MEMRI:Police, Improperly Clad Women Clash In Tehran.
Male and female police officers clashed with women who were not dressed according to the Islamic dress code.
The clashes, which took place at Haft Tir Square in Tehran, came during the current Iranian security forces campaign to enforce the dress code.
One girl who refused to get into the police car was beaten by police, and removed from the area by civilians who were called to the scene.

IRAN: THOSE NOT RESPECTING ISLAMIC DRESS CODE ARE ANIMALS SAYS GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL
Iranians who do not abide by Islamic dress code rules are animals, according to an Iranian government aide quoted by Iran’s official news agency IRNA. “Anyone abandoning the principles of Islamic dress codes become members of the animal world,” said Zahra Suizi, an education ministry official. In an interview on the moralization campaign launched last month by the government of president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, under which women can be arrested if they do not strictly abide by Muslim dress codes, Suizi said the veil “is a moral and religious obligation.”
“The hijab (veil) represents the essence of women and it is the symbol of a population and a country,” said the government official.

The Weekly Standard: The Subjection of Islamic Women, And the fecklessness of American feminism.
The subjection of women in Muslim societies–especially in Arab nations and in Iran–is today very much in the public eye. Accounts of lashings, stonings, and honor killings are regularly in the news, and searing memoirs by Ayaan Hirsi Ali and Azar Nafisi have become major best-sellers. One might expect that by now American feminist groups would be organizing protests against such glaring injustices, joining forces with the valiant Muslim women who are working to change their societies. This is not happening. …One reason is that many feminists are tied up in knots by multiculturalism and find it very hard to pass judgment on non-Western cultures. They are far more comfortable finding fault with American society for minor inequities (the exclusion of women from the Augusta National Golf Club, the “underrepresentation” of women on faculties of engineering) than criticizing heinous practices beyond our shores. The occasional feminist scholar who takes the women’s movement to task for neglecting the plight of foreigners is ignored or ruled out of order.
Indeed, what NOT to wear.
And American feminists?
The slilence is DEAFENING.

Missile Defense Watch: Ground-based Midcourse Defense System To Be Tested Thursday
Missile defense test planned for Thursday
For the second time, a missile defense interceptor is poised to fly on Thursday morning from Vandenberg Air Force Base on a mission to collide with a target launched from Alaska.
The test for the Ground-based Midcourse Defense system, with a price tag of about $85 million, will be similar to one last September.
Vandenberg and Fort Greely, Alaska, are home to missile defense interceptors designed to guard against limited long-range missile attacks against the United States.
Thursday’s launch window is 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday. The missile from Kodiak Launch Complex, Alaska, will blast off first, with the interceptor expected to pop out of its underground silo on north Vandenberg about 20 minutes later.
Lt. Gen. Trey Obering, USAF, left, shows Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld one of the ground based interceptor missiles at the missile defense site at Ft. Greeley near Fairbanks, Alaska Sunday Aug. 27, 2006. This interceptor missile is like the one to be fired from Vandenberg Air Force Base, California on Thursday.
Somewhere hundreds of miles west of California, and 100 to 200 miles above the Pacific Ocean, the pair should meet up, according to the mission’s primary objective.
While the test’s main goal is to end with an intercept, that’s not the only objective, according to Richard Lehner, Missile Defense Agency spokesman.
“But still the overall objective of the test, like all of them, is to measure system performance so that we can make it better,†Lehner said.
Also participating are crews for a specialty radar at Beale Air Force Base near Marysville, Calif., and others in Colorado, home to the command-and-control system. In all, several hundred people at the various sites will participate, he added.
Of course, the Air Force wants to intercept and “KILL” the simulated ICBM launched from Alaska (simulating rogue state North Korea), like the successful test last September. And this test has been delayed for a few months due to software and telemetry updates to the system.
While Vandenberg has previously launched the targets, this will be the second time it launches the interceptor missile.
That’s because the geometry – speed, altitude and trajectory – make it operationally realistic to test the Vandenberg system’s response to a missile launch from North Korea, Lehner said.
If the test proceeds on Thursday, space satellites will deliver the first alert of the attacking rocket’s launch to missile defense operators based in Colorado Springs, the military’s headquarters for homeland defense, who will control the interceptor in its silo at Vandenberg.
The main engagement radar is at Beale Air Force Base, near Sacramento, but the test will allow two seaborne tracking systems – a naval radar aboard an Aegis destroyer and one, called an X-band radar, atop a mobile base the size of an oil platform – to track the attacking missile. But none of that data will be fed into the test.
The previous test, conducted last Sept. 1, was graded a success even by skeptics.
The test was designed specifically to exercise the system’s main radar – but the interceptor actually scored a kill on the attacking missile, even though such a hit was not designed to be a goal of that previous test.
The next test after this one on Thursday, weather permitting, will be in the Fall and will use the sea-platform based X-Band Radar as the primary engagement radar system.
Let’s hope for a successful test and the gaining of more knowledge for the Missile Defense Agency.
By the way, with the Democrats controlling the Congress do not be surprised that funding will be cut for the Missile Defense Agency. In fact, the House has already started to cut appropriations.
Stay tuned……

