Los Angeles Times Watch: Times is Expected to Cut 5% of Staff
A view of the ” Los Angeles Times ” newspaper building in downtown Los Angeles
Los Angeles Times: Times is expected to cut 5% of staff
The Los Angeles Times is expected to announce Monday a plan to cut about 5% of its workforce, or approximately 150 jobs, as profits at the newspaper and its Chicago-based parent company continue to slide.
Times executives said they expected most of the cuts, including nearly 70 newsroom positions, to come through voluntary buyouts. After the reductions, the newspaper would have about 2,625 employees. The news staff would shrink to about 850 people from 920.
Not a Malaise…….
The Los Angels Times doesn’t get IT, now do they?

France Watch: Conservative Nicolas Sarkozy and Socialist Segolene Royal in Run-Off
Supporters for Frances UMP political party presidential candidate Nicolas Sarkozy react to the announcement of results in the first round vote at a theatre in Paris, April 22, 2007. Conservative leader Sarkozy finished first in the opening round of France presidential elections and will meet Socialist rival Royal in a May 6 run-off vote as voters in France turned out in force.
Sarkozy, Royal get most votes in France
Conservative Nicolas Sarkozy and Socialist Segolene Royal appeared headed to a runoff for the French presidency, according to pollsters’ projections from the Sunday vote, setting up a stark choice of left or right for a nation hungry for new direction.
Four polling agencies put Sarkozy ahead of Royal, and both of them in the May 6 run-off, eliminating the 10 other first-round candidates. The projections were based on actual vote counts from representative samples of hundreds of polling stations across the country. Official results from the election that drew a huge turnout were expected later on Sunday evening.
Left vs Right…..A turning point for France?
Let the campaign begin……

Iran Watch: A Laugh Now for Iran-UK Hostage Mr. Bean
Torture? It’s all a laugh now for Mr Bean …
Remember the grand time the Iran-UK hostages had in Tehran?
Well, the humiliation of the Brits continues…….
Iran hostage Arthur Batchelor’s admission that he cried himself to sleep after his captors likened him to Mr Bean and stole his iPod was scorned as a national embarrassment.
Yet just days after a barrage of criticism for selling his story, the 20-year-old reveals just how little he has learned from the whole debacle.
This picture shows the Operator Mechanic staging a tasteless re-enactment of his 13 days in captivity as he celebrates his home-coming in a Plymouth nightclub. He laughs as he pretends to be held at gunpoint, his ordeal – and his fellow servicemen’s vitriolic response to his behaviour – seemingly a long way from his mind.
Sad………

Hillary Clinton Watch: Two for One? Part Two
Democratic presidential hopeful U.S. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y., greets supporters before speaking at a town hall meeting, Saturday, April 21, 2007, in Marshalltown, Iowa.
AP: Clinton Says Husband Would Be Ambassador
Hillary Rodham Clinton said Saturday that if she is elected president, she would make her husband a roaming ambassador to the world, using his skills to repair the nation’s tattered image abroad.
“I can’t think of a better cheerleader for America than Bill Clinton, can you?” the Democratic senator from New York asked a crowd jammed into a junior high school gymnasium. “He has said he would do anything I asked him to do. I would put him to work.”
Clinton spoke at a town hall-style meeting Saturday where she took questions from about 200 people. When asked what role the former president would play in her administration, she left no doubt it would be an important one.
“I’m very lucky that my husband has been so experienced in all of these areas,” said Clinton, who pointed to the diplomatic assignments her husband has carried out since leaving office, such as raising money for tsunami victims.
That’s precisely what America needs in the wake of a war in Iraq that’s left America isolated and hated throughout much of the world, Hillary Clinton said.
“I believe in using former presidents, particularly what my husband has done, to really get people around the world feeling better about our country,” she said. “We’re going to need that. Right now they’re rooting against us and they need to root for us.”
Because the Lefties and European appeasers do not agree with the Iraq War, that Hillary VOTED for – other countries are against America?
But, like Flap wrote the first time.
Bill Clinton was impeached because of PERJURY of immoral sex acts.
And why do you think Hillary’s favorability poll numbers are NEGATIVE?
America doesn’t want Hillary or a RETREAD.
Hillary measures WHAT?

We’re led to understand that, for their new ad about Sen. John McCain and Iran, MoveOn.org has purchased roughly $44K on Manchester, NH’s WMUR and about $25K in Iowa so far, spread between the Des Moines and Cedar Rapids markets.
Will Bomb Iran have much of an affect on McCain’s Presidential campaign?
How much will this ad buy affect McCain’s poll numbers in the coming weeks?
Flap holds that McCain is DONE. Some in South Carolina think the same.
