Matt Drudge has the Nielsen figures.
37,244,000 watched the Sarah Palin speech last night and Fox News reports that 19.5 million of that number were women.
As a contrast: 38,379,000 folks watched Barack Obama the previous week.
Update:
And, Obama was covered on 10 television networks and Sarah Palin ONLY on 6.
The Sarah Palin speech generated 37.2 million viewers, just 1.1 million viewers short of Barack Obama’s record-breaking speech on Day 4 of the Democratic Convention. The Palin speech was carried on only six networks while the Obama speech was carried on ten (including BET, TV One, Univision and Telemundo).

David Axelrod takes a shot at Sarah Palin:
On his response to the criticism:
–â€I think Sen. Obama is taking the whole thing in stride. To be very honest with you I don’t think he expected gingerly treatment… This is what politicians do when they don’t have a record to run on.â€
But, what about Barack Obama’s record?

Republican vice presidential candidate Alaska Governor Sarah Palin blows a kiss in the direction of her family after walking to the podium on stage to address the 2008 Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minnesota, September 3, 2008
Palin Derangement Syndrome was clearly evident on television last night.
But later in the evening on Larry King, the snide brigade came out. Ed Schultz, who called Palin a bimbo, said, “So she can read a teleprompter. Big deal.â€
Jamal Simmons began by saying “it was a pretty good speech,†but later added, “She read it well off the teleprompter. They wrote a good speech for her.â€
But, apparently she can improvise and deliver an electrifying speech without the teleprompter.
Palin Derangement Syndrome from the LEFT all of the time.

Barack Obama: “And so I’m grateful to call him a friend and a colleague. And I’m looking forward to a lengthy collaboration in terms of making sure that Detroit does well in the future.”
News Item: Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick Resigns in Plea Deal
Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick pleaded guilty to two counts of obstruction of justice and will step down as the mayor of the nation’s 11th-largest city as part of a deal in a sex-and-misconduct scandal that has plagued the Motor City for months.
Kilpatrick also pleaded no contest to assaulting or obstructing a public officer as part of the plea agreement.
He’ll serve two concurrent 4-month jail sentences and pay the city $1 million over a five-year probationary period.
But, wait. Barack Obama has now changed his tune with regards to the convicted Detroit Mayor.
Late Wednesday, Obama’s camp issued a statement saying that Kilpatrick is hurting the city by staying in office. The campaign made the statement in response to a Free Press inquiry regarding Wednesday’s developments in the text message scandal.
“Sen. Obama believes that Mayor Kilpatrick’s ongoing troubles and the serious charges against him have been a distraction that the city cannot afford,” said Obama spokesman Brent Colburn.
“He believes it is time for the mayor to step aside so that the city can move forward and get back to business.”
Wow! Obama made it just in time for the plea deal. Fancy that.
Another example of poor judgment by Barack Obama. Do Americans really want a Chicago politician as President?

Republican vice presidential candidate Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin reacts as she arrives to speak at the 2008 Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minnesota September 3, 2008
Palin Derangement Syndrome has spread to her hair ( via MM).
Yes, Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin has a lot on her plate: a pregnant teen daughter, a son on his way to Iraq, an infant with Down syndrome and a looming national election.
But must her hair suffer? With her long, straight, often pinned-up locks, Palin looks one humid day away from fronting a Kiss cover band.
“It’s about 20 years out of date,†said Boston stylist Mario Russo of the Alaska governor’s ’do. “Which goes to show how off she might be on current events.â€
Wow. The snobs of the hair world have spoken.

Democratic vice presidential candidate Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., left, chats with Annalou Trebitz, 87, of Deerfield Beach, Fla., after a town hall meeting Tuesday, Sep. 2, 2008 at Century Village in Deerfield Beach
Joe Biden on offshore oil drilling yesterday: I’m against it.” Why, of course, he was in Florida where it is unpopular.
But, on Labor Day just a few days ago, Biden said something different: “I’m not opposed to drilling…”
Offshore oil drilling is popular in most areas of the country and the Democrats historically opposed to it have recently modified their story to include it in some sort of comprehensive energy plan. But, have they REALLY changed their tune?
Look for Alaska Governor Sarah Palin to take this issue directly to Obama and Biden.
