News Item: Alaska to sue to block polar bear listing
The state of Alaska will sue the U.S. government to stop the listing of the polar bear as a threatened species, arguing the designation will slow development in the state, Gov. Sarah Palin said on Wednesday.
Palin said the state will file a lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Washington challenging U.S. Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne’s decision to grant Endangered Species Act protections to the polar bear.
The Republican governor has argued that the ice-dependent polar bear, the first mammal granted Endangered Species Act listing because of global warming, does not need additional protections.
“We believe that the listing was unwarranted and that it’s unprecedented to list a currently healthy population based on uncertain climate models,” said Alaska Assistant Attorney General Steven Daugherty.
John McCain could make a statement to his conservative GOP base by selecting Sarah Palin as his vice Presidential choice.
Senator, forget about Romney, Crist or Jindal and invite Palin down for a visit.

Here here, though she probably won’t get the nod (just had her 5th kid) Palin would make a wonderful addition to McCain’s ticket. Something fresh and new.

“Ever the populist, Palin has asked the legislature to pass a bill that would give every resident $1,200 to help pay for gasoline. This proposal isn’t a slam-dunk either, but no doubt Hugo Chavez would be proud.”

I’m absolutely proud of Srah Palin! It makes me proud of being a woman! The maturity and fortitude with which she has endured the great family challenges are extraordinary! Normally anyone would have collapsed with one of the ones gone through this year (down child and pregnant teen).
This woman has held her family together and has proven to be a polar bear in her job as agovernor.
WOW! Talk about balancing carreer and family!
It talks loud about what real WOMAN POWER means.
