Rudy Giuliani Watch: Rudy Leads Huckabee By 6 Points in Latest ABC/Washington Post National GOP Poll

Rudy Giuliani continues to lead in the latest ABC/Washington Post National GOP poll:

• Rudy – 25% (34%, November)

• Mike Huckabee – 19% (9%)

• Mitt Romney – 17% ( 13%)

• Fred Thompson – 14% (16%)

• John McCain – 12% (17%)

While the Mayor has fallen in this poll over the past month, he continues to draw strength from a plurality of GOP voters. Now, with less than 30 days to go before the first caucus in Iowa, it remains to be seen if Rudy can continue his national GOP poll lead, withstand some “early state” losses and sweep to victory on Super Duper Tuesday when big states vote.

Also, let’s look at the top two election issues:

• Economy – 44% (29%, November)

• Iraq – 37% (45%)

• Health Care – 22% (27%)

• Terrorism – 15% (9%)

• Immigration – 10% (8%)

Interesting that the Iraq War is now fading as the major issue of the campaign season. Will the terrorism issue drive voters to Giuliani’s message strength?