Giuliani Notes: Rudy 26% McCain 18% Romney 15% Thompson 14% Gingrich 6% in Latest Rasmussen GOP Poll
Rasmussen Reports: 2008 Republican Presidential Primary
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey shows little change at the top of the Republican Presidential field, but former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney has gained some ground on the frontrunners.
Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani remains on top with support from 26% of those likely to vote in a Republican Primary. Arizona Senator John McCain remains in second with 18%. Last week, Giuliani led McCain by seven points, 25% to 18%.
The potentially big change is that Romney has inched into third place with 15%. That’s just a single point ahead of former Senator Fred Thompson, but it’s also the first time Romney has moved ahead of Thompson since the TV star’s name first entered the race. It will take another week or two to know whether the change is significant or merely statistical noise. It’s also worth noting that Romney is within three percentage points of McCain.
The GOP NUTS:
Mitt Romney’s move at the expense of Fred Thompson is interesting. However, it is too early to tell whether this is a BLIP or a statistical anomaly.
Flap continues to believe that Thompson will NOT enter the race. But, if he does it is a stake in the heart of Romney’s campaign.
This poll was taken before the immigration FLAP of the past few days and it remains to be seen as to how much damage McCain’s position on the Senate illegal immigration bill and his smack-down of Romney have caused his or Romney’s Presidential candidacy.
Rudy is sitting comfortably at 26% awaiting a thinning of the ranks. All national polls show him beating McCain or Romney in head to head races.
Flap’s take is that the more candidates, the better Rudy will do. A Thompson candidacy may then be welcome. Nobody will then emerge to challenge the Mayor as the front-runner.
Let’s look at the Real Clear Politics poll averages:Previous:

John McCain Watch: McCain’s Temper an Issue?
Yesterday Senator and Presidential candidate accused former Massachusett’s Governor and also Presidential candidate Mitt Romney of flip-flopping on illegal immigration and the immigration reform bill pending in the Senate.
Mitt Romney is open to criticism of his illegal immigration position.
But, McCain’s criticism and smack-down of the Mittster was over the top.
Listen to the audio here or here:
An angry, profane exchange between Sen. John McCain and another Republican senator last week prompted a new round of questions Monday about whether McCain’s legendary temper is becoming a liability to his campaign for the presidency.
In a private meeting just off the Senate floor, McCain (R-Ariz.) got into a shouting match Thursday with Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) over details of a compromise on immigration legislation. Cornyn accused McCain of being too busy with his campaign to take part in the negotiations, prompting McCain to utter “F… you.”
And McCain has a history of over the top behavior.
Remember the reckless bomb Iran?
And how about the incident with NASA’s Administrator Daniel Goldin:
One bureaucrat who felt McCain’s wrath was former NASA Administrator Daniel Goldin, who was summoned by McCain in 1999, not long after a $125-million probe crashed on Mars because of confusion over the use of English and metric units. McCain’s Senate Commerce Committee had oversight over NASA.
“McCain went ballistic the moment Goldin walked into McCain’s office,” said a participant in the meeting who spoke on condition of anonymity because he still worked in the government arena. “He was shouting and using profanity, saying he was sick of NASA’s screw-ups. It went on for a few minutes, and then he kicked Goldin out of the office.”
Goldin started walking down the hallway but was called back to the senator’s office by a McCain aide. “When he came back in, McCain started yelling at Goldin all over again. And then McCain kicked Goldin out a second time before he ever said a word,” the source said.
Senator John McCain (R-AZ), accompanied by Senator Diane Feinstein (D-CA) (L) and others, speaks during a news conference on immigration reform legislation on Capitol Hill in Washington May 17, 2007.
McCain’s political handlers have plenty of experience in explaining his salty language and strident attacks. His temper has ranged far and wide, directed at other members of the Senate, congressional staffers, government agency chiefs, corporate chieftains, military officers and teenage campaign volunteers.
McCain has shouted at people for any number of reasons, including errors of judgment, disagreements on public policy and even how to set up a podium.
“In McCain’s world, there aren’t legitimate differences of opinions,” said David Keene, chairman of the American Conservative Union, which differs with McCain on some issues. “There is his way and there is evil. That is how he approaches issues. That is one of the reasons for conservative nervousness about him.”
His temper has been an issue for years.
In the 2000 presidential bid, McCain was dubbed “Senator Hothead” by Newsweek. That year, he won endorsement from only a few Senate colleagues. His frequent attacks and volatile personality were most likely to blame. “McCain notes,” which offer apologies after heated words, are held by many members of Congress.
Does America need a President who is in need of anger management class?
Flap thinks not.

Rudy Giuliani Watch: Rudy Opposes Senate Immigration Bill
Presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani signs autographs after speaking in New York, Monday, May 21, 2007. Giuliani was there to receive the endorsement of local New York politicians for his 2008 presidential run.
Rudy opposes the now postponed Senate immigration bill.
The Quotes:
The former New York Mayor said he would like for there to be a system or database that would allow the government to “know everybody who is in the United States, who comes here from a foreign country”.
“If you make that your goal then everything follows from that or leads to that,” he added. “There should be a tamper proof id card, biometric id card that everyone who comes here from a foreign country should have. In order to make sure you identify everyone, in order to be secure.”
“Let’s see what happens in the debates they have now, the Senate has to debate it, the House as to debate it,” said Giuliani. “Let’s see if they can put something like that in, it that ends up giving us more security. The present version of the bill however … I don’t think that accomplishes that.”
This leaves McCain as the ONLY GOP Presidential candidate supporting the bill as submitted – out on an immigration limb that has little or no GOP voter base support.
McCain can make his quips about the Mittster but at the end of the Memorial Day recess he will have to either deliver and vote for an acceptable bill or………
And it is American National Security and not political endorsements that are driving the Mayor’s position.
