President 2008,  Rudy Giuliani

In California Giuliani Now Leads Thompson 2 to 1 and Romney 4 to 1

Republican presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani, left, shakes hands while watching a baseball game between the Cincinnati Reds and Los Angeles Dodgers from the owners box, Thursday, Aug. 9, 2007, in Cincinnati.

The SurveyUSA California poll has Mayor Rudy Giuliani leading the California Republican Primary election by over a 2:1 margin.

Meanwhile, Mitt Romney has failed to obtain any voter support and polls a mere 4th place.

John McCain is fading and is now in 3rd place.

The GOP NUTS:

Rudy – 39%

Fred Thompson – 19%

McCain – 16%

Romney – 10%

Note the Mayor’s lead in all areas of California, and his particular strength in Northern California. Since the GOP nomination is based on winning each Congressional district as well as at large delegates, Rudy is best positioned to run the table on California delegates.

Also, as Flap has written before, it is likely that California will change their Presidential Electoral College delegate selection process to also be by Congressional district. The Mayor will be well positioned to contend for many California Electoral College votes in the general election against Hilary Clinton.
