Iran Nuclear Watch: Iran Will Have Nuclear Bomb by 2009

    irannukeapril22007aweb

A technician works in the control room at the uranium conversion facility in Isfahan, 450 km south of Tehran, February 3, 2007. Russia’s leading nuclear scientist said on Monday that it was just a question of time before Iran developed a nuclear weapon and it should be stopped.

ABC News: Iran Nuclear Bomb Could Be Possible by 2009

Iran has more than tripled its ability to produce enriched uranium in the last three months, adding some 1,000 centrifuges which are used to separate radioactive particles from the raw material.

The development means Iran could have enough material for a nuclear bomb by 2009, sources familiar with the dramatic upgrade tell ABC News.

The sources say the unexpected expansion is taking place at Iran’s nuclear enrichment plant outside the city of Natanz, in a hardened facility 70 feet underground.

    And this is a surprise?

Last year Israeli Defense estimates said that Iran’s development of a nuclear bomb was imminent – within a year or so.

Why in the hell do you think they have been stalling with meaningless negotiations at the United Nations and G-8?

In the meantime, a Russian scientist has expressed concern:

Reuters: Russian expert says Iran can make nuclear weapons

Russia’s leading nuclear scientist said on Monday that it was just a question of time before Iran developed a nuclear weapon and it should be stopped.

The Islamic republic, facing a showdown with the United States over its nuclear ambitions, clearly has the know-how to make atomic weapons, said Yevgeny Velikhov, a leading physicist and close associate of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“From a scientific point of view of course they could create nuclear weapons,” Velikhov, president of Russia’s Kurchatov Institute, told reporters. “When they could do it is a more difficult question.”

“If you remember, U.S. scientists expected the Soviet Union would only be able to create a nuclear bomb by around 1954 at the earliest,” he said.

“They were rather surprised when we created one in 1949,” he said with a chuckle. Velikhov trained under Igor Kurchatov, the leader of the Soviet atomic bomb project.

The “NUCLEAR POINT OF NO RETURN” has been reached with Iran.

Will the United States and Israel do anything about it?

Stay tuned as the USS Nimitz sets sail from Malaysia – destination, the Persian Gulf.

Giuliani Notes: New Hampshire House Party Hosts Rudy

    giulianiapril2bweb

Republican presidential candidate and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R) greets a guest at a house party in Hampton Falls, New Hampshire, April 2, 2007.

AP: Giuliani says he’s the only fiscal conservative of the bunch

Republican presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani told New Hampshire voters he’s the only fiscal conservative among the crowded field, emphasizing his record as New York mayor as an example of what he’d do as president.

Giuliani, speaking at his first New Hampshire house party, told an overflow crowd he cut taxes 23 times and still produced healthy budgets.

“I think I’ve practiced it more than any of my good friends who are running,” he said.
Giuliani pointed to New Hampshire as a model. “You know why you have one of the best economies in the country? Because you have no taxes.”

    Rudy is correct.

McCain nor Romney are fiscal conservatives. Look at Rudy’s record of tax cuts in New York City and the success of its economy while he was Mayor.

    giulianiapril2aweb

And what else did Rudy address at the New Hampshire House Party?

    Keeping private healthcare private:

The Democrats want to limit choice, the former mayor said.

“I think their motto is like continental Europe — they want us to be like France, or like Germany,” he continued. “Ever meet anyone who asked you for help getting into a French-German hospital?”

    Iran:

Giuliani repeated his stance against Iran and said international pressure and a Reaganesque resolve will be the key to stopping the country from getting nuclear weapons.

“You’ve got to be able to say to Iran … No way, no how, are you getting nuclear weapons, no way, no how.”

    Iraq War:

Giuliani also criticized congressional Democrats for voting against the war. “It makes no sense for a retreating army to announce a schedule for their retreat,” he said.

During a conversation with visitors, Giuliani acknowledged the war is unpopular, but said the Civil War was equally unpopular.

Stay tuned for another event in New Hamsphire tomorrow morning…….

But, since today is opening day for the New York Yankees, here are a couple of photos of Rudy from earlier in the day:

Michael Ramirez on Iran-UK Hostage Crisis

    ramireztoon040307web

Yes, Michael, the situation of the Iran-UK Hostage Crisis is very much like Neville Chamberlain and Hitler as a prelude to World War II.

    Neville_Chamberlain2web

Chamberlain holds the paper containing the resolution to commit to peaceful methods signed by both Hitler and himself on his return from Germany at Heston Airport in September 1938. He said:

My good friends, for the second time in our history, a British Prime Minister has returned from Germany bringing peace with honour. I believe it is peace for our time.

    UK ‘shares Iran diplomacy desire’

Ali Larijani, of the Supreme National Security Council, said Iran’s priority was to use diplomatic channels, not putting the crew on trial.

The Foreign Office said it was still studying his remarks, made to Channel 4 News, but shared his preference for bilateral discussions.

It said it would be following up his comments with Iran on Tuesday.

A Foreign Office statement said: “There remain some differences between us, but we can confirm we share [Dr Larijani’s] preference for early bilateral discussions to find a diplomatic solution to this problem.

