3232156837 f22d6f65e4 o Rush Limbaugh Fundraising for Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Criticized By GOP House Member

Certainly not the first time that the “EVIL” RUSH” has been used as a foil for Democratic Party pleas to replenish their political coffers.

Here is the audio/video:

But, what is interesting this time is that the President of the United States Barack Obama invokes Rush by brow beating members of the GOP leadership.

President Obama warned Republicans on Capitol Hill today that they need to quit listening to radio king Rush Limbaugh if they want to get along with Democrats and the new administration.

“You can’t just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done,” he told top GOP leaders, whom he had invited to the White House to discuss his nearly $1 trillion stimulus package.

But, at least one GOP House member has taken the hint from the President and has criticized the talk show king – but for different reasons.

Rush Limbaugh may command a large following, but his caustic comments Monday about the GOP’s congressional leadership have at least one Republican House member defending his colleagues and offering an unusually candid critique of the talk radio powerhouse and his fellow commentators.

Responding to President Obama’s recommendation to Republican congressional leaders last week that they not follow Limbaugh’s lead, the conservative talkmeister said on his show that Obama is “obviously more frightened of me than he is Mitch McConnell. He’s more frightened of me, than he is of, say, John Boehner, which doesn’t say much about our party.”

Rep. Phil Gingrey, R-Ga., did not take kindly to this assessment in an interview with Politico Tuesday.

“I think that our leadership, Mitch McConnell and John Boehner, are taking the right approach,” Gingrey said. “I mean, it’s easy if you’re Sean Hannity or Rush Limbaugh or even sometimes Newt Gingrich to stand back and throw bricks. You don’t have to try to do what’s best for your people and your party. You know you’re just on these talk shows and you’re living well and plus you stir up a bit of controversy and gin the base and that sort of that thing. But when it comes to true leadership, not that these people couldn’t be or wouldn’t be good leaders, they’re not in that position of John Boehner or Mitch McConnell.”

Rush never hesitant to respond, offers this reply to Rep. Gingrey:

Asked to respond to Gingrey, Limbaugh, in an email to Politico, wrote: “I’m sure he is doing his best but it does not appear to be good enough. He may not have noticed that the number of Republican colleagues he has in the House has dwindled. And they will dwindle more if he and his friends don’t show more leadership and effectiveness in battling the most left-wing agenda in modern history. And they won’t continue to lose because of me, but because of their relationship with the grassroots, which is hurting. Conservatives want leadership from those who claim to represent them. And we’ll know it when we see it.”

Exit Question: Who does Rush Limbaugh influence more the Democrats or the Republicans?

3232329916 18b07c221d o Poll Watch: New York Governor David Paterson Loses 2010 Race Lead to Bloomberg and Giuliani

New York Governor David Paterson and former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani

Not a good week for New York Governor David Paterson. He appoints Blue Dog Democrat Rep. Kirsten Gillibrand to Hillary Clinton’s U.S. Senate seat and trashes Caroline Kennedy in the process. The LEFT and the Kennedy Klan are pissed and may gun for him at Democrat Primary time.

Now, the latest Marist poll has him losing to Mayor Michael Bloomberg and tied with Rudy Giuliani in a 2010 race for re-election as New York Governor.

If the 2010 election for governor were held today, Paterson would lose when matched against New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.  47% say they would rather vote for Bloomberg compared with 41% who say they would cast their ballot for the incumbent governor.  Bloomberg has consistently been a formidable potential opponent.  While Paterson edged out Bloomberg by four percentage points in Marist’s November survey, Bloomberg outpaced Paterson by 11 percentage points in October.  Paterson has also lost ground when matched up against former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani.  In Marist’s previous polls, Paterson repeatedly distanced himself from the Republican.  His hypothetical lead in November was 10 percentage points.  Currently, Paterson and Giuliani are in a statistical dead heat.  Paterson receives 46% of voters’ support while Giuliani garners 47%.

The New York Democrat Party is not stupid and David Paterson is a sure loser to Bloomberg or Giuliani in 2010. The Dems will convince Paterson to accept some federal appointment from Obama and run Andrew Cuomo, Jr. as their Governor nominee.

If not, the next Governor of New York will be Bloomberg or Rudy.

California Proposition 8 – The Musical – A star studded video against Prop 8

Variety reports the fundraising efforts for the gay marriage promoting folks. Since it is unlikely that the California Supreme Court will overturn the vote of California voters which with Proposition 8 re-established the traditional definition of marriage (one man and one woman) homosexual marriage activists are obviously gearing up for another electoral battle – perhaps in 2010.

Marc Shaiman’s online tuner “Prop 8 — The Musical” gets a Broadway bow next month as part of “Defying Inequality: The Broadway Concert.”

One-night-only benefit will feature perfs by “Hairspray” composer Shaiman, “Wicked” composer Stephen Schwartz, playwright Douglas Carter Beane and thesps Harvey Fierstein, Lynda Carter, John Gallagher Jr., Jonathan Groff, Cheyenne Jackson, Adriane Lenox and Rue McClanahan, among others. Also on the bill are the casts of Rialto tuners including “Jersey Boys,” “The Lion King” and “Wicked.”

