Global War on Terror Watch: Thousands in Indonesia Protest Bush Trip
Indonesian Muslim protester shout slogans during a rally against the visit by U.S. President George W. Bush, Sunday, Nov. 19,2006, in Jakarta, Indonesia. Thousands wound through the streets of Indonesia’s capital and gathered at mosques Sunday to protest U.S. President George W. Bush’s visit to the world’s most populous Muslim nation, some chanting ‘War criminal’ and ‘You are a terrorist!’
AP: Thousands in Indonesia protest Bush trip
Warmly greeted by world leaders in Vietnam, President Bush drew a different reaction Sunday at his upcoming stop in Indonesia, where thousands angrily protested America’s policy in the Middle East and wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The White House said it was confident about security precautions for Bush’s visit Monday despite police warnings of an increased threat of attack by al-Qaida-linked groups.
The president was to spend just six hours in Indonesia, most of it at Bogor Palace, a presidential retreat outside the capital of Jakarta and far from the scene of protests Sunday where Bush was denounced as a “war criminal’ and “terrorist.”
While President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is a close U.S. ally in the war on terror, Bush is highly unpopular in Indonesia, the world’s most populous Muslim nation.
Islamic Jihadis abound in Indonesia.
Remember last year’s Muhammed Cartoons and the Indonesian protests.

Security is tight and President Bush’s visit is expected to last six hours tomorrow. I will be praying for his safety.

Looks like organized demonstrations and nicely, properly printed signs.
What can it all mean?
Organized Islamic hate…………………
You have to hand it to President Bush. He does have the COJONES to stare down the Jihadists in Indonesia. Now, we will see if the Indonesians can protect the President. Scary stuff……
And now there are mechanical problems with Air Force One.
Stay tuned……

Cox & Forkum: Status Quo Redux
Cox & Forkum: Status Quo Redux
After the Republican’s election defeat, Bush and Cheney wore Democrat-blue ties while congratulating Democrats. Considering who Republicans elected to lead them this week, that may be as much change as we can expect.
In TIA Daily, Robert Tracinski observed:
Offered new leadership by the “small government conservatives,” Republicans chose instead to stick with the status quo, choosing to keep semi-small-government advocate John Boehner as their new Minority Leader, and pork-barrel-soaked Roy Blunt as their number two man. It’s a disappointing failure of the Republicans to act decisively on one of the lessons they learned (but apparently not well enough) from the election.
Indeed……..

John Kerry Watch: The “Republican Attack Machine†Is Out to Get Me!
In this photo provided by FOX News, Sen. John Kerry , D-Mass., appears on ‘Fox News Sunday’ in Washington, Sunday, Nov. 19, 2006.
Ian at Hot Air: Video: Kerry on his troop remark: The “Republican attack machine†is out to get me!
John Kerry joined Chris Wallace on this Sunday’s edition of Fox News Sunday to discuss his troop remark and a potential White House run. Kerry immediately saw where the interview was going and tried to spin his way out of answering for his alleged faux pas and on to congratulating the Democrats for their “historic victory†earlier this month. However, Chris Wallace would not let him out of it. Kerry claimed the “Republican attack machine†masterminded the attack on him. It wasn’t everyday people who were offended that an United States Senator called our servicemen and women lazy and uneducated. It was Karl Rove who made Kerry say it.
Kerry is through politically before he knows it.
Flap bets Hillary and Obama are laughing their ASSES off.

Global War on Terror Watch: Saudia Arabia Threatens Tony Blair
Britain’s Prime Minister Tony Blair walks with Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf after their joint press conference at the Governor’s Residence in Lahore, Pakistan, Sunday Nov 19, 2006. General Musharraf urged Mr Blair to back a massive plan for reconstruction in southern Afghanistan in a bid to prise the region away from the grip of the Taliban.
The Sunday Times: Blair hit by Saudi ‘bribery’ threat
SAUDI ARABIA is threatening to suspend diplomatic ties with Britain unless Downing Street intervenes to block an investigation into a £60m “slush fund†allegedly set up for some members of its royal family.
A senior Saudi diplomat in London has delivered an ultimatum to Tony Blair that unless the inquiry into an allegedly corrupt defence deal is dropped, diplomatic links between Britain and Saudi Arabia will be severed, a defence source has disclosed.
The Saudis, key allies in the Middle East, have also threatened to cut intelligence co-operation with Britain over Al-Qaeda.
Read it all
Now, this leads Americans to think about the Saudi royal families’ relationship with the United States.
The President and Congress should re-evaluate the number of student visas granted Saudi students. The 10,000 plus students in American colleges and universities are a disproportionate number and may poise a national security threat.
The number of Saudi student visas was reduced to zero immediately after 9/11 but the sweet-heart deal by President Bush increasing the number is too much. The Congress should call for hearings and legislation if warranted.
Captain Ed has Saudis Play Hardball With Blair
This should be a warning to the West as to the fragility of Saudi support on the efforts to stop radical Islamism … such as it is. They appear to only support the war as long as their endless supply of luxury items, supplied by fraud and corruption, continues without interruption. Counting on their efforts in the long run is a bad strategy. We need to do what we can to avoid antagonizing them, but we had better start working on alternate strategies to work around their petulant obstructionism.
And the Saudi supported American-based Madrasahs – those have to go as well…….
Stay tuned…..

