Michael Steele – Abortion, Gay Marriage – The GQ Interview

steele

Republican National Chairman Michael Steele

The Michael Steele GQ interview is here.

Some conservatives may NOT like it but Flap understands what Steele is doing – It is called OUTREACH.

On the other hand, it is Steele’s inconsistencies on the abortion question and OTHERS that have some wondering what utility Steele brings to the national GOP and Republican National Committee.

I have seen the man speak with conviction and passion at conservative events and leave everyone mightily impressed, but now we have to wonder whether Steele just tailored the message for the audience, as he appears to have done with Hughley and GQ.  I don’t necessarily buy that, as he has easier ways to get media air time than being in the Republican Party, but it’s hard not to ask the question these days.

One thing is certain: he’s a lot less media savvy than most of us thought.  And since he doesn’t seem to have much skill in organization, we have to ask ourselves why we should support his continued tenure as RNC chair.

Looks like to Flap that Michael Steele is a good pitchman on television and sells himself well, but that is all. California had that problem with Arnold Schwarzenegger – much to its later detriment.

I think this is hilarious. Being raised fundie and attending Liberty Baptist, this gay man loves to see the current republican party tripping over itself relating to gay issues.

Harvey Milk was right, when we come out of the closet and people realize we are their sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, friends, neighbors, etc. All of the lies and myths will fall away. We have succeeded and will continue to do so (truth prevails). Young people (even republican ones) know gay people and feel dramatically different than their parents who didn’t (or didn’t talk about it).

I really think the Right Wing is going to hold onto the party for one more cycle. Then it’s lies, divisiveness, and denial of Americans basic rights will look as relevant and appealing as Jimmy Swaggart (“I’ve Sinned!!”).

Being Republican used to mean limiting government intrusion into personal life (ie: Conservative). Until the party returns to this “it’s not our business” stance it will continue to be marginalized.

Bye bye. Glad to see you go.

    @2
Wishful thinking on your part Leon.

Most of the world’s religions do not accept homosexuality as normal and never will.

Plus, the gay population is and has been decidely left-wing for decades but it is a small population. Too small to affect many elections unless in homosexual bastions of the Castro and West Holywood.

So, when is Obama, your savior gong to come out and support gay marriage?

Answer: Not while he is President

Correction: Right Wing fundamentalists are a small minority have been disproportionately represented by the Republican Party. We’re talking about 15% of the American population (and declining). Not main stream evangelicals which you try to claim. Your time is up and counting.

You are correct, most of the worlds religions do prohibit homosexuality. Do you aspire to embrace the Taliban? Fundamentialist Christians in my life time have preached passionately against/for: Long hair, racial segregation, women wearing pants, women clergy, Male dominance in marriage, Rock Music (including Christian), Evolution (the earth is 5000 years old), Homosexuality is a choice. If we go further back we can include witches, sanctioned church execution, and left handed children are evil.

As much as Fundie’s would hate to admit it, they keep having to find new issues to rally their troups. Young fundies know gay people, realize it’s genetic, and don’t buy all your BS on that topic. Actually I’m encouraged that feeding the poor, caring for the planet, etc. is more important to young evangelicals.

Obama’s not my hero. Science and truth are. Your real enemy should be the Discovery channel (or like the Taliban, education outside of the Koran [Bible]).

Go back and look for a few witches to burn. Maybe you could put it on MTV and have a hit.

    Leon,

You sure know how to sterotype folks.

The vast majority of the USA’s and world’s religions do not approve of homosexuality – period. Tolerance, yes. Approval – no.

The number of homosexuals is a very small minority in this country and the world. Get over it.

    Buy my BS?

    Those are the facts, dude.
