Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and Ana Garcia KNBC Television Reporter

Flap reported previously on the confrontation of KNBC Channel 4 television reporter Ana Garcia and Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa last Friday. She asks the Mayor directly to supply his public records which were requested by Garcia and KNBC News weeks ago and which have been blocked by his attorneys.

Now, remember it was Ana Garcia (who previously was Los Angeles City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo’s communication director) who reported a piece for KNBC when the Villar-Salinas scandal first broke. KNBC is owned by the parent company NBC Universal who also owns Telemundo where Mirthala Salinas is a suspended reporter.

If you recall the first piece was regarding the Mayor shacking up with Mirthala in her Valley condominium prior to Rosa Park’s funeral. In fact, he stayed so long that he had to fly to the funeral via a private jet paid for by a major campaign contributor and former employer, Ameriquest Corporation. Ana Garcia and KNBC requested the Mayor’s calendar and public papers, including e-mails from his Blackberry during this time.

The conventional wisdom initially (at the time of the first Ana Garcia piece) was that KNBC was overcompensating for the fact that “EVERYONE” at KNBC Channel 4 knew Mirthala Salinas (next door at Telemundo) was having an affair with the Los Angeles Mayor. They ignored the story and looked the other way. Now with the scandal breaking they must appear to be an impartial AND ethical news organization – which everyone knows they are NOT.Flap surmised that would be the last peep out of KNBC television and Ana Garcia until last Friday

So, why the continuing FLAP?

It cannot be the Mayor shopping for shoes with Mirthala or the release of his e-mails.

ERSNews says it is because Ana Garcia was SPURNED by the Mayor?

Professionally spurned or does ERSNews know something that they can only report in code?

Ana Garcia is incensed with regards to Mayor Villaraigosa in some way. Could it be the pursuit of the truth? Is she a friend of or supportive of the Mayor’s wife, Corina? Does she just think the Mayor is a liar and a cheating bastard?

Or is there something else?

Update:

In an email from Eric Longabardi of ERSNews.com he says Garcia has her first piece wrong:

1. The photo of Mirthala Salinas’ condominium is incorrect

2. Mayor Villaraigosa left Los Angeles for Detroit and Rosa Park’s funeral after midnight and NOT 11:20 or 11:30 PM, according to FAA records which are different than the Mayor’s schedule.

Now, Flap has to ask: Why aren’t Garcia and KNBC checking their facts? Is this why they want the Mayor’s records and e-mails? Or is it sloppy on purpose?

Little noticed except among election 2008 compulsives, the California Electoral Reform Initiative is making a big splash in the Christian Science Monitor today.

Soren has more on the North Carolina change in delegate selection process that Flap mentioned here.

Should this initiative qualify, it may well determine whether Hillary or Rudy is the next President.

Anyone want to bet the Democrats drop the effort in North Carolina?

Well, NO, they won’t.

The California Initiative will pass.

In California, the measure’s passage would probably be determined by voter turnout, and that could favor Republicans, experts say.

“The state will have just voted in February, and there is no US Senate race so June turnout will likely be low, which works against the Democrats,” says Quinn. Democrats, who usually argue for more fairness in elections and the end of the electoral college system, are in a quandary over how to fight this, he says.

“The Democrats are being hoisted on their own petards,” says Quinn. “They say, ‘Let’s make elections fairer,’ and Republicans are saying, ‘Okay, let’s do it this way,’ and Democrats are beside themselves because they know what it will likely do.”

But, watch California Attorney General, Jerry Brown and other California pols use the courts to derail the initiative and try to keep it off the June 2008 ballot.

Of course, Jack will test the waters burning Reed Hasting’s money but others also will:

• Phil Angelides – former California Treasurer and Democrat Party Chairman who lost to Arnold Schwarzenegger last year in the general election.
• Gavin Newsom – current Mayor of San Francisco who admits to sleeping with his campaign manager’s wife and carrying on a sordid affair.
• Antonio Villaraigosa – current Mayor of Los Angeles who admits to an affair with Mirthala Salinas, a Telemundo political reporter and who is in the middle of a nasty divorce.
• John Garramendi – current Lt. Governor of California who many Democrat activists describe as yesterday’s news.
• Bill Lockyer – current California Treasurer and former California Attorney General who flirted with the race against the Governator last year but was scared out by Angelides and Westly or was it Arnold’s poll numbers?.

So, who has the campaign resources to compete against high profile Jerry Brown?

And why not? He will be dogged with questions about his affair with Mirthala Salinas until he supplies the records requested by KNBC and comes clean about the long time affair.

Of course, this will affect his divorce case with wife, Corina.

The intent of this piece is found in the last two paragraphs by Dr. Charles Murray, a bought and paid Gates Foundation lackey: “The starting point is the recognition that the U.S. does not have the best health care system. There are still an awful lot of people who think it does.”

Statistics can and do lie and Dr. Murray is entitled to his spin.

But, it is BS to spew these opinions as fact.

But “it’s not as simple as saying we don’t have national health insurance,” said Sam Harper, an epidemiologist at McGill University in Montreal. “It’s not that easy.”

No, it is not that easy and Dr. Murray with a definite financial as well as political bias needs to be called out……….

Is the GOP You Tube Debate being rescheduled?

Mitt Romney is hedging. Who knows about Fred Thompson? Ron Paul wants it? The Mayor and McCain have agreed to participate.

As Flap said BEFORE this format is MORONIC and IRRELEVANT.

The Mayor and GOP should pass.

The debate has been rescheduled for November 28, the Wednesday after Thanksgiving during peak Christmas shopping season. So, why bother?
