Mitt Romney Watch: Presidential Campaign Implodes on Illegal Alien FLAP

    romneydecember1aweb

Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney speaks to opponents of gay marriage at a rally at the Massachusetts State House in Boston, November 19, 2006. Romney, a devout Mormon and former bishop of Massachusetts’ temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is expected to announce in January he will join what is expected to be a crowded field of Republican White House contenders for the presidency.

The Boston Globe: Illegal immigrants toiled for governor

As Governor Mitt Romney explores a presidential bid, he has grown outspoken in his criticism of illegal immigration. But, for a decade, the governor has used a landscaping company that relies heavily on workers like these, illegal Guatemalan immigrants, to maintain the grounds surrounding his pink Colonial house on Marsh Street in Belmont.

The Globe recently interviewed four current and former employees of Community Lawn Service with a Heart, the tiny Chelsea-based company that provides upkeep of Romney’s property. All but one said they were in the United States illegally.

    How do you spell HYPOCRISY?

Put a FORK in Romney’s presidential aspirations – HE’S DONE.

Hugh Hewitt is not ready to admit it but HE”S DONE. Remember Kimba Wood and Zoe Baird and Linda Chavez?

    The beneficiary?

Former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani gestures while speaking during the Riga Conference, on the sidelines of a NATO summit, at Blackheads House in Riga, Tuesday Nov. 28, 2006. According to a poll released on Monday, that scores the popularity of national leaders, Americans have the warmest feelings about former New York City ,Mayor Rudy Giuliani, Republican Senator John McCain and Democratic Senator Barack Obama.

As Flap said the first time……..

    Update:

    Hugh Hewitt responds:

I see that some Rudy and McCain fans are trumpeting the Globe’s non-story on Mitt Romney’s landscaping company using illegal aliens as a campaign killer. Sorry, Flap and Pat, but stretching to assist the Globe in the preposterous idea that Romney’s landscaping company’s employment practices are an issue suggests desperation at Romney’s early momentum rather than discernment of a political event’s significance. Can anyone imagine Senator McCain or Mayor Giuliani arguing in public that they are better candidates for the presidency because their landscaping companies didn’t use labor with proper documents?

Nope, I cannot see them arguing this line. But, I can see voters coming to the conclusion that Romney is either a hypocrite on illegal immigration issues or a light-weight, indecisive and evasive who is not a serious candidate for the presidency (not ready for prime time).

Pat over at Ankle Biting Pundits has a different take on the Romney flap and gaffe.

    Update #2

Patrick Haynes has corrected the record on who wrote the piece at Ankle Biting Pundits:

UPDATED BY PATRICK HYNES: Our friend Hugh Hewitt linked to this story, but he mistakenly attributed this post to me; much as a Romney troll has done in the comments thread. I have commented on Hugh’s blog at Town Hall to correct the record. But we are not complaining … we always love Hugh Hewitt traffic spikes ;-)

Michael Ramirez on Ahmadinejad’s Letter to the American People

    ramireztoon120106web

CNN: Iran letter calls on Americans to change Bush policies.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has written a letter to the American people praising them as “truth-loving and justice-seeking” and urging them to “play an instrumental role” in helping to change Bush administration policy in the Middle East. …In his letter, Ahmadinejad explains he is writing the American people because the two countries share similar values, including the desire “to promote and protect freedom and human dignity and integrity.” …

In his letter, Ahmadinejad — who has called for Israel to be “wiped off the map” — asks what the U.S. government’s “blind support for the Zionists” has “brought for the American people.”

“Is it not because they have imposed themselves on a substantial portion of the banking, financial, cultural and media sectors?” he said, referring to Jewish people.

Iran Nuclear Watch: Ahmadinejad Sends ANOTHER Letter – This Time to the American People

The text of the complete letter is here.

Ahmadinejad and the Iranian Mullahs are NUTTERS who happen to be ISLAMOFASCISTS.

How long will President Bush and Israel negotiate with these crazy maniacal NUTS? And help in the Iraq War – Are you kidding me?

And Colin Powell wants to TALK with Iran and Ahmadinejad?

    Uh……NO!

Nancy Pelosi Watch: Pelosi Names Silvestre Reyes Chairman of House Intelligence Committee

    reyesdecember1aweb

Rep. Silvestre Reyes (D-TX) (R) speaks during a news conference in Washington November 18, 2005. Reyes will become chairman of the U.S. House of Representatives intelligence committee when Democrats take control of Congress in January, Speaker-designate Nancy Pelosi said on Friday.

SF Chronicle: Pelosi names Rep. Reyes to head Intelligence Committee

After skipping over the top two Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee, Speaker-to-be Nancy Pelosi of San Francisco today named anti-Iraq war Rep. Silvestre Reyes of Texas to head the panel whose importance has grown since the 2001 terror attacks and the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

The appointment of Reyes, an Army veteran who later served more than two decades in the Border Patrol, came after Pelosi had passed over the current ranking Democrat on the panel, Rep. Jane Harman of Venice in Los Angeles County, and Rep. Alcee Hastings of Florida.

So, Speaker Pelosi SCREWS OVER Jane Harman and SLAPS Alcee Hastings (redemption wats dat?). Pelosi is not making too many friends in the Black Caucus or among the Blue Dog Democrats.

    Trouble?

    You bet…….

    reyesdeccember1breyes

U.S. Rep. Silvestre Reyes, D-Texas, will be the next chairman of the House Intelligence Committee.

It appears Pelosi’s appointment to key House Committees is based on a new lockstep paradigm of opposition to President Bush and the Iraq War. Since this is a minority view inside the Democrat caucus (since many voted for the war) will Pelosi be able to move the hurt feelings into floor votes?

    Doubtful……..

    And Reyes?

Reyes’s district is on the Mexican border, centered in El Paso. He also serves on the Armed Service and Veterans Affairs Committees and was, like Pelosi, an outspoken opponent of the decision to invade Iraq in March 2003.

In naming Reyes to a high profile job, Pelosi also satisfies another key part of the Democratic coalition, the House’s Hispanic members.

Will Jane Harman remain on the Intelligence Committee?

    Unknown and if removed……

What impact would Harman’s removal be on the 40 plus Blue Dog Democrats?

    Stay tuned……..

Colin Powell Watch: Powell Says Talk Not Attack Iran

    powelldecember1aweb

Former Secretary of State Colin Powell in Newport News, Virginia, October 7, 2006. Powell does not believe the United States will attack Iran and says Washington should speak to Tehran and Syria.

Reuters: Powell says U.S. should talk to Iran, not attack

Former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell does not believe the United States will attack Iran and says Washington should speak to Tehran and Syria.

Powell, who said Iraq was in a civil war on Wednesday, was speaking to the Leaders in London Business Forum on Thursday.

Answering a question from Reuters, Powell said: “Iran is a regional power and it will have to be dealt with. We should find ways to speak to them and also speak to the Syrians.”

And where was Powell during the Reagan and Bush I administrations? Has Colin gone soft or does he wish to stick a finger in the eye of President Bush?

    Probably the latter.

However, he is WRONG on Iran.

How can you negotiate with terrorist minded NUTTERS who wish to impose Iranian radical theocratic/Islamic/Sharia hegemony over the entire Middle East AND “WIPE ISRAEL OFF THE MAP?”

Colin collect your speaking fees and go on the tour with Bill Clinton and then RETIRE……….
