Governor Sarah Palin Criticizes President Obama Over Special Olympics – Bowling Remark

Governor Sarah Palin’s Address to the 2009 Special Olympics in Boise, Idaho

Yes, Governor Palin’s remarks above are certainly a contrast to Obama’s.

President Barack Obama on last night’s Tonight Show with Jay Leno

Ok, here is the Palin hit on Obama.

“I was shocked to learn of the comment made by President Obama about Special Olympics,” Governor Palin said. “This was a degrading remark about our world’s most precious and unique people, coming from the most powerful position in the world.

“These athletes overcome more challenges, discrimination and adversity than most of us ever will. By the way, these athletes can outperform many of us and we should be proud of them. I hope President Obama’s comments do not reflect how he truly feels about the special needs community.”

Flap knows this may be political retribution for this, this and this.

But, Obama’s comment was a MAJOR GAFFE and Palin had every right to call him on it. Now, Flap awaits John McCain to say he has a good heart….one, two, three……..

I think to call some people in Obama’s administration as fit to attempt to participate in the Special Olympics would be an insult to the Special Olympics. Let’s start with Joe Biden…

    Three things…

    1. Of all the people to utter a stereotype–a BLACK president.

    2. He said it with such ease, not immediately catching his fax paux, that I wonder if his true beliefs and feelings slipped during a moment of jocularity.

    3. Good for Governor Palin for calling him on it. During the campaign, any utterance, such as this, from a republican would have cost McCain/Palin another state. HERE, it caused Obama to make a “sincere” apology which results in it no longer being a headline. No double standard? Hardly.

It’s about time people started to see Obama for who he really is. Besides degrading special olympics and the people themselves, he is showing that he has absolutely no class at all. Anybody can buy an expensive suit, put it on and look decent BUT it takes integrity and class to make a true leader. He is a joke!

That was huuuge mistake for a president, but I really think we should not make such great deal. It was honest mistake and he apologized.

Obama was saying that Leno congratulating him on such a low score was like the special olympics, not the low score itself.

And thats completely true. Its the “everyone wins!” mentality that they have in the SO and now many elementary school sports and other activities.

It is ridiculous. And saying that people who are born with an unfortunate, abnormal condition “special” and “most precious” is more talking down than what Obama said. Nature makes mistakes, that doesnt make you special.

I simply dont understand this mentality.

    not at all

What I simpy do not understand is people, such as yourself, excusing a sitting United States president, making a mockery out of the sweat, training and hardwork of physically and mentally challenged individuals through the Special Olympic programs. Next thing you know, Michelle Obama will be at some special needs school for a photo-op.

Had this been George Bush, Rush Limbaugh, Hannity etc., the media would have called for a public lynching and the communist organizations would have amassed thousands of immediate protesters. It seems to me that Mike Savage made a comment about autism and the over-diagnosis in that population and he was all but lynched (and Savage had psychiatrists and others in the MD community to back him up). The media totally misconstrued Savage’s comments and it brought the wrath of autism special interest groups. Finally, they actually heard what Savage was saying AND HE WASNT MOCKING THIS POPULATION.

OBAMA’S REFERENCES TOTALLY MOCKED PEOPLE WITH SPECIAL NEEDS, THEIR PARENTS, SIBLINGS AND FRIENDS. TEACHERS, COACHES, ETC. PERHAPS THATS BECAUSE HE GETS MORE POLITICAL MILEAGE OUT OF ACORN!!!!

great, Obama makes a mistake and apologizes, and before you know it Palin has to blow it out of proportion. way to play politics.

  • Paul

You should know the Palin video was not a response to the Obama gaff. Palins video was posted 10 days before Obama went on Leno and made fun of special Olympics.

  • Flap

The Plain video was NOT the response but her quote was a quite clear response.

Sorry but your attempt at disinformation = fail.

Obama should be ashamed of himself.
