Heart and Sarah Palin

Anne (L) and Nancy Wilson of Heart perform at the ‘Idol Gives Back’ show at the Kodak theatre in Hollywood, California April 6, 2008. The rock group Heart, angry that its 70’s hit ‘Barracuda’ is being used as the unofficial theme song for Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin, is biting back at the Alaska governor.

Remember the Flap and the rock group Heart being all PDS (Palin Derangement Syndrome) and asking that the Republican dynamic duo “cease and desist” from using their song?

Well, Team Mc-Cain-Palin continues to use the song.

The rock band “Heart” may have asked John McCain and Sarah Palin stop playing their song “Barracuda” at their rallies, but the campaign is apparently paying no heed.

The track — played at the Republican National Convention in honor of the Vice Presidential nominee, who earned the nickname “Sarah Barracuda” playing high school basketball in Alaska — was pumped through the streets of Lebanon, Ohio on Tuesday morning at an outdoor rally before the GOP ticket showed up.

And, why?

You see, organizations don’t have to go directly to the copyright holder to get permission to use their work. They can get a license from ASCAP, the American Society for Composers, Authors and Publishers. (Someone should tell the London Guardian editorial writers this inconvenient truth.)

According to The London Telegraph (and the Guardian), that’s exactly what the the Republican National Convention did. A spokesman says that the RNC “paid for and obtained all necessary licenses” from ASCAP for all the music used at the event.

Assuming that the RNC did indeed get an ASCAP license (and why wouldn’t they?), then they could legally use the song, assuming it’s in the ASCAP database. (It is.)

william ayers comic strip

Friend of Barack Obama and former member of the Weather Underground William Ayers reassures American Voters about his violent past.

“The war in Vietnam was not only illegal, it was profoundly immoral, millions of people were needlessly killed. Even though I worked hard to end the war, I feel to this day that I didn’t do enough because the war dragged on for years after the majority of the American people came to oppose it. I don’t think violent resistance is necessarily the answer, but I do think opposition and refusal is imperative.”

The controlling word is NECESSARILY.

What reassurance……

sarahpalin-and-sexism

Womencount.org

The reports have been that Barack Obama wanted to enlist Hillary Clinton to combat the Sarah Palin “bounce” in the polls. But, this has been unrealized.

Former Clinton adviser Howard Wolfson is dismissing any notion the Obama campaign would dispatch Clinton to take on Palin, as much as he thinks some people would revel in seeing the two strong women butt heads.

“Don’t hold your breath,” he wrote in his New Republic blog. “Clinton-Palin might drive ratings and sell magazines, but it wouldn’t be good for the Democratic Party, or the cause of women’s rights. Some might enjoy the spectacle, but don’t expect Hillary Clinton to play along.”

Now, Hillary backers are speaking out for Alaska Governor and GOP Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin.

The leaders of a women’s political organization that launched earlier this year to support Hillary Clinton are speaking out against what they say are examples of media sexism toward Sarah Palin and urging members to tell the press corps “to back off.”

WomenCount, a group co-founded by top Hillary fundraiser Susie Tompkins Buell, posted a lengthy item on their blog decrying questions over whether Palin can, as a mother of five, juggle her family responsibilities and still be vice president.

“The very notion that Sarah Palin should not have accepted this nomination because she is a mother with demanding challenges underscores just how far we have to go,” wrote Rosemary Camposano, the group’s communications director.

She added: “It will be good for America to watch Sarah Palin on the campaign trail – bouncing from parenting to politics. That’s how most women function – multi-tasking, leaning on friends and family, and waking up each morning and doing it all again.”

The Clinton Cabal are alive and well undermining the Obama campaign. Look for a Bill or Hillary gaffe who will further hurt Team Obama and the Democrats who showed them no love during the primary campaign.

RNCWomancrying

A delegate cries while listening to Senator John McCain (R-AZ) during McCain’s acceptance speech at the 2008 Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minnesota, September 4, 2008

The latest Washington Post/ABC News poll shows that John McCain has gained huge support among white women since Sarah Palin was named as his Vice Presidential running mate.

Why do you think the Democrats and Team Obama have been so desperate to smear her?

Guess the market has recognized her importance to the GOP:

SarahPalinandMccainsept92008

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and Senator John McCain yesterday in Kansas City, Missouri

Flap had Charlie Martin’s list of debunking Sarah Palin rumors and falsehoods yesterday. His website is back up and can be seen here. The summary from Pajamas Media is here.

Now, FactCheck.org has taken on the sliming of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.

We’ve been flooded for the past few days with queries about dubious Internet postings and mass e-mail messages making claims about McCain’s running mate, Gov. Palin. We find that many are completely false, or misleading.

  • Palin did not cut funding for special needs education in Alaska by 62 percent. She didn’t cut it at all. In fact, she tripled per-pupil funding over just three years.
  • She did not demand that books be banned from the Wasilla library. Some of the books on a widely circulated list were not even in print at the time. The librarian has said Palin asked a “What if?” question, but the librarian continued in her job through most of Palin’s first term.
  • She was never a member of the Alaskan Independence Party, a group that wants Alaskans to vote on whether they wish to secede from the United States. She’s been registered as a Republican since May 1982.

  • Palin never endorsed or supported Pat Buchanan for president. She once wore a Buchanan button as a “courtesty” when he visited Wasilla, but shortly afterward she was appointed to co-chair of the campaign of Steve Forbes in the state.
  • Palin has not pushed for teaching creationism in Alaska’s schools. She has said that students should be allowed to “debate both sides” of the evolution question, but she also said creationism “doesn’t have to be part of the curriculum.”

A few of these claims were included in a chain e-mail by a woman named Anne Kilkenny.

Flap heard on morning news reports that the latest Team Obama ads are backing away from Palin attacks because of the backlash. So, the newly empowered left wing 527 independent campaigns will undoubtedly carry out the work of sliming and smearing Sarah Palin.

Stay tuned because there will be much more coming as desperation spreads throughout the Democrat Party.

Day By Day 090908

Day By Day by Chris Muir

The MSM, especially including the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, NBC News, MSNBC are all desperate to sink the McCain-Palin ticket.

Flap cannot believe the vitriolic treatment from MSNBC and its demoted political commentators Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann, plus failed Air America comedian Rachel Maddow. Last night on the Olbermann show there was a systematic denigration of the Assembly of God faith and its ties to Sarah Palin. If this treatment had been against Jews, Scientologists or Muslims there would be outrage on all of the morning news shows.

But what do you hear?

Crickets……

With the GOP lead in the polls watch for more intense and crazy pronouncements as desperation intensifies and all of the LEFT crazies come out to play.

++++++++++

Please do not forget the Day By Day fundraiser. Please go to Chris Muir’s Main Page here and give what you can.

The Day By Day cartoon series WILL be Chris Muir’s full time job now - let’s help him off to a great start in his new career.

Flap will be giving and hopes all of my readers will give graciously so that Chris can continue his excellent cartoon series.
