The big MO in polling is with Giuliani and this is before campaigning begins in earnest!

John McCain Watch: McCain’s Fundraising DEVASTATING to Presidential Campaign
U.S. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., speaks during the Republican party of Iowa’s Abraham Lincoln Unity Dinner, Saturday, April 14, 2007, in Des Moines, Iowa.
Washington Post: McCain’s Campaign Cash Lags Behind GOP Challengers
Senator Spent $8 Million, Reports $1.8 Million in Debt
Sen. John McCain’s presidential campaign burned through more than $8 million during the first three months of 2007, leaving the onetime Republican front-runner with only $5.2 million in the bank, less than half the cash remaining for each of his chief rivals for the GOP nomination.
The Arizona senator’s campaign also listed $1.8 million in debts, including $207,000 on its American Express account, in a report filed yesterday to the Federal Election Commission.By contrast, former New York mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani reported cash on hand of $10.8 million and debts of about $89,000. Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney had almost $12 million in cash and reported no debt.
What in the hell did McCain spend his money on?
Organization is one thing but there is NO efficiency here. McCain has burned through his early money recklessly.
And he hasn’t yet paid the tab for his “Straight Talk Express” bus trips.
Flap says put a fork in McCain – He’s Done.

Mitt Romney Watch: Veracity in Campaigning?
Does Mitt Romney have some VERACITY problems?
Mitt Romney denies abortion flip-flop
And what about the above video?
The Republicans Love Their Federalism Excuse, Don’t They?
Now Mitt Romney refuses to weigh in on South Carolina’s fetal ultrasound legislation.
”I would like to see each state be able to make its own law with regard to abortion. I think the Roe v. Wade one-size-fits-all approach is wrong.”
But governor: is it a good idea? A bad idea?
Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney addresses the York County Republican Party convention in Rock Hill, S.C., Saturday, April 14, 2007. Romney gave the keynote address and spoke about his qualifications as a presidential candidate for 2008.
And, now Hotline contests Romney’s fundraising numbers: Inside Romney’s Fundraising
Hotline is correct. The numbers don’t line up and the Dog does not hunt.
So, does Mitt Romney have some veracity problems with his Presidential campaign?
You betcha
But, if he was higher in the polls, his candidacy would draw the scrutiny. Now he is barely hanging onto third palce behind Rudy, McCain and Thompson anyway.
As Flap said before – put a fork in Romney – He’s Done.

Giuliani Notes: Rudy Calls for Energy Independence in Missouri
Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani speaks at a fundraising breakfast in Springfield, Mo., Saturday, April 14, 2007.
AP: Giuliani wants energy independence
Republican presidential contender Rudy Giuliani called for a national campaign to achieve energy independence during a Missouri campaign stop Saturday.
The former New York mayor said a national program to tap new energy sources, akin to the 1960s technological race to beat the Soviets to the moon, would give Republicans a positive issue to stand for in the 2008 White House race.
“Too much of our party is defined by what we’re against. Too little is defined by what we’re for. When you start being for something, millions and millions of people start to follow you,” Giuliani told a fundraising breakfast for Rep. Roy Blunt (news, bio, voting record), R-Mo., the House minority whip.
“Energy independence, I think, is the single most important thing that’s going to face us in the next four or five years aside from the terrorist war on us,” he told about 200 Blunt supporters who paid $250 each for the event.
Rudy is absolutely correct.
If the GOP does not speak for a positive agenda for 2008, Hillary Clinton and the Democrats will easily beat them.
It is time for the GOP candidate field to start addressing ISSUES. One is energy independence which was discussed during the Nixon Administration and never followed through by subsequent Democrat and GOP Presidents.
Giuliani said energy independence was linked to national security because dependence on oil means the U.S. and its allies have to pay money to “our enemies”, including Iran and Venezuela.
He also called for a renewed focus on capturing al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden, who he said has been “hiding in a cave” since the September 11 attacks. Giuliani drew applause when he criticized deadlines for a withdrawal from Iraq sought by congressional Democrats.
The United States should be able to reduce its need for imported oil. Time to begin was yesterday.
Frankly, the Presidential or congressional leadership has not been there.

Michael Ramirez on the Fat Gene
Experts issue ‘fat gene’ warning
The discovery of a ‘fat gene’ could lead to the ‘danger’ of obese people giving up trying to lose weight, experts have warned.
It could mean obese people will simply blame the gene for struggling with their weight – rather than eating properly and exercising.
New research has found a common gene, named FTO, found in millions of Britons could be largely responsible for exploding rates of obesity. People with two copies of the gene are almost 70% more at risk of being obese than those having none, and three kilograms heavier on average.
The new findings, which estimates 16% of the population has the gene, is the first research to identify a common, population-wide genetic link to obesity.
Flap thinks understanding the mechanism of obesity through themolecular biology of the gene will lead to customized programs for weight loss and the prevention of obesity in the first place.
Flap wouldn’t invest in any weight loss surgery centers.

Giuliani Notes: Rudy 47% McCain 25% Romney 10% in Latest CBS Poll
CBS Poll: Giuliani, Clinton Pad Leads
Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani has widened his lead over Arizona Sen. John McCain in the race for the Republican presidential nomination, according to the latest CBS News poll.
In a head-to-head matchup, Giuliani’s lead over McCain is now 23 points, 52 percent to 29 percent, which equals its February level. A month ago, Giuliani’s advantage was down to 9 points.
With former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney added to the mix, Giuliani comes in at 47 percent, followed by McCain at 25 percent and Romney at 10 percent.
The GOP NUTS:
Head to Head with McCain
Rudy – 52%
McCain – 29%
Multi-candidate field:
Rudy – 47%
McCain – 25%
Romney – 10%
Rudy continues to rack up positive polling results with a double digit lead over the competition.
The latest FEC fundraising filing shows Rudy with almost as much cash on hand as Mitt Romney who raised more but spent more than Rudy in the first quarter of 2007. However, Romney still languishes behind McCain and Fred Thompson in most polls.
