Fred Thompson Watch: National Right To Life Committee to Endorse Thompson
Republican presidential hopeful, former Tenn. Sen. Fred Thompson, talks to reporters after speaking to local residents during a stop at the Uncommon Grounds coffee house Monday, Nov. 12, 2007, in Indianola, Iowa
Just when Mitt Romney gains momentum, Fred Thompson will announce soon that the National Right to Life Committee endorses his candidacy for President.
For a candidate who came up empty-handed last week when three prominent Christian conservatives endorsed GOP hopefuls and is falling in both national and early state polls, the move comes at a critical time.
NRLC is the most prominent anti-abortion group in the country, with affiliates in all 50 states and over 3,000 local chapters.
Soren Dayton describes the “JUICE” this brings the Thompson campaign and what a BLOW this is to Mitt-Mentum.
It has been conventional wisdom for a while that Romney and Thompson are fighting over the same voters. You can expect the mailboxes and phones of those voters to light up with detailed explanations of why Mitt Romney is not the right man to be president, or at least our nominee. From a very credible outside group. I have long asked who is actually going to attack Romney. We have our answer. In the end, this will move numbers.
For the anti-Giuliani Evangelical Christian folks this move is NOT good – it will further split and fragment the So-Con RIGHT.
Will this force James Dobson’s hand?
Stay tuned…….

California Republican Assembly Endorses Mitt Romney
Republican presidential hopeful, former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney, tries to get the attention of 3-month old Evelyn Riley, and her mother Mary Riley during a campaign stop in Manchester, N.H., Saturday, Nov. 10, 2007
In a demonstration of Mitt-Mentum, the conservative California Republican Assembly has endorsed Mitt Romney for President.
This is a definite BLOW to Fred Thompson and WILL split the conservative vote in California’s February 5th Super Tuesday primary election.
California’s GOP Presidential allocation of delegates is based on winning each congressional district February 5. Will this endorsement be an opening for Romney who has been polling in third place?
Or will this SPLIT VOTE factor, in fact, “seal the deal” on Rudy winning the majority of California’s delegates?
Stay tuned……

Will Illegal Immigration Be a 2008 Wedge Issue for the GOP?
Graphic Courtesy of the Lone Star Times: A fake Driver’s License?
Let’s see:1. Anchor babies
2. Illegal aliens flooding emergency rooms for “FREE” medical care including the birth of their anchor babies
3. Fraudulent social security cards
4. Fake driver’s licenses and driving with no insurance
5. Mexican gangs, importation of Mexican methamphetamine and criminal activity
To name just a few issues that Mort Kondrake fails to mention.
Flap thinks illegal immigration WILL be a GOP “WEDGE ISSUE” in the 2008 Presidential race.
And the States Kondrake mentions are either RED states like Arizona and Florida or are low electoral vote states like Nevada and New Mexico. Nevada having a large import of non-Hispanic California voters since the last census.
Mort would be better to leave “the Beltway” and travel to the Western United States to understand the impacts. Then, he could return to the Midwest and South to see how illegal aliens are taking entry level jobs from native-born Americans.

The bloom is coming off the rose of Hillary’s campaign. An opening for the GOP?
Hillary Clinton suddenly vulnerable as bruises start to show
Where did Hillary Clinton’s mojo go?
That’s what her campaign has to be asking after a rough two weeks. And more importantly, they have to be wondering how to recapture that fading aura of an unstoppable juggernaut.
Top Clinton strategist Mark Penn doesn’t own up to his candidate suffering a dip, but he admits it’s been tougher of late.
“The opponents went negative, and that created a new dynamic and a different set of headlines,” Penn said.
The new dynamic emerged at the debate in Philadelphia two weeks ago, but didn’t just spring from sharp criticism by her opponents. Clinton stumbled by offering fuzzy answers to some questions and refusing to take a stance on Gov. Spitzer’s license plan for illegal immigrants.
Hillary is wrong on this issue of illegal alien driver’s licenses and the press FINALLY called her on it. Then, she played the gender card.
And, her campaign organization is showing some strain.
It’s been a rough stretch for Hillary Clinton — a tough debate performance, a lost voice, and the revelation that the Clinton campaign had been coaching questioners at events.
Then, on Sunday, everything started falling down around her.
After a very Presidential-esque news conference – Clinton turned around to leave the reporters and their peppering questions. A staffer swooped open a curtain, and chaos ensued. Four large American flags came crashing in front of Senator Clinton as she headed for the door. In a controlled panic, the staffers and the Senator attempted to catch the flags before they fell to the ground.
