Matt Drudge has the poop.

What a shock!

The media being helped by the Obama campaign.

Press Secretary Sean Smith issued the directive in an email from Pennsylvania, 12 hours before the debate.

The memo oddly mirrors much of the main press analysis and theme of the current campaign:

* This is John McCain’s last chance to turn this race around and somehow convince the American people that his erratic response to this economic crisis doesn’t disqualify him from being President.

* Just this weekend the weekend, John McCain vowed to “whip Obama’s you-know-what” at the debate, and he’s indicated that he’ll be bringing up Bill Ayers to try to distract voters.

* So we know that Senator McCain will come ready to attack Barack Obama and bring his dishonorable campaign tactics to the debate stage.

Obama continues to lead on the economic crisis with a rescue plan for Main Street.

* Over the course of the campaign, Barack Obama has laid out a set of policies that will grow our middle class and strengthen our economy.

* But he knows we face an immediate economic emergency that requires urgent action – on top of the plans he’s already laid out – to help workers and families and communities struggling right now.

* That’s why Barack Obama is introducing a comprehensive four-part Rescue Plan for the Middle Class – to immediately to stabilize our financial system, provide relief to families and communities, and help struggling homeowners.

* This is a plan that can and should be implemented immediately.

* Obama has shown steady leadership during this crisis and offered concrete solutions to move the country forward – and his Rescue Plan for the Middle Class builds on the plans to strengthen the economy and rebuild the middle class that he’s laid out over the course of this campaign.

* Already in this campaign, he’s unveiled plans to give 95 percent of workers and their families a tax cut, eliminate income taxes for seniors making under $50,000, bring down the cost of health care for families and businesses; and create millions of new jobs by investing in the renewable energy sources.

* John McCain has been erratic and unsteady since this crisis began – staggering from position to position and trying to change the subject away from the economy by launching false character attacks.

What a surprise! The MSM is in the tank for “The One.”

Stop the presses.

A revealing look at the so-called Obama Tax Cut — is it really a cut?

Only if McCain wants to win.

From the Florida GOP

From the frying pan and into the fire goes Florida Democrat Tim Mahoney. Remember the FLAP.

Now, there is a story circulating around the internets that the Florida Congressman was involved with a second woman who was not his wife.

A married congressman who faces accusations that he had an affair with a former aide and paid her to keep quiet about it also was having an affair with a second woman around the same time, a person close to his campaign told The Associated Press on Tuesday.

Details of the second affair came hours after Democratic U.S. Rep. Tim Mahoney held a news conference to address a story, first reported by ABC News, that he had been involved with the former aide. Mahoney acknowledged he had caused “embarrassment and heartache” to his family but denied doing anything illegal.

Mahoney, 52, won his seat in 2006 while promising to return morals and family values to Washington in the aftermath of the resignation of former Republican U.S. Rep. Mark Foley. Foley stepped down when it was revealed he sent lurid Internet messages to male teenage pages who had worked on Capitol Hill. Foley was later cleared of criminal wrongdoing by state and federal authorities.

Mahoney’s seat was already considered to be one of the more competitive House races, and he has been facing a tough challenge in a district that traditionally leans slightly Republican. He faces former Army officer Tom Rooney, a lawyer whose family owns the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Key Mahoney graph or should Flap say KEY GAFFE from yesterday’s news conference:

“I have not violated my oath of office, nor have I violated any laws,” Mahoney said in the statement.

Plus, ABC News is reporting that the FBI is opening a preliminary investigation into the entire mess.

It would be safe to predict that Republican Tom Rooney will be the next Congressman from Florida’s 16th Congressional District.

Day By Day by Chris Muir

Barack Obama has raised a boat load of money, half of which from small virtually anonymous sources. On the other hand, John McCain has opened up his donor database to the internet. Obama should do the same.

The Federal Elections Commission (FEC) and Congress after this election should pass new legislation or enact new regulations that ensure anonymous, small and internet driven contributions be required to have more transparency.

The prospects of fraud from out of the United States donors is too great in the age of internet contributions.

  • Canadians voted on Tuesday in an election likely to give a renewed mandate to Conservative Prime Minister Stephen Harper, the first Western leader to face the electorate since the financial market meltdown.

Since the financial crisis erupted, the focus of the 37-day campaign has narrowed to who would be the best manager in increasingly troubled economic times.

  • Until Kathleen Parker wrote her critique of Sarah Palin I had never read one piece or knew who the frak she was.
Glad I did not waste my time before.
  • Gov. Palin does have a defense. She could have said:

"I'm gratified that the report confirmed what I said all along, that I had the authority to terminate Walt Monegan as public safety commissioner.

"I absolutely disagree that I violated state ethics law. In repeatedly complaining about trooper Mike Wooten, Todd and I were not pursuing a personal vendetta. We were trying to protect the integrity of the Alaska State Troopers from having an arrogant, almost-out-of-control law-breaker in their ranks. Because the action we were seeking was in the public interest, not purely our personal interest, there is no ethics law violation."

Isn't this what can be inferred from her comments?

  • It looks like Jeremiah Wright was just the tip of the iceberg. Not only did Barack Obama savor Wright’s sermons, Obama gave legitimacy — and a whole lot of money — to education programs built around the same extremist anti-American ideology preached by Reverend Wright. And guess what? Bill Ayers is still palling around with the same bitterly anti-American Afrocentric ideologues that he and Obama were promoting a decade ago. All this is revealed by a bit of digging, combined with a careful study of documents from the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, the education foundation Obama and Ayers jointly led in the late 1990s.

    No surprise here…..

Now, it looks like Obama supporters are going after unsuspecting credit card fraud victims, too. Better check your Visa and Amex bills twice:

  • Investigators probing ACORN have learned that an Ohio man registered to vote several times and cast a bogus ballot with a fake address, officials said yesterday, as they revealed that nearly 4,000 registration applications supplied by the left-leaning activist group were suspect.
  • Republican presidential nominee John McCain will unveil proposals Tuesday aimed at helping Americans cope with a sharp plunge in the stock market, including tax relief for senior investors.

The proposals, to be outlined by McCain in Pennsylvania, come as the Arizona senator tries to close a gap with Democrat Barack Obama, who leads in national polls and in several key states with three weeks to go until election day on November 4.

McCain economic adviser Doug Holtz-Eakin told Reuters that McCain would outline an estimated $52.5 billion in new proposals.

McCain is coming in late to the pander game.

  • Acorn — the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now — has been around since 1970 and boasts 350,000 members. We've written about them for years, but Acorn is now getting more attention as John McCain's campaign makes an issue of the fraud reports and Acorn's ties to Mr. Obama. It's about time someone exposed this shady outfit that uses government dollars to lobby for larger government.

Acorn uses various affiliated groups to agitate for "a living wage," for "affordable housing," for "tax justice" and union and environmental goals, as well as against school choice and welfare reform. It was a major contributor to the subprime meltdown by pushing lenders to make home loans on easy terms, conducting "strikes" against banks so they'd lower credit standards.
