Sarah Palin Watch: Drill at ANWR

sarahpalinjune23a

During “Citizen Weeds Warrior Kickoff,” Governor Palin signs HB 330 “Noxious Weeds & Invasive Plants” at Russian Jack Park in Anchorage, Alaska on June 17, 2008 while flanked by (back left) Rep. Craig Johnson and members of Civilians Against Noxious Weeds Invading the North (CANWIN).

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has sent a letter to Congress asking them to open a small portion of the Arctic National Wildlife Reserve (ANWR) to oil and gas development.

In a letter addressed to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and key members of Congress, Governor Palin stressed the need to enact an energy policy that includes oil and gas production from domestic sources, since failure to enact a sound energy policy is having real-life consequences. The Governor reminded members of Congress that the footprint of development would be less than 2,000 acres. She also assured members that any development would be conducted in a responsible and environmentally safe manner.

The letter is here.

Damn, a conservative GOP leader who understands that oil and gas must be produced domestically to reduce our dependence on foreign sources.

John McCain are you listening?

A Vice President Sarah Palin would put your administration more in line with the Congressional GOP on oil exploration. How about modifying your stance on ANWR and then choose Palin as your VP?

It would be a winning ticket.

Mac Pick Palin Veep BEFORE Hil Campaigns w/Obama!

In addition to her overwhelming attraction on the oil/energy issue and the female/disaffected Hillary voters, her human interest story will generate millions and millions of dollars worth of publicity and media coverage — essentially free to the McCain campaign — more than offsetting Obama’s reported money advantage.

There is not way that anyone needs to continue to drill oil. It’s just stupid that politicians think the only way to reduce gas prices is to drill in Alaska. A much easier way to reduce gas prices is to stop using gasoline and switch to more efficient sources like hydrogen, wind and solar energy.

The last time I checked automobiles ran on gasoline NOT by placing a sail on the roof of the car.

There has to be a balanced program to produce environmentally safe and independently produced fuel for America’s energy needs. Drilling more oil domestically is one of many solutions – but a viable one.

To say cut back and rely on alternative fuels has been tried for the past 20 years and failed.

reply to “Pays to live green”: Do you know of many cars or car manunfactures that are run from wind. I do see the reports of working with solar but what impact can that be made on the billions of cars out there now? The key word is “now”. I agree that working towards alternate fuels is a must but that is decades away from happening. We must take baby steps sometimes.
