Colin Powell to Endorse Barack Obama in Denver?
+++++Update+++++
A Powell spokeswoman now denies report
Former Secretary of State Colin Powell and President Bush
Per William Kristol on Fox News, Colin Powell will be endorsing Barack Obama for President at the Denver Democrat convention and will speak Wednesday night. Hillary Clinton and keynoter Mark Warner will speak Tuesday night.
It has been rumored for some time that the “disgruntled” not-reappointed former George W. Bush Secretary of State would try to stab the GOP in the back.
What will the impact be?
Minimal.
The Left will ONLY barely tolerate Powell and another former General, Wesley Clark, has already made an ass of himself for Obama.
Flap won’t mention the racial aspect in this endorsement.

Wow!! I am surprised, if true.
Flap
Actually, I am not surprised at all. Powell was disrespected by Bush by not reappointing him as Secretary of State.
You know the sour grapes stuff.

I have seen recent McCain press conferences where he comments on the situation with Russia. He looks very old and something less than impressive.
I keep thinking how in the world McCain became the Republican nominee. I think Rudy gave it to him with a poorly run campaign. Too bad.
Flap
Rudy ran a poor campaign and in the end did not want the job badly enough.
If he had come out early and confronted his personal demons then he could have buried McCain. Same for Newt Gingrich.
I think Obama is such a rookie that the race remains close despite McCain’s age – as long as he doesn’t choose Romney!

Flap,
Your last comment is right on. Well stated.

Not surprised by this. Powell needs to ‘redeem’ himself, and Obama will definitely want help from such a prominent Republican. This could be countered if Secretary Rice campaigned for McCain, but that doesn’t sound likely…
Flap
I bet this was re-leaked to blunt any shock value of the Powell endorsement. Joe Lieberman’s speech at the GOP convention will hold more weight in critical battleground states like Florida.
Colin Powell has been a disappointment.