Iraq War Watch: Rangel – Reinstate the DRAFT
Rep. Charles Rangel of New York, left, greets U.S. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y., as she arrives to address the Association for a Better New York (ABNY) breakfast as the guest speaker in New York, Monday, Nov. 13, 2006.
Reuters: Senior Democrat renews call for military draft
An influential Democratic lawmaker on Sunday called for reinstatement of the draft as a way to boost U.S. troop levels and draw a broader section of the population into the military or public service.
U.S. Rep. Charles Rangel, the incoming chairman of the House of Representatives’ tax-writing committee, said he would introduce legislation to reinstate the draft as soon as the new, Democratic-controlled Congress convenes in January.
Asked on CBS’ “Face the Nation” if he was still serious about the proposal for a universal draft he raised a couple of years ago, he said, “You bet your life. Underscore serious.”
Uh – NO!
The all-volunteer army has been working well the past thirty plus years. Why would America need more troops?
The Iraq War WILL wind down and NATO troop commitments should be decreased. Hence, less troops.
Any Iran incursion would not involve any land troops unless there was a declaration of war. Of course then there would be a massive all nation call-up.
Rangel likes politics and government. This initiative is right in character.

Iran Nuclear Watch: Iran Replacing Tehran Nuclear Reactor With Heavy Water Arak Reactor
An aerial view of a heavy-water production plant, which went into operation despite U.N. demands that Iran roll back its nuclear program, in the central Iranian town of Arak, Saturday, Aug. 26, 2006.
Ynet: Iran unveils nuclear reactor upgrade plan
Islamic Republic announces plan to activate 40-megawatt Arak heavy water nuclear center; ‘research reactor due for completion in 2009 and will make isotopes for medical, industrial, and other peaceful uses,’ Tehran Times claims.
Iran is set to upgrade its nuclear reactor capability by replacing its 5-megawatt reactor in Tehran with Arak’s 40-megawatt heavy water research reactor, the Tehran Times reported.
The Iranian newspaper quoted the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran’s Director Reza Aqazadeh as saying that “Tehran’s reactor will be turned off by the time that Arak’s reactor is started up.”
Heavy water nuclear centers can be used to convert uranium into plutonium, for use in the production of nuclear weapons.
Another bombing target for the United States and Israeli Defense Forces. Why is the United States bothering in the United Nations?
Biding time?
Probably

Iraq War Watch: Henry Kissinger – Iraq Military Win Impossible
New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg, left, and Henry Kissinger arrive at the Queen Sofia Spanish Institute 2006 Gold Medal Gala in New York, Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2006.
AP: Kissinger: Iraq military win impossible
Military victory is no longer possible in Iraq, former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger said in a television interview broadcast Sunday.
Kissinger presented a bleak vision of Iraq, saying the U.S. government must enter into dialogue with Iraq’s regional neighbors — including Iran — if progress is to be made in the region.
“If you mean by ‘military victory’ an Iraqi government that can be established and whose writ runs across the whole country, that gets the civil war under control and sectarian violence under control in a time period that the political processes of the democracies will support, I don’t believe that is possible,” he told the British Broadcasting Corp.
But Kissinger, an architect of the Vietnam war who has advised President Bush about Iraq, warned against a rapid withdrawal of coalition troops, saying it could destabilize Iraq’s neighbors and cause a long-lasting conflict.
In other words, Kissinger does not know what do do in Iraq either. He was pretty good at fecking up Vietnam as Flap recalls.
Some old HACKS should just retire and keep their mouths shut.