“We will be following up with the Iranian authorities tomorrow, given our shared desire to make early progress.”

Sounds like “peace in our time” or APPEASEMENT to Flap.

And, now, the British newspapers are blaming the United States for protecting its own interests and troops during the Iraq War for provoking Iran.

Giuliani Notes: Rudy Reports $15 Million in First Quarter Receipts

    giulianioctober4aweb

Giuliani Reports Over $15 Million in Receipts for First Quarter, Raises More Than $10 Million in Primary Funds During March Alone

The Rudy Giuliani Presidential Exploratory Committee today reported more than $15 million in receipts for the primary during the first quarter. The Committee raised nearly $14 million in primary election funds with over $11 million cash on hand, the vast majority of which is primary money. More than $10 million in primary funds was raised in March alone, highlighting a very healthy fundraising pace. Including the money raised at the one event in December, the Committee has close to $17 million in primary receipts.

Giuliani Campaign Manager Mike DuHaime said, “We are thrilled by the response to Mayor Giuliani’s optimistic vision, experienced leadership and proven record of results. Considering our late start, we are very pleased by the pace raised in March and see it as a positive indication of what’s to come.”

    *******

The result will lag behind McCain (Rudy beats McCain in an updated total) and Romney.

The question is: Will Rudy be able to capitalize on his poll standings?

There is hope with $10 million in receipts during Marchtorrid pace.

    Rudy has the Mo…..

But, the Giuliani campaign will have to do better.

    Update:

The Mitt Romney campaign is reporting $23 $20 million in total receipts.

    Update #2

The McCain campaign is reporting $12.5 million in receipts:

During the first quarter of 2007, John McCain 2008 campaign received nearly 60,000 contributions from all 50 states, averaging $200 per contribution. The McCain campaign will report over $12.5 million in contributions for the first quarter.

Campaign Manager Terry Nelson said, “Although we are pleased with the organization we’ve built and polls show us strongly positioned in key primary states, we had hoped to do better in first quarter fundraising. We are already in the process of taking the necessary steps to ensure fundraising success moving forward.” Nelson added, “Fundraising in the first quarter is no more important than fundraising throughout the entire primary election campaign.”

Giuliani Notes: Florida – Rudy Beats Hillary and GOP Field

    giulianioctober4aweb

Giuliani Widens Lead Over Clinton In Florida, Quinnipiac University Poll Finds

Former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani has opened double-digit leads over top 2008 Democratic presidential contenders in Florida, beating either New York Sen. Hillary Clinton or former Sen. John Edwards 50 – 40 percent, and topping Illinois Sen. Barack Obama 52 – 36 percent, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today.

This compares to a 47 – 42 percent Giuliani lead over Sen. Clinton in a March 7 survey by the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University.

    In the GOP race:

    Rudy – 35%

    McCain – 15%

    Gingrich – 11%

    F. Thompson – 6%

    Romney – 5%

    Favorable vs. Unfavorable Ratings:

    Rudy: 59-19

    McCain: 48 – 25

    Clinton: 47 – 45

    Obama: 42 – 20

    Edwards: 50 – 25

Romney: 65 percent haven’t heard enough about Romney to form an opinion

Fred Thompson: 74 percent haven’t heard enough about Thompson

Mitt Romney will announce his first quater fundraising figures within a few hours. But, does it matter?

Apparently, for Mitt’s candidacy money is not buying you any love. Fred Thompson beats him in Florida and he has not even announced his candidacy.

Look for more attacks on Rudy from the Clinton media machine. Rudy WILL beat Hillary in Florida, California and the Bush won red states – game over.

Giuliani Notes: Rudy’s Lead on Super Duper Tuesday

    giulianioctober4aweb

    CLINTON, RUDY ROMP IN POLLS

Rudy Giuliani and Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton both hold double-digit leads in at least a quarter of the “Super Duper Tuesday” states that will hold primaries on Feb. 5 and help determine each party’s nominee, an analysis of recent polls shows.

Both are leading their closest rivals by more than 10 points in some of the biggest delegate-rich states that could play a role in the revamped primary schedule – California, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and their home state, New York.

The new primary schedule could help candidates who don’t fare well in the early-voting states like Iowa and New Hampshire. It could also let a single candidate gobble up so many delegates that it would be very difficult for anyone else to catch up, with roughly 20 states set to vote that day.

In an obvious campaign strategy, Rudy has been campaigning the most and “being seen” in the Super Duper Tuesday states.

    How well is he doing?

California – Rudy leads McCain by 14 %. California has 173 GOP delegates.

Florida – Rudy leads by 15% and Florida may move its primary election to late January 2005.

New York – Rudy leads by 20% in his home state.

New Jersey – Rudy leads by 39%

Pennsylvania – Rudy leads by 15%

While McCain and romney duke it out in New Hampshire, Iowa and South Carolina – all small delegate states, Giuliani will focus on the later primaries and February 5, 2008.

If the Mayor’s lead continues throughout the summer in these delegate-rich states, the race will be over. At least that is what Hizzoner envisions.
