The McCain Campaign fires back at Team Obama after Senator McCain calls on Senator Obama to repudiate and apologize about his association with Weather Underground bomber William Ayers.

McCain spokesman Brian Rogers:

“Senator Obama’s political career was reportedly launched at the home of an unrepentant terrorist, William Ayers, with whom he has had a friendship for many years. Mr. Ayers was a leader of the Weather Underground, a terrorist group responsible for countless bombings against targets including the U.S. Capitol, the Pentagon and numerous police stations, courthouses and banks. In recent years, Mr. Ayers has stated, ‘I don’t regret setting bombs . I feel we didn’t do enough.’ Then last week, Senator Obama went so far as to compare this unrepentant terrorist to Senator Tom Coburn, a physician who goes home to Oklahoma on the weekends and brings babies into life.

“Surely the American people agree that judgment matters in our next president. Senator Obama’s long association with an unrepentant terrorist is an issue of judgment, and it will absolutely be an issue in this election.”

An issue of judgment, eh?

Are the gloves off?

Or is McCain smarting from GOP criticism over his handling of the North Carolina GOP – Jeremiah Wright ad flap?

Let’s hope the former……

2441171585 01cd8342e2 o Hillary Clinton Watch: Totally Obliterating Credibility

Michael Ramirez on Hillary Clinton “Totally Obliterating Iran”

News Item: Clinton says U.S. could “totally obliterate” Iran

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton warned Tehran on Tuesday that if she were president, the United States could “totally obliterate” Iran in retaliation for a nuclear strike against Israel.

On the day of a crucial vote in her nomination battle against fellow Democrat Barack Obama, the New York senator said she wanted to make clear to Tehran what she was prepared to do as president in hopes that this warning would deter any Iranian nuclear attack against the Jewish state.

“I want the Iranians to know that if I’m the president, we will attack Iran (if it attacks Israel),” Clinton said in an interview on ABC’s “Good Morning America.”

“In the next 10 years, during which they might foolishly consider launching an attack on Israel, we would be able to totally obliterate them,” she said.

“That’s a terrible thing to say but those people who run Iran need to understand that because that perhaps will deter them from doing something that would be reckless, foolish and tragic,” Clinton said.

Hillary was and is pandering to Jewish voters in Pennyslvania, Florida and New York. Who is she trying to kid?

HRC has no credibility on the right and the left thinks she is a sabre-rattler and warmonger.

2441886474 3b1fcf3a01 o Team Obama Pushes Back at McCains Call for Ayers Apology

Team Obama has pushed back after John McCain during a Blogger’s Conference call called on Obama to apologize for his association and comment comparing Weather Underground bomber William “Billy” Ayers and Senator Tom Coburn.

First, McCain’s statement:

  • “I think not only a repudiation, but an apology for ever having anything to do with an unrepentant terrorist is due the American people….”
  • “I’m a bit surprised there hasn’t been more discussion about the comparison Sen. Obama made about an unrepentant terrorist, and that’s what Mr. Ayers is, and a great American citizen who goes back to Oklahoma on the weekends to deliver babies,” McCain said. “I’m offended by a comparison to a man like Tom Coburn.”
  • While “Tom Coburn may be many things to people who are on the liberal side of the ledger,” McCain said, he isn’t the same as somebody who an unrepentant member of an organization that was responsible for bombings and killings.

Now, Team Obama’s push back:

  • Spokesman Hari Sevugan: “We want to take Senator McCain at his word that he wants to run a respectful campaign, but that is becoming increasingly difficult when he continually tries to use the politics of association and makes claims he knows not to be true to advance his campaign.”

The Barack Obama campaign has reacted to EVERY criticism with “Everything That Hurts Us Is a Distraction.” Now, when John McCain suggests that Obama should repudiate an “unrepentant” terrorist, it is McCain that is running a disrespectul campaign.

BS…….

captbcd944980835431792axz6 John McCain Watch: The McCain Blogger Conference Call

Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., and his wife Cindy, greet supporters prior to boarding the campaign charter airplane, Friday, April 25, 2008, in Baton Rouge, La.

Captain Ed and Jim Geraghty have the poop on the call. There was not much new or earth-shattering in the ensuing discussion – Q and A.

Of interesting note: Flap (A Giuliani supporter/blogger), Sean Hackbarth (A Fred Thompson supporter/blogger) and Hugh Hewitt (A Romney supporter/blogger) were in attendance. Can’t say that Team McCain is NOT reaching out to the entire spectrum of the GOP.

Senator McCain is now off to Arkansas to campaign with Mike Huckabee.

0 John McCain Watch: North Carolina GOP Out of Touch with Reality Over Jeremiah Wright Ad

This ad entitled “Extreme” released by the North Carolina Republican Party opposes Bev Perdue and Richard Moore for Governor.

The North Carolina Republican Pary will NOT be pulling the “Extreme” video ad above (featuring Barack Obama’s preacher Jeremiah Wright) despite protestations from Senator John McCain and the Republican National Committee.

In fact, the North Carolina GOP has placed the ad on their web site and is fundraising for its distirbution over the North Carolina airwaves.

2441060852 4e318962b3 o John McCain Watch: North Carolina GOP Out of Touch with Reality Over Jeremiah Wright Ad

In the meantime, Senator John McCain and presumptive GOP Presidential nominee has started calling his own party in North Carolina names.

Republican U.S. presidential candidate John McCain accused North Carolina’s Republican Party of being “out of touch with reality” over its refusal to pull an advertisement criticizing Democrat Barack Obama.

In an NBC interview aired on Friday, the Arizona senator said he has done all he can to persuade the state party to cancel the television ad that criticizes Obama as “too extreme” because of controversial remarks made by his former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

“They’re not listening to me because they’re out of touch with reality and the Republican Party. We are the party of Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt and Ronald Reagan and this kind of campaigning is unacceptable,” McCain told NBC’s “Today” Show.

“I’ve done everything that I can to repudiate and to see that this kind of campaigning does not continue,” he added.

Watch the ad. Is there anything denigrating or untruthful about it?

The North Carolina GOP is RIGHT and Senator MCCain is simply WRONG on this issue. And, remember the 11th commandment, Senator.

Flap will be participating in the Team McCain blogger conference call scheduled in a few minutes and will update this post if there is related discussion.

Update:

After participating in the McCain blogger call, Flap’s impression of Senator McCain’s statement towards the North Carolina GOP can be best be found here and here.