Concert will be helmed by Schele Williams and Anthony Galde and produced by 4Good Prods.

Event benefits equal-rights orgs Family Equality Council, Empire State Pride Agenda, Equality California, Garden State Equality and the Vermont Freedom to Marry Task Force.

Show will play Feb. 23 at the Gershwin Theater, currently home to “Wicked.”

Flap supposes the “industry” will turn out or be compelled to turn out and they will raise some money for the Prop. 8 redux. But, the skit falls flat and is full of demeaning/ridiculing Christian lies that will appear in the TV ads during their next campaign to legalize gay marriage.

Good luck with their production and who will be taking OPPO video for the Yes on 8 folks?

3231868444 920017d554 Poll Watch: Obamas Decision to Close GITMO Met With Mixed Reviews by American Voters

Terrorist Detention Facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba

President Barack Obama’s decision to close GITMO has met with mixed reviews by American voters.

U.S. voters are closely divided over whether the government should close the terrorist prison camp at Guantanamo Naval Base in Cuba.

Forty-four percent (44%) agree with President Obama’s decision to close the camp within the next year, while 42% disagree in a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey. Fourteen percent (14%) are not sure which is the best course to follow.

Sixty-eight percent (68%) of voters, however, still say safety is more important to them than fairness in determining where the terrorist suspects should be imprisoned. Just 19% put more emphasis on fairness, while 13% are not sure which is more important. These numbers are virtually unchanged from the findings in November.

Sixty-nine percent (69%) say the suspected terrorists at Guantanamo should not be given all the rights of U.S. citizens. Only 16% disagree, and 15% are not sure.

Just 26% say the suspected terrorists should be tried in U.S. courts. Fifty-nine percent (59%) support the Bush Administration position that they should be tried by military tribunals. Sixteen percent (16%) are undecided.

Again, the responses to both these questions are almost identical to those in a survey last July.

Looks like Karl Rove’s comments the other day are not too far off the mark.

The “campaign architect,” as he is commonly called, built a case against President Barack Obama’s order to close Guantanamo, an overseas CIA detention center where terrorists and other “enemy combatants” are held. Obama’s order could enable terrorists to be tried in U.S. courts, to be given undeserved rights afforded American citizens and could cause damaging long-term effects, Rove said.

“One year from now, Gitmo won’t be closed,” Rove said. “If it is, there will be an uproar in the U.S. about where to put these people.”

In one of President Barack Obama’s first acts as President, it looks like a change of Bush Administration policy that does NOT enjoy the overwhelming support of the American people. Well, Obama has left himself a year to decide how to close GITMO.

The closing of Guantanamo Bay = symbolism over substance.

3230913191 c6db896615 o Karl Rove Subpoenaed By House Democrats What About a Frog March?

The LEFT never did see the above – Karl Rove Frog-Marched out of the White House

Left Wing democrats never realized their dream while Karl Rove worked in The White House for President Bush. But, with Bush out of office, they are making up for lost time.
House Democrats renewed their effort to force former White House aide Karl Rove to testify in a probe into Justice Department controversies, presenting a challenge to President Barack Obama, who will have to decide whether to defend his predecessor’s legal arguments.

Michigan Rep. John Conyers, Democratic chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, on Monday issued a subpoena to Mr. Rove, seeking his appearance at a deposition Feb. 2. Mr. Conyers wants the former aide to President George W. Bush to answer questions on the Justice Department’s firings of U.S. attorneys in 2006, among other matters.

For more than a year, the Bush administration blocked congressional demands for testimony from Mr. Rove and other Bush aides. The White House’s assertion of executive privilege prompted the aides to refuse even to show up for a hearing. A judge last year, in a limited ruling, said the privilege didn’t protect the aides from having to appear, even if they refused to answer questions.

“Change has come to Washington, and I hope Karl Rove is ready for it,” Mr. Conyers said. “After two years of stonewalling, it’s time for him to talk.”

Will Obama let this proceed?

For a while but the President knows: What goes around, comes around. After Obama leaves office, it might be his own staff that are subpoenaed by a Congressional committee.

President’s jealously guard their “executive privilege” and Obama would be smart to have Nancy Pelosi smack Conyers down.

And, no frog-march for Rove.

Stay tuned……

GOP Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell on The Today Show

In the wishful thinking department Senator Mitch McConnell points out to the President who his friends really are.

“Frankly, what’s developing here is his biggest problem is with his own party, the Democratic Party, which seems to be drifting away from what he said he wanted, which was for the package to include at least 40 percent tax relief and to be earmark-free.”

“So he could, ironically, end up with better supporters in trying to achieve the kind of stimulus package—which would be timely, targeted and temporary— from us than he’s getting from the Democratic majority, at least so far here in the Congress.”

“Listening to what he said he wanted, we think we may be closer to that, oddly enough, than the Democratic majority, which seems to be pulling in the direction of fewer tax — less tax relief and things like fixing up the [National] Mall. You know, most people don’t think that’s the way we ought to spend stimulus money.”

Obama heads to Capitol Hill today to address GOP lawmakers. Let’s see if Obama shows them some post-partisan love or reminds them that he “WON.”
