Governor Palin visits with the Joy Greisen JEC Preschool and Camp at the Congregation Beth Sholom synagogue in Anchorage after signing HB 88 “TVs & Monitors in Motor Vehicles” on June 16, 2008

William Kristol, the founder and editor of the conservative weekly political magazine, The Weekly Standard on Fox News this afternoon raised the prospect of a Sarah Palin nomination as a Vice Presidential running mate for Senator John McCain.

Kristol first raised the prospect of Sarah Palin on Fox News Sunday.

Is this the reason why there was a Mitt Romney for Vice President story in Politico today?

Yep, they are fighting to be named the GOP running mate.

The tip-off that Politico is just a “promote Romney” piece is that it mentions EVERY NAME in the next two tiers of Veep prospects EXCEPT SARAH PALIN!!! — even names far more unlikely than Palin (since Romney camp knows Palin is the ONLY ONE who tops — I’ll say tops by far — Romney as McCain’s best pick).

Bottom line, Romney and Politico fear Palin most — as do the Dems and the MSM. (By the way, the Dems and MSM do not fear Romney the most — which says a lot.)

  2. Flap says:

Romney is too much of a flip flopper but can raise the $$$$.

McCain needs to shake up the campaign with a young vibrant reformer = Sarah Palin.

  3. Tom says:

Palin will raise SO MUCH more money than Romney. She’ll trigger a massive influx of internet funding from little guys like me just like what Obama did. The question is whether McCain’s campaign will have the infrastructure in place to collect it and get it put to good use quickly.

Romney is a nice guy, but if McCain picks him, they lose. Picking Palin will be magic with low to middle income Americans and all but the most hard-core pro-choice feminists. She would be his best chance to help take down Goliath.

  4. mragrotime says:

Perhaps Palin is the correct answer if its all about money, its hard to say. Having a woman on his side may help his image as most women appear to be leaning towards Obama.

Palin a better VP than Romney? Maybe. Not a better president, but VP, maybe. She has children at home, including a special needs newborn. They would pretty much go without a mother for a four year term….I’m traditional that way having children of my own. She would certainly have to weigh the pros and cons of that one. I doubt Romney fears Palin, that’s really cute. I fear someone of lesser abilities than Romney. Romney has the skill set, would be able to right the economy and promote family values. Maybe even talk sense to McCain on the global warming tripe. Palin would have to convince she really, really, WEALLY wants it and the public would have to get to know her. Who knows. I probably would not vote for a McCain/Palin ticket. Not because of Palin, she just doesn’t add a whole buncha lift to an already sinking McCain ticket.

  8. Ted says:

It appears that it’s all down to Palin or Romney, and team Romney fears Palin now has the best shot, so Romney camp has mounted a blogosphere-wide assault via Politico.

  9. Flap says:

Yes and it is going hot and heavy at Race42008 as well. Alot of Romney supporters there.

  10. Tom says:

    Liz,

Palin would be way better than Romney on economic issues because the heart of our problems are with energy and she has more experience than Romney. Also, if you think having children at home has slowed down Sarah Palin, you obviously don’t know the woman. Her downs syndrome baby Trig will be the First Baby and will charm the country. Did you see her sign that legislation with little Trig slung in her arms? MAGIC! It reminded me of the lovable female state trooper in the movie “Fargo”, also like a strong Indian woman who carries her baby while working very hard.

Romney promoting family values more than Sarah? Nope. Son in military, new baby Trig with Downs Syndrome which proves Sarah is the real one with family values because she is pro-life and WALKED the WALK. Romney said he is pro-life only to get votes, not because he holds it in his heart. If he did, he NEVER could have been governor of MA, NEVER. He is a politician who is ALREADY beyond the point where he has sold his sole to a certain extent.

And YES, Palin obviously wants it BAD! To say Palin would not generate excitement is what Hillary’s camp was saying about Obama, and look where that got them.

I would not be counting on Palin right now. She is in the midst of a scandal back home in Alaska that threatens to make Nixon look like Mother Theresa. Sarah Palin is damaged goods. Sell now! Buy stock in Romney today!

  13. Sherry says:

Well, it is Palin! What a great choice, now this is race! I am really excited about politics for once. This was really a smart choice and puts a whole new spin on the election…..I am voting for the McCain/Palin ticket.

  14. Jill Brown says:

We need people in the White House with strong decision making skills. Sarah Palin had amniocentesis at week 13 of her pregnancy to determine whether her child had genetic abnormalities in spite of the fact that she would not have an abortion. Amniocentesis has a 1:200 chance of damaging the fetus. So this wise woman decided to risk harming the fetus for her own knowledge? That was a poor decision about one of the most important events in her pregnancy, and to me does not show strong judgement.

  15. Flap says:

    Jill,

Obviously you know little about amniocentesis or having children over the age of 40.

Want to bet it was the doctor’s recommendation?

  16. John says:

Excellent point, Jill, but let’s take that thought to it’s logical conclusion. The fact is, there’s not much reason to have the amniocentesis unless you think you have a “choice” to make. Sorry Flap, I’m a doctor and I can guarantee that her OB/GYN would only present the test as an option (as with all treatment/tests, the decision would be solely the patient’s) and would be very clear about what the limited options are if the test came back positive. I think the implication is pretty obvious….despite her rigid anti-abortion stance, the thought must have crossed Gov. Palin’s mind. That may also explain why she kept the pregnancy secret for quite some time.

  17. Anonymous says:

Sometime the amniocentesis is done for a woman over 40 so that the Doctors can better prepare immediate medical needs for a child born with known special needs. You all seem so quick too find wrong in this lady. For ones who believe in choice , you condemn this woman for a choice that my very well have saved her unborn. Oh yea of little fath! Dr. Phill
