New Item: Iran Threatens to Eliminate Israel

Iran will eliminate Israel if it attacks the Islamic Republic, Iran’s deputy army chief warned Tuesday in words conjuring up Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s threats to wipe Israel off the map.

“Should Israel take any action against Iran, we will eliminate Israel from the scene of the universe,” Gen. Muhammad Reza Ashtiani said in Teheran on Tuesday.

Ashtiani’s statement followed Infrastructure Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer’s comment last week warning Iran that any attack on Israel would result in the “destruction of the Iranian nation.”

Ashtiani claimed Israel was “very vulnerable” and dismissed allegations that Iran was worried about Israeli maneuvers.

And, let’s see Iran President Ahmadinejad says Britain, Israel and the United States are to disappear as the Pharaohs. Yet, the United Nations writes meaningless sanction resolutions and the uranium enrichment centrifuges continually spin at Natanz.

One of these days, someone in the world will take Iranian threats seriously.

2008041512161208041520mlo0 Michelle Obama Maybe I Am Out of Touch

Michelle Obama spoke to supporters of her husband, Barack Obama, at the Strand-Capitol Performing Arts Center in York Tuesday April 15, 2008.

Yeah, YOU are.

Michelle Obama pushed back against the notion that her husband is elite and out of touch while campaigning in Haverford, PA today. The potential First Lady ignored any reference to the more controversial portion of Sen. Obama’s remarks about people in small towns clinging to religion, guns, or anti-immigrant sentiment as an outlet from their economic frustration.

Before listing a litany of economic burdens on middle class voters — mortgage payment, rent, car note, gas, groceries — Mrs. Obama sarcastically told the sizeable crowd at Haverford College, “Maybe I’m missing something. Maybe I’m out of touch.” She then administered a pregnant pause for effect.

Attempting to further demonstrate her husband’s regular guy credentials, Mrs. Obama told the college student crowd that the Obamas have just paid off their student loans a few years ago. “Now when is the last time you’ve seen a president of the United States who just paid off his loan debt? But, then again, maybe I’m out of touch,” she repeated.

Now, Michelle doesn’t get it either.

A comment about Obama’s student loans – PLEASE………

What no “false consciousness?”

Barack Obama Laughs Off “BITTER BATTLE” as Political Silly Season

capt61c3c0aab59f462dac2rf7 Barack Obama Laughs Off BITTER BATTLE as Political Silly Season

Democratic presidential hopeful, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., speaks at a town hall-style meeting with veterans at Washington Jefferson College in Washington, Pa., on Tuesday, April 15, 2008.

In another day of the “BITTER BATTLE” of words, Barack Obama laughs off the flap as political silly season.

“It is true,” Obama added, “I am amused about this notion of eltitist,” given that he was raised by a single mother who for a time relied on food stamps and married a woman of humble means as well. “We both had to finance our entire law school educations borrowing money, and we paid off our student loans about five years ago, six years ago…

“We lived for the first 13 years in our marriage, up until three years ago, in a one-bedroom condo without a garage,” Obama said, “which means, if you live in Chicago, you are scraping ice from your windshield” in the morning.

“That’s when you know we’re in political silly season.’’

Barack Obama Quote:

You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, and like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing’s replaced them. And they fell through the Clinton administration, and the Bush administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. So it’s not surprising then that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.

Obama doesn’t GET IT.

Obama does NOT realize that he is a candidate on a HIGH HORSE, now does he?

2416572052 fc53f9557a o John McCain Watch: McCain Proposes Summer Break in Gas Tax

John McCain is out in front on this issue.

John McCain called Tuesday for the federal government to free people from paying gasoline taxes this summer and ensure that college students can secure loans this fall, proposals aimed at stemming the public’s pain now from the troubled economy.

In the longer-term, the certain Republican presidential nominee said he would double the tax exemption for dependent children and offer people the option of choosing a simpler tax system.

“We know from experience that no serious reform of the current tax code will come out of Congress, so now it is time to turn the decision over to the people,” McCain said in a sweeping economic speech at Carnegie Mellon University a week before Pennsylvania’s primaries.

To help people weather the downturn immediately, McCain urged Congress to institute a “gas-tax holiday” by suspending the 18.4 cent federal gas tax and 24.4 cent diesel tax from Memorial Day to Labor Day. He also renewed his call for the United States to stop adding to the Strategic Petroleum Reserve and thus lessen to some extent the worldwide demand for oil.

The economy is in recession and needs a bump.

The simpler tax system idea is from the Giuliani campaign. Remember?

But, while Hillary and Obama are duking it out over the “BITTER BATTLE”, McCain proposes a real world solution.

Arrogant, elitist politicians come in all parties and political persuasions. Trent Lott is one of the reasons the GOP lost its majorities in Congress.
