Mitt Romney Watch: Latest New Hampshire Ad Attacks Flip-Flop Mitt

New Log Cabin Republicans Radio Ad Highlights Romney’s “Mitt Flops” on Taxes. Radio Ad Targets Governor Romney’s Record Hiking Taxes on New Hampshire Residents.
The script:
ANNCR: Mitt-Flops…sounds like something you’d wear to the beach, but they could cost you.
Let’s see.
Running for governor, Mitt Romney said he’d balance the budget without raising taxes.
So what’d he really do? He raised taxes on some New Hampshire residents who worked in Massachusetts, taxing their income and their pensions. That’s a Mitt-Flop.
Then Romney claimed he was just ‘closing loopholes’. The truth: he raised taxes $128 million.
After that? $70 million more.
A year later? He tried to hike taxes another $170 million. That’s a triple Mitt-Flop.
Romney even refused to support the Bush tax cuts. Now? He’s seen the light on tax cuts. Do you believe this conversion?
Massachusetts Mitt sounds like another flip-flopping politician…
JOHN KERRY [file clip]: “I actually did vote for the 87 billion dollars, before I voted against it.â€
ANNCR: Mitt Romney — just another Massachusetts flip-flopper.
The Log Cabin group had previously aired this television ad on Fox News and in Iowa (where Mitt Romney is currently tied with Mike Huckabee).

This ad highlighted Romney’s flip-flop on abortion and his independence from the era of Reagan-Bush.

Rudy Giuliani California Poll Watch: Rudy Leads Romney by 12 Points
Republican presidential hopeful, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, left, makes a point as Republican presidential hopeful, former Sen. Fred Thompson, R-Tenn., listens, during the CNN/You Tube debate in St. Petersburg, Fla. Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2007.
Mayor Rudy Giuliani continues his commanding lead in Datamar’s latest California poll:
California continues to be kind to Rudy. However, remember that the number of GOP delegates is determined by winning in each Congressional District rather than winner take all which may mean that Giuliani is doing EVEN better, particularly in blue Northern California districts.
The Money Questions:
- With Mike Huckabee now leading in Iowa and Romney leading in New Hampshire will this divide votes such that there will be a delegate slug-out at the GOP Convention in September 2008?
- As candidates withdraw after early states losses (e.g. John McCain and Fred Thompson) where will their voters go?
Other California polls are here.
Stay tuned……..

Rudy Giuliani Watch: “PROMISE” On Air In New Hampshire

Rudy’s third television commercial, “PROMISES†is now “ON AIR†in New Hampshire and the Boston television markets.
The first two television ads introduced voters to Giuliani and now this ad highlights the Mayors success in governing New York City and the issue of reducing taxes.
The Script for the ad:
MAYOR GIULIANI: “When I became Mayor of New York City things were out of control. I lowered taxes. I reduced the growth of government. Made government more accountable. And New York City boomed. I would do these things for America because I know they work. I know that reducing taxes produces more revenues. Democrats don’t know that. They don’t believe it. Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, John Edwards, here’s a promise I assure you they’ll keep. They are making the promise to raise taxes. The only thing I can tell you in addition to that is they’ll raise taxes even more than they promise. I’m Rudy Giuliani and I approve this message.â€

GOP You Tube Presidential Debate Watch: CNN Fails to Vet Clinton Gay Partisan and Others
Matthew Balan over at Newsbusters has all of the details including links.
CNN, as part of its Republican debate with YouTube, failed to mention that retired general Keith Kerr, who announced he was gay after his retirement from the Army, is a member of Hillary Clinton’s “LGBT Americans For Hillary Steering Committee.” Not only did General Kerr ask the question via a YouTube video, but he was also present in the audience, and got to ask the candidates for a “straight answer” (pardon the pun).
General Kerr’s, whose question came 47 minutes into the 9 pm Eastern hour the debate, is also part of the Servicemembers’ Legal Defense Network’s advisory council, an organization “dedicated to ending discrimination against and harassment of military personnel affected by ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ and related forms of intolerance”
Flap warned about this format and why this is NOT Lincoln-Douglas. And, there you go – an exposed set-up by a Hillary Clinton (although they deny it) or Democrat plant.
And Michelle Malkin has MORE – MORE PLANTS that is:
For example, Journey from Arlington, Texas

And, then exposed as a John Edwards supporter post debate:

For EVEN more PLANTS take it over to FREEP.
Last night’s debate was lively but the FLAWS in the format are readily apparent. Flap prefers substantiative debate of issues rather than the gimmicks and sound bites that are dominating the television airwaves.
Can we return to issue-driven debates for the remainder of the race for 2008?
PLEASE………

Bill Clinton Flatly Asserts He Opposed War at Start
During a campaign swing for his wife, former President Bill Clinton said flatly yesterday that he opposed the war in Iraq “from the beginning†— a statement that is more absolute than his comments before the invasion in March 2003.
Before the invasion, Mr. Clinton did not precisely declare that he opposed the war. A week before military action began, however, he did say that he preferred to give weapons inspections more time and that an invasion was not necessary to topple Saddam Hussein.
At the same time, he also spoke supportively about the 2002 Senate resolution that authorized military action against Iraq.
Advisers to Mr. Clinton said yesterday that he did oppose the war, but that it would have been inappropriate at the time for him, a former president, to oppose — in a direct, full-throated manner — the sitting president’s military decision.
More Bill Clinton spin for Hillary – to provide her political cover?
Mr. Obama and Mrs. Clinton are in a tight race to win the Iowa caucuses on Jan. 3, and Mr. Clinton made his remark in Iowa. One rival Democratic campaign circulated Mr. Clinton’s remark to reporters and, without speaking for attribution, accused him of fuzzing the historical record to make the Clintons appear more antiwar than they actually were at the time.
Mrs. Clinton voted in favor of a Senate resolution authorizing military action against Iraq in 2002. She has said she was misled by Mr. Bush.
This is a MAJOR problem with the Clinton’s: A voter can NEVER determine where they stand on an issue because they change with the wind.
