Republican presidential candidates John McCain (L) Rudy Giuliani (C) and Mitt Romney stand at their podiums during the Republican Debate at Drake University in Des Moines, August 5, 2007.

Former Massachusetts Governor and Presidential candidate Mitt Romney attacked Rudy Giuliani today by implying the Mayor supported illegal immigration while he was Mayor of New York City.

Preposterous and besides the Mayor’s record is clear.

Now, let’s look at HYPOCRITE Mitt:

1. Illegal Alien Guatemalans mowing his mansion grounds for ten years.

2. While Romney was governor, the commonwealth of Massachusetts became one of the six states with the largest growth in unauthorized migrant population, from 2002 to 2004, according to the Pew Hispanic Center, with somewhere between 200,000-250,000 new illegal immigrants.

3. In the past, Governor Romney supported more LIBERAL positions on illegal immigration than the 2007 recently failed Kennedy-McCain legislation. In fact, he supported President Bush and Senator McCain’s efforts to change current law in favor of “AMNESTY.”

4. And here is Mitt Romney FLIP – FLOPPING on illegal immigration positions:

5. In 2006, Romney said “those that are here paying taxes and not taking government benefits should begin a process toward application for citizenship, as they would from their home country.”

So, why is Mitt Romney attacking the Mayor?

BECAUSE

Romney is behind in the polls.

Mitt Romney = HYPOCRITE

Mitt Romney = WRONG for America.

  1. BillT says:

Is what Mitt Romney said factually accurate? I haven’t researched the details yet.

  2. Flap says:

Well, research them Bill and get back to us.

    Ok?

    1. How do you know that busnisses you pay for various services don’t employ illegal aliens?? When was the last time you asked McDonalds for the immigration status on the dude making your Big Mac?

    2. Being in a state under siege is all the more reason for him to take the issue seriously which he apparently does. Your point appears to be akin to saying that someone who’s house has been broken to should not be listened to on the topic of prosecuting burglars.

    3. In this clip Romneys is dispassionately describing Bush’s plan and then at the very end of the clip says that it is “A reasonable proposal”. He hardly comes across as a rabid advocate for the plan let alone says he supports it. A person can recognize that something is reasonable without being an advocate for it. In fact can you imagine a movie poster with the quote, “A reasonable storyline!” splashed across it? It’s a lukewarm comment at best.

    4. & 5. The clips show Romney making the exact same point and he has been consistent on it, which is – No plan that gives illegal immigrants a place in line ahead of those who have applied legally should be considered. He has never said anything different than this and your #5 point doesn’t disagree with it either.

Meanwhile you seem to think Guiliani, who openly advocated for illegal immigrants to come to New York City where they could remain safe from prosecution or deportment because he would protect them from immigration authorities, gets a pass and your support on this issue?? i don’t know what your real issue is but I am pretty sure that Mitt Romney, just like me, would characterize it as alot more than unreasonable.
