more than a year. Bush appointed him to the job temporarily in August 2005 while Congress was in recess, an appointment that will expire in January.

Another nail in the coffin for the Bush Administration. President Bush is a LAME DUCK.

Watch for more high profile appointees and cabinet members to leave by the first of the year.

And isn’t Lincoln Chafee a REAL POS?

You betcha…..the Dems can have him – let us hope.

And to think all of that money the National Republican Senatorial Committee spent on him in his successful primary election bid.

Sen. Lincoln Chafee, R-R.I., who was defeated by Democrat Sheldon Whitehouse on Tuesday, told reporters in Rhode Island on Thursday that he would continue opposing Bolton. That would deny Republicans the votes they would need to move Bolton’s nomination from the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to the full Senate.

Democrats indicated that even should the Senate try debating Bolton’s nomination when lawmakers reconvene next week — still under Republican control — they would stretch out debate on Bolton with the aim of killing it.

“I see no point in considering Mr. Bolton’s nomination again in the Foreign Relations Committee because regardless of what happens there, he is unlikely to be considered by the full Senate,” said Sen. Joseph Biden of Delaware, top Democrat on the Foreign Relations Committee.

Bolton should resign when it is personally convenient and thank the President for the experience. United Nations Ambassador is a worthless position for an even more worthless organization.

President Bush should refuse to appoint a permanent Ambassador and let an underling career foreign service officer go through the motions. The United Nations is meaningless anyway.

Arnold Schwarzenegger Watch: Democrat Win “Healthy”

    arnoldnovember9aweb

California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, is flanked by the Mexican, U.S. and California flags as he addresses the media at the presidential palace, Los Pinos, in Mexico City, Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006.
Reuters: Schwarzenegger says Democratic win is healthy

California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, one of few Republicans to shine at the mid-term elections, said on Thursday the Democratic victories were healthy for U.S. politics.

“I think it is good that there are new ideas and new blood because Washington was stuck. They could not move forward, not much was accomplished; I think it was terrible,” he told reporters on a trip to Mexico.

Former bodybuilder and star of the “Terminator” action movies, Schwarzenegger won reelection by a landside on Tuesday after distancing himself from President George W. Bush and adopting moderate positions on some issues.

The California governor is in Mexico for a two-day trade visit.

Easy for the Terminator to say.

Let’s hope he stays GOP enough to terminate Senator Barbara Boxer in four years.

Impeach Bush Watch: Impeachment NUTTERS Begin

    bushimpeach-bush-posterweb

New York Daily News (Via Michelle Malkin): Ex-Dem pol’s how-to for impeaching W

Former Brooklyn Rep. Liz Holtzman has a new book out – and its premise is a dream come true for many Democrats. It’s called “The Impeachment of George W. Bush: A Practical Guide for Concerned Citizens.” Holtzman knows a thing or two about taking on a President because she worked on President Richard Nixon’s impeachment.

“This came out of what I would call my niche expertise,” Holtzman said. “I know what constitutes a high crime and misdemeanor.”

The genesis for the book were newspaper reports that President Bush had given the National Security Agency approval to engage in domestic spying.

“One of the grounds for Nixon’s impeachment was wiretapping in violation of the Constitution,” Holtzman said. “I said, ‘Oh, no, here were go again.'”

In her book, Holtzman and co-writer Cynthia Cooper lay out four other issues on which they believe Bush could be impeached: lying about weapons of mass destruction to justify invading Iraq, allowing the torture of prisoners, leaking classified information and botching the federal response to Hurricane Katrina.

“I thought that when we voted to impeach Richard Nixon, this would send a very strong message to future Presidents – do not put yourself above the rule of law,” said Holtzman, a Democrat. “That message was not heard by President Bush.”

The Moonbat NUTTERS are warming up in the bullpen. When John Conyers takes over the House Judiciary Committee in January the sparks will fly as well as the subpoenas. Will Speaker Nancy Pelosi be able to control Conyers?

    Doubtful…….

Look what Ed Koch former Mayor of New York City says:

“I expect that [Rep. John] Conyers as chairman [of the House Judiciary Committee], now with great freedom, will do anything he can to commence such impeachment or investigatory activity, and we’ll see whether Pelosi will prevent it,” Koch says.

Earlier this summer, Conyers issued a 350-page “investigative report” on the Bush administration that was widely viewed as a road map for Bush’s impeachment if the Democrats took control of the House. Conyers charged that the Bush administration had violated “approximately 26 laws and regulations.”

The GOP can only hope Conyers calls this report up and begins the investigations. This will tie up the House until the next election cycle.

Besides Dick Cheney would then be the President should Bush be impeached and convicted. The way President bush is selling out the conservatives on immigration reform, perhaps a cheney Presidency would not be bad for the GOP or the country.

    Stay tuned for more Moonbattery………..

John Bolton Watch: Biden – “And I Think John Bolton’s Going Nowhere”

    boltonnovember9aweb

U.S. Ambassador John Bolton, left, votes during the 49th round of voting in the United Nations General Assembly, New York, Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2006. Panama was chosen to represent Latin America in the UN Security Council after a three-week deadlock vote that saw Guatemala and Venezuela fail in their rival bids for the seat.

Reuters: Biden says U.N. envoy Bolton “going nowhere”

John Bolton’s troubled nomination as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations is “going nowhere,” a key Democratic senator said on Wednesday after Democrats scored big in mid-term elections.

Sen. Joseph Biden of Delaware, who is expected to chair the Senate Foreign Relations Committee if Democratic control of the U.S. Senate is formally confirmed, told reporters:

“I never saw a real enthusiasm (for Bolton’s nomination) on the Republican side to begin with. There’s none on our side. And I think John Bolton’s going nowhere.”

Slow Joe Plagiarising Biden will NOT chase Bolton out of the United Nations. But, the reader has to wonder why Ambassador Bolton would wish to stay? Bolton has a “recess appointment” and his term expires on January 7, 2007 when the new Congress (Democratically controlled) is installed.

The GOP could call up his nomination prior to January – as they did immediately after Labor Day. But, a Senator, placed a hold on the nomination and the Democrats threatened a filibuster. This attempt then died.

Bolton could be re-appointed for an additional year, but with NO pay.

Bolton, the controversial former undersecretary of state in charge of non-proliferation, was nominated by President George W. Bush to be U.N. envoy in March 2005.

But after his confirmation was blocked in the Republican-led Senate, Bush made a recess appointment, which will last until the new Congress convenes in January 2007.

After Tuesday’s elections Democrats now control the U.S. House of Representatives and probably the Senate as well.

Before voters cast their ballots, there was talk of Bush re-submitting Bolton’s nomination.

Another possibility was having Bush appoint Bolton to another U.S. government job so he could still be paid but assigning him to work at the U.N.

Senate Democratic aides said they did not know if such a move would be legal.

    boltonnovember9bweb

U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. John Bolton is seen in New York October 26, 2006. In an effort to toughen a European draft resolution on Iran , the United States wants the text to say that Tehran’s nuclear ambitions posed a threat to international peace and security, diplomats said. Bolton circulated among a small group a series of amendments, including stronger language on the threat posed by Iran.

If Flap were Bolton I would immediately resign the United Nations ambassadorship and seek employment outside the government. Now that President Bush is a “lame duck” the White House has NO resolve to fight for Bolton.

John, write a book and obtain a university appointment. The United Nations job while being high profile is worthless in any case.

And for the GOP Senate, this is another example of how you squandered the hard fought majority you enjoyed the past few years. And why conservatives lost confidence in you.

    Stay tuned……
