Barack Obama Watch: Early Indiana Vote Heavy in Obama Favored Counties
US Democratic presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama (D-IL) greets supporters during a campaign stop in Charlotte, North Carolina May 2, 2008.
Is heavy Indiana early voting in Obama favored counties an OMEN?
Early voting in Indiana could offer some encouragement to presidential hopeful Barack Obama, who needs a victory in its upcoming primary after a tough few weeks on the campaign trail.
Obama victories in the Indiana and North Carolina primaries on May 6 could help him regain momentum in his nomination fight against Hillary Rodham Clinton. Obama has been on the defensive because of comments by his former pastor, Jeremiah Wright, and his own comments about people in small towns growing bitter.
About 20 percent of the 127,000-plus absentee ballots received as of early Friday were cast in three Indiana counties – Marion, Monroe and Lake – that political observers believe Obama is strongly favored to win.
Lake County has a large population of black voters and is in Chicago’s shadow. Obama has typically won big among college-age voters, and Monroe County is the home of Indiana University in Bloomington. Obama’s campaign sought out IU students with voter registration and early voting drives and a free Dave Matthews concert.
If Obama shocks Hillary in Indiana the race for the Democrat nomination is over. However, should Hillary win by more than five points then she will stay in the race until the convention in August – no matter what happens in the later primary elections.
And, why not? She could either win or batter Obama sufficiently to help McCain win his one and only term. Hillary will then be the Democrat heir-apparent in 2012.
Remember iNDIANA Operation Chaos cross-voters: VOTE FOR HILLARY CLINTON.

GOP Using Obama to Win Congressional Seats

Fox News profiled the upcoming special election in MS-01 in which Democrat Travis Childers tries to deny being endorsed by ultra-liberal Barack Obama after receiving his endorsement and receiving support from Obama supporters. The segment shows just how volatile Barack Obama will be in numerous districts nationwide.
Of course, the GOP is going to use the Jeremiah Wright – Barack Obama flap for partisan advantage and why not?
Turns out Louisiana and Mississippi weren’t quite finished with the Democratic presidential campaign.
Sen. Barack Obama won each state’s primary earlier this year. But these days his face still appears in television ads in both states, this time from Republicans trying to turn him into a liability for Democrats in two looming special elections for long-held Republican seats.
Democratic victories would be a serious setback for Republicans. But it also would go a long way to reassure nervous Democrats, particularly undecided superdelegates, that Obama would not present a hardship to House or Senate candidates running in tough races.
It will be difficult to extrapolate Congressional victories on whether Obama or Hillary would fare better against McCain in the Fall because of the local nature of Congressional race politics. But, whoever wins will claim the mantle with Superdelegates – provided Hilary can win Indiana on Tuesday, May 6th.
But, the GOP running ads against down-ticket office holders this early is unique. But, they are special elections……and the Louisiana seat has been in GOP hands for 32 years.
Here is an ad from Louisiana – the election is tomorrow:

Flap @ California Dental Association Meeting May 2, 2008
Paul Feurstein, DMD – New Technology for the Dental Practice: http://www.computersindentistry.com
Flap arrived in Anaheim after an easy 90 minute drive but the parking was slamming – as usual. At 8 in the morning the main parking lot adjacent to the Convention Center was filled and I was directed to the auxiliary lot behind some of the Exhibit Halls.
Note all of the dentists waiting for the tram and the massive containers filled with dental equipment. Flap did not wait for the tram
And, here was the longest line of the morning:
