Iran Nuclear Watch: Condoleezza Rice – NO War Plans Against Iran
U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, left, smiles as she poses with the President of the Spanish conservative opposition Popular Party Mariano Rajoy before their meeting in the U.S. embassy in Madrid Friday, June 1, 2007.
Rice: No War Plans Against Iran
The U.S. is not preparing for war against Iran and Vice President Dick Cheney supports that policy, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice says, taking a swipe at a U.N. official who says he’s worried about “crazies” who want to start bombing.
“The president of the United States has made very clear what our policy is. That policy is supported by all the members of his Cabinet and by the vice president of the United States,” Rice said Friday.
“The president has made clear that we are on a diplomatic course,” she said in regard to U.S. opposition to Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
Rice, in Spain at the close of a European visit, was asked about the comments of the chief of the U.N. nuclear watchdog agency. Mohamed ElBaradei was quoted by the BBC as warning against the views of “new crazies who say ‘let’s go and bomb Iran.'”
Gad….ElBaradei was referring to Senator and GOP Presidential candidate John McCain:
This is not to say that United States policy should not exclude military action. But, for now, President Bush has ordered a diplomatic track of negotiations to deal with the Iran nuclear crisis.
ElBaradei is NOT helping diplomacy by leaping to conclusions.
Stay tuned…….

Hillary Clinton Watch: Coffin Delays Hillary Sacramento Fundraiser
Hillary Clinton’s fundraiser in Sacramento, California was delayed for three hours yesterday while the Sacramento County bomb squad investigated a coffin brought into the area by anti-Iraq War activists Virginia and Stephen Pearcy.
Anti-war activists Virginia and Stephen Pearcy, who made headlines in February 2005 for hanging an effigy of a soldier on their Land Park area home, brought a flag-draped coffin as a protest against United States involvement in Iraq.
Shortly before 6 p.m. Thursday, the Secret Service began to conduct a sweep of the area and asked to look inside the coffin. Pearcy refused, stating that they had no probable cause to do so. This prompted the Secret Service to call in local law enforcement and a bomb squad.
Former state Treasurer Phil Angelides, along with about 120 other guests set to attend the fundraiser, had to wait several hours before being ushered through a neighbor’s back yard to get to the event.
Around 9 p.m., the all-clear was given by the bomb squad, and the motorcade carrying Clinton arrived at the event.
The $500- to $4,600-per-person campaign fundraiser was being held at the home of real estate developer Eleni Tsakopoulos-Kounalakis and Markos Kounalakis.
Remember Virginia and Stephen Pearcy?
First, there was the effigy outside their home in Sacramento:

Flap supposes the Pearcy’s are NOT big Hillary Clinton supporters.
Wonder if the Secret Service or local police will seek reimbursement for public costs associated with this protest?
Probably not…..

Hillary Clinton Watch: Hillary’s War Part Three
Hillary Clinton addresses Code Pink on March 6, 2003 and discusses Iraq, Saddam Hussein and the run up to the Iraq War.
Yet if we had to guess, the new development that might create the most fodder at the debate is a five-year-old National Intelligence Estimate. In their new book (and magazine article) on Hillary Clinton, investigative reporters Jeff Gerth and Don Van Natta Jr. allege that she never read the NIE before casting her war vote, which the campaign doesn’t deny. Dodd didn’t read it, and neither did Edwards (despite what he might have said on Wednesday). Interestingly, the Biden camp tells First Read that the Delaware senator DID read it — or at least a draft version of it, which the campaign says had no substantial differences from the final version.
Will Slow Joe Plagiarising Biden have the COJONES to bring this up at the Democrat debate in New Hampshire Sunday?
Will Biden ask Hillary? Or Flipper Edwards?
Edwards says he read the NIE; spokesman later says he dind’t entirely understand question, and didn’t mean to say that.
Flap says they dodge the issue at the debate.
Will the press follow-up?
Stay tuned…….

Iran Nuclear Watch: Iran Promises to Discuss Nuclear Activities
Iran’s nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani, right, shakes hand with Javier Solana, the European Union’s foreign policy chief at Quinta palace in Madrid, Spain, Thursday, May 31, 2007. Both sides are in Madrid to discuss Iran’s disputed nuclear program.
The quotes:
“The issue is that any Iranian civilian nuclear program really can’t have the fuel cycle attached to it, or the ability to perfect that technology,” (United States Secretary of State) Rice said, something that could be worked out once Iran sat down for detailed talks.
“What we can’t do is to have negotiations take place while the Iranians continue to perfect their nuclear technology and use those negotiations as cover,” for possibly covert work on a bomb, Rice said.
After all, there is NO rush for a new round of United Nations Security Council sanctions since Iran ignored the previous ones and have continued uranium enrichment.
The previous UNSC sanctions:
Iran will continue to stall until they reach BREAKOUT CAPABILITY.
The NUCLEAR POINT OF NO RETURN is at hand.
