The Byrds–I Feel A Whole Lot Better

All eyes tomorrow will be on Mitt Romney and his Mormon Faith Speech: Faith in America. The direction and even the survivability of Mitt’s campaign will hinge on the speech. It could be the beginning of the end or the beginning of a revival.

Mitt now trails Baptist preacher and politician Mike Huckabee in Iowa and his poll numbers have been falling in other southern states where evangelical Christians make up more of the GOP voter base.

But, Romney is NO JACK KENNEDY.

If Romney missteps he is done.

Rudy Giuliani has lost his front runner status in the Rasmussen Daily Presidential tracking poll to Mike Huckabee but continues to lead the national poll averages and in major delegate-rich large states like California and Florida.

It is conceivable that Giuliani would have to wait until Florida (“RUDY”S FIREWALL”) before registering an election win. He will finish no higher than third in Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina. He may finish second in Michigan and might win in Nevada.

But, this is the best he will be able to do.

However, if Romney collapses tomorrow or in the next week from the Mormon scrutiny and MSM harping masquerading as anti-Mormon bigotry the Mayor MIGHT finish second in New Hampshire and could win Michigan.

South Carolina will be the grand fight between Fred Thompson and Mike Huckabee. And, might be the end of one or both of them.

The Mayor can wait and has the resources to do so. His strategy has been correct.

The race remains fluid and it comes down to College Station, Texas tomorrow to shake up the race.

Now, do you understand the video above?

Patrick Ruffini just e-mailed Flap and said the speech will be carried here live on the internet at 10:30 AM EST or 7:30 AM Pacific time.

Stay tuned……

Rudy is now airing his “PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH” ad in the New Hampshire and Boston television markets.

The Script for the ad:

MAYOR GIULIANI: “I remember back to the 1970s and the early 1980s. Iranian mullahs took American hostages and they held the American hostages for 444 days. And they released the American hostages in one hour, and that should tell us a lot about these Islamic terrorists that we’re facing. The one hour in which they released them was the one hour in which Ronald Reagan was taking the Oath of Office as President of the United States. The best way you deal with dictators, the best way you deal with tyrants and terrorists, you stand up to them. You don’t back down. I’m Rudy Giuliani and I approve this message.”

Frank Luntz of Fox News on the ad:

Luntz says the ad is brilliant and will play well with GOP voters in Iowa and New Hamsphire.

Flap agrees as Rudy implies the “Peace though Strength” of Ronald Reagan will be Rudy’s foreign policy thrust as well.

The facts behind the ad are here.

Stay tuned…..

Mayor Rudy Giuliani greets supporters after speaking at a North Carolina A&T Women for Rudy event at North Carolina A&T University in Greensboro, N.C., Monday, December 3, 2007

Rudy Giuliani continues his double digit lead in California while Senator John McCain has surged past Mitt Romney and Fred Thompson. Mike Huckabee is now tied with Mitt Romney and beats Fred Thompson in a boom.

The Survey USA California Poll:

  • Rudy – 32% (39%, 10-12 thru 10-14)
  • John McCain – 18% (13%)
  • Mitt Romney – 14% (14%)
  • Mike Huckabee – 14% (–)
  • Fred Thompson – 13 (18%)

The PDF poll is here:

There is turbulence: Among Moderates, Giuliani is down 4 points, from 37% to 33%, and McCain is up 7 points, from 17% to 24%, an 11-point narrowing.

Among Conservatives: Huckabee has leapfrogged into 2nd place, at 19%. Among Pro-Life voters, Giuliani is down 7 points month-on month, Huckabee is up 7 points month-on-month, and has leapt into 2nd place, at 20%.

Among voters who think the USA needs a military draft, McCain’s support has doubled since October. Among voters age 50 to 64, 9 points now separates 1st place from 5th place.

The number of Hispanic voters who will vote in the CA GOP primary is a topic of debate among pollsters, and identifying and interviewing these possible Hispanic Republican voters is a challenge. Because of their small numbers, SurveyUSA’s tracking graphs show expected volatility. But all of that taken into account, Huckabee, who tempers his position on immigration, went from 2% among CA GOP Hispanics in November to 20% among CA GOP Hispanics in December.

All December interviews were conducted after the CNN YouTube GOP debate 11/28/07 in which the first 35 minutes was spent on immigration.

Again, California GOP delegates are elected by Congressional District and Giuliani is showing strong support throughout all areas of California. Will Huckabee or McCain who have no campaign organization in California be able to make a move on Rudy?

Doubtful……

Californians will begin voting the first week of January by absentee mail ballot for the February 5th primary election .

Stay tuned…….
